    Awesome adventure. Love the bunker structure. Cool history. Great job on your finds. They really polished up nicely. I wasn't sure if the clam shells were fossilized or not. Looked neat. Have a great day.

    • @StephenandYhana
      @StephenandYhana  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They don’t look fossilised, but they came out of the red crag deposits, which is dated to around 500,000 years. So they are ancient oysters, extinct ones too. If they were a few million years older, then they would begin to mineralise. Catch up soon buddy 😊😉

    Hey Both, loving this. That WWII pillbox was really interesting, never seen one of those before. Would love to check that out! You always find incredible stuff everywhere you go, I wish we knew the history of things that are around us every day. What lovely old oyster shells and loving the time lapse clips too. Thought the quartz were potatoes 😂. Those stones look amazing when cleaned and polished up. Really enjoyed this, take care 🍻

      @StephenandYhana  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey guys, Essex is full of pill boxes, you see them beside the coast, rivers and motorways. The oyster shells are very old, as they came out of the cliff / red crag. They are well preserved, as if they left behind only yesterday 😊 loved the comment about the quartz looking like a potato 🥔😃😁😄 lol catch up soon guys

    The tour of the pill box was amazing! I wouldn't have had the bravery to man that - it looks way too claustrophobic inside and I'm sure it wouldn't have been one person by themselves. I enjoyed seeing all your finds - it's amazing what rolls in with the tide.

    Enjoyed the stroll Stephen. We enjoyed seeing the "Pillbox." Never saw one in real life (never been to Europe) but I did spend a year in Korea where we would hike up into the mountains and see "Machine Gun Bunkers." (Korean War era) Somewhat similar and it leaves you imagining what it would have been like back then. Also enjoyed the fossil and rock hunting. Nice finds that cleaned up nicely! Thanks so much for bringing us along.

      Thank you Dave and Kathy, the UK landscape is covered in those pill boxes, sadly they are not protected yet and many are falling into ruin. I enjoyed the hunt on this island, Mersea is very lovely with bundles of history 😊 catch up soon guys

    Hi and thanks, Stephen and Yhana - History and Adventure Hunters for taking us on a fossil hunting and rock hounding to "Mersea Island" - 'Island of the Pool.' I had no knowledge of the "Pillbox" and had to google..fascinating.. its construction, which weapons could be fired, was the same shape as the boxes chemists supplied tablets during the war. I don't know the dimensions of the pillbox, but were you intimidated while you walked through the inside@2:08? May I ask if those concrete ruins have any history behind@4:29? Wow...too many broken shells and little rocks..I can only identify fossilized shark teeth if there is@6:29. I wonder if the erosion exceeds, will there be more fossils to be found@9:22??Will you consider polishing them all@13:15 and so on? You must have tons of collection boxes of treasure. Adding to my bucket list. As always, it is another successful treasure hunting video.🙋‍♀🛶

      @StephenandYhana  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do have many boxes of fossils and flint tools tucked away, that I have found. I’m pretty sure the collection will keep growing too. My finds are well organised too lol 😆 on a shelf in a cupboard. Labelled and bagged lol 😆 I love archiving.
      Those pill boxes are fascinating little places. This one was very clean and well looked after. I have been inside some that look awful.
      It was a tight space, but well worth the exploration 😊
