  • At 750 miles, New York State's Empire State Trail is the longest multi-use trail in the country. There are three sections to the trail, and We are going to explore 65 miles of the Hudson River section. Our ride takes us on three Rail Trail Hall of Fame Trails: The Wallkill Valley Rail Trail, the Hudson Valley Rail Trail, and the William R. Steinhaus Dutchess Rail Trail. We finish our ride on the Maybrook Trail.
We will explore historical cement mining facilities, tour historic Huguenot Street, cross the longest pedestrian bridge in the world -- the Walkway over the Hudson, and visit the Hopewell Depot Train Station.

Maybrook is great, two very nice lakes, three great swamps, not many pedestrians, very few surface street crossings, several boardwalks, and some great estates back up to the trail. Also, it come very close to the Putnam Line, which runs all the way down to NYC. There is not much industrialized areas, and in the summer, you have to look through the vegetation to see points of interests, but after a good rain, the streams and culverts are singing and you can see how they carve through the hillsides, naturally, as well as with sculpted manmade gullies.

Wow, 65 miles on an e-bike. What power assist were you most frequently using? What size battery does your bike have? How long did this ride take (including rest breaks)?

Looks like a great trail. Do you guys have a camper or do you stay in hotels and or Airbnbs for your rides? Where did you guys stay to access this trail? Thanks.

I didn't think ebikes are allowed on the rail trail.
