    James, just out of curiosity have you ever heard of something called Bakuchiol? It’s supposed to be similar to retinol but not as harsh on the skin? I was just reading about it on google and seen that Burt’s Bees has something with that in it. Just wondering, and by the way I love you and your brother!

    I hadn't heard of the SOME BY ME cleanser, but I started using the 30 day miracle toner a few months ago along with my other routine products and my skin is the best it's ever been. I thought it was going to be a gimmicky product as well, and that I would react severely and have money down the drain, but for once to my surprise an impulse product purchase has become my new favorite part of my routine. I've struggled with hypersensitive skin and acne my whole life, and for some reason their toner works well for me. I just use it once a day when I wash with my usual face wash and then use the toner in the morning before applying my daily moisturizer and it has worked wonders.

    • @Hannah-zv9uj
      @Hannah-zv9uj ปีที่แล้ว

      The reason why the SOME BY MI Toner made your hypersensitive and acne prone skin so good is because it has BHA/AHA. These specific ingredients are really helpful for your skin type, especially acne and soothing down the skin.

  • @anniebaum163
    @anniebaum163 4 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    I love the Some By Mi cleanser hahaha. I don't use it as a "blackhead eraser" though. I have a lot of trouble with hormonal acne on my chin and an aesthetician recommended adding a cleanser with salicylic acid or sulfur once or twice a week. It's a great addition to my skincare regime!

    I hope not everything ends up with birch "juice" in it. My Mum is highly allergic to tree sap, to the point that she can't read a magazine without gloves (because of the coating on the paper) and has to avoid touching new clothes that haven't been washed (due to the finishing spray used on clothing to prevent deterioration in storage). Tree resins and saps are a high allergen unfortunately.. 😔😕

    After following your advice for a year, I went though my skin products finally to determine what was causing my situation. I have always had pretty good skin face. I don't have dark areas or blemishes but do have dry areas and dullness. Most of my routine is to get moisture infused and hopefully a natural glow. I used a makeup melting balm, a cleaning cream to wash, hydrating toner, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C or A serum, rose hip essence, and a hydrating moisturizer. Without fail I look red and have a slight burning sensation about 2 minutes after I'm done. Now that I'm stuck indoors (except when I go to my elderly clients homes to feed, bathe, clothe, or help them get exercise) I been using each product alone that didn't help, then I doubled them differently each night starting with the toner and this was what the problem was. I'm not sure the reason, but the hydrating toner is what caused the burning and redness but only after I applied a product over top. I'm not sure how to figure out what ingredient is the blame though have to take the entire product out of my routine. I need a bit of assistance on how to figure this situation out because I don't want to risk any sudden issues from not having a toner😔 I hope this post makes sense.

    • @bombshellblonde544
      @bombshellblonde544 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Look at the ingredients list in the toner! There could be something in there that is irritating your skin. Additionally, retinol (vitamin A) and Vitamin C are both sensitizing ingredients, so they could be making you more vulnerable to whatever is in the toner that is irritating your skin! Common culprits are alcohol, fragrance, and essential oils.
      Also, I want to add that toner isn't necessary! I love mine, and James loves his, but not having a toner in your routine won't cause any problems, so that's not something you need to worry about!

    • @bombshellblonde544
      @bombshellblonde544 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      A good resource for what ingredients can be irritating is cosdna.com! It's a crowdsourced database of what products have what ingredients. Once you look up the product, it'll give you a breakdown of what's in it as well as information on each ingredient and its purpose. Take a look at what it says about your toner, and if it's not in there, you can look up each individual ingredient on the website to learn more about them!

    sorry to be that person, but i always see the skincare products in James' background and i can't help but say that they shouldn't be exposed to sunlight like that... sunlight breaks down the beneficial ingredients in skincare and oftentimes reduces the efficacy of a product. they're best stored in a cool place without any sunlight interaction at all.

    I am sure we do see that the content of skincare for all the skincare gurues like James and Susan and hyram has changed alot
    Susan and lab maffin recently did a video about how alcohol was NOT a bad ingredient for our skin and now James tell us its very okay to use a mild physical scrub cleanser
    You see this diversity this is what I love about TH-cam, but this can cause a little bit of confusion, that's why you should
    (experiment with yourself, its okay to take OPINIONS of others but YOUR experience will determine everything for you)

    Bamboo powder sounds amazing. I usually switch between physical and chemical because I do have mild rosacea and I've gotten very good at lightly scrubbing with physical exfoliators. I really with that there was a brand that was great for sensitive skin (or ALL skin in general) (no fragrance, no essential oils, no scilicones where they aren't required, etc) and they made a line for oily skin, normal skin, and dry skin. AND you could get everything you need for a nice price. However I find that almost every brand has one or two good products that might meet (My) criteria and the rest of their products ruin the line by having unnecessary ingredients.... So you have to buy from multiple brands. Sorry, I'm rambling. I'm tired and have had the worst week and I was sick from coming off a medication and didn't was my face for 3 days (or eat solid food). My face is RED and mad at me and I'm tired. I hope you're beautiful face is doing well. And you better get after your brother if he ever applies eye cream like that again. lol

    Glad you liked physical exfoliator! Lately almost all youtube skincare influencers are promoting and shipping chemical exfoliating, and I kinda understand the beauty in it but sometimes I like to go back to the "good old days" like physical exfoliation too. I love KORA Organics 'Tumeric 2-in-1 Exfoliating Mask' (but maybe you are not keen on this brand since you are not into 'organic' stuff...), or you may want to check out Good Molecules 'Pineapple Exfoliating Powder' - their very recent new product! Got some chemical exfoliation too but more on powder-base gentle physical exfoliation, activated by adding water. Splendid result!
    About SOME BY MI - Ya, agreed their products often are underwhelming...except their sunscreen 'Truecica Mineral 100 Calming Suncream' which is amazing! Very lightweight with very minimal white cast for physical sunscreen and can treat acne too! Best sunscreen only after PURITO's 'Comfy Water Sunblock' which is now my No.1 SPF cream, thanks to your introduction of this product in the past :)
    Enjoyed your video!

    wow I've been looking carefully for reviews on Some by Mi because you're right! I don't know if they just pay for all those ppl to review positively that whenever I search for their products, it's hard to find one that says otherwise so I tend to skip the avalanche of similar rave reviews that flood my search and try to dig deeper. Especially since my skin is sensitive and tends to act up, I was really cautious. Their 30-day miracle toner didn't work for me despite the rave reviews. Found one reviewer online who did caution as she had sensitive skin too and thank goodness I took her advice.

      I've been using some by mi for like 3 days and It did remove my blackheads idk maybe a little bit. He's right that it has drying effects because of tannin, first time I used the product my skin dried a bit, and good thing I only used a sample size for it to see. i'll probably used it for a month and see the result. I gave sensitive skin too and oily. I'll update it my findings and reviews within a month.

    I always doubt any claims that oils contain any vitamin C - sure the whole fruit might (e.g. rosehips or blackcurrant) but since Vitamin C is not fat soluble it doesn't end up in the oil. This is especially true for rosehip oil, yet manufacturers still try to claim its high vitamin c content which is BS
