      I am not really a fan of the White Tower or the Black Tower podcasts. I've tried to listen to them, I want to support content creators in this space, but both podcasts haven't really held my interest. With the White Tower, it's the relentless attempts at humor and the wall-to-wall profanity, with the Black Tower it's the overall low energy and the constant stumbling over name pronunciations. I did find myself agreeing with some of the things Jess had to say in this episode of WotTalk, so maybe I need to try yet again to give their podcast a chance.
      I've never heard you mention The Dragon Reread podcast, are you aware of them? The show has three hosts, and I find their podcasts very entertaining and insightful. I also like the WotSpoilers podcast quite a bit.

      @@Siansonea Jess, is very very insightful and would probably be awesome to just sit down and chit chat with, I also can't listen to their show though. Maybe I am thinking about Jen actually, I can't ever remember.

    How many misunderstood, poorly thought thru opinions can we fit into one WoTtalk? 😆
    Embrace flaws, change, and absurdist subversion of your cliche expectations.
    Great episode. Good talk.
    I personally believe that who/what you hate says a lot about you as a person. Either your blind spots, or what you shine a hyper-vigilant spotlight on.
    One little way I identify (eensy weensy little similarity) you can be aware of the ideal dynamic, &your own failings...
    But when you're right, you gotta sometimes push over the line. Even though you're right, your partner may focus more on how poorly you behaved in your rightness.
    Even though you're right, that doesn't mean you're not an asshole.
    But being right, & in an emergency you don't always have the time to walk you're lady love to a calm understanding of why you need to do what you gotta do.
    Also... If Gawyn didn't do everything he did... The shadow would've won.
    Heeey! Alright there you go! The White tower got there in the end. It all makes sense in the context of the story.
    We usually don't relate because of our own baggage, not very often is it cuz of a failing in the literature.

    Daniel, I think you're great, and I think Stephen King is super!
    But I wouldn't hire him to write the end of a Seinfeld episode.
    You're right on about Fain though, King would have knocked that out of the park.
    I think endings are consistently one of his weaknesses.
    He is definitely one of my favorite writers I've made a serious effort to read *everything* he's published, and as far as I know all I've got left is "Bag of Bones"

    On that last point I think that there has been a giant wedge drilled between men and women on two points in this world that we don't have in our real world. One being that men and women draw from different powers that act differently and take a different caliber of people to channel them respectively. The second main wedge is that men caused the breaking and the world still hasn't recovered. Women still blamed men and feel threatened by men falling into the same pattern to destroy the world again. Wear as I think men were written to be sceptical of the women wanting to manipulate them for their own gains and using them as pawns in a greater game. Just a thought, not trying to be argumentative. Loved the episode of WOTTalk.

    Weis & Hickman is a great choice. Eric Lustbader's work on the Mistress of The Pearl series makes me feel like he'd do a great job, but I really like Sanderson's work

    Spoilers!!!
    For Gawyn, I feel like, though he did grow up in the castle being trained to follow Elayne's orders, he was, for one, still an important noble (the Prince) who was used to being in charge. Also, I would argue the most formative time of his life up to the end of the series was when he was riding across the countryside with the Younglings, doing whatever he wanted and not taking orders from anyone. He got to see the freedom of not just training and being stuck inside of Caimlyn. This was represented I think, in his relationship with Egwene and wasn't used to taking orders and appreciated his freedom. Also, he sees this friendship that has developed with Siuan and Egwene and already has a bias against Siuan. Also, Gawyn is pretty full of himself.

    I think John C Wright would have been a GREAT pick to finish the WoT. No shade on Sanderson, of course, he's awesome too.

    So what Ajah's are your guests? I think in order to determine whether we would get along with people, we should ask everyone what their Ajah is, and turn it into an app like looking up your horoscope... it could be like.... Monday blue ajah.... the power isn't coming as easy today so try to take it easy today. Stay away from forkroot.

    • @TheCasualTrippy

      Haha stay away from forkroot should be at the end of every day

    • @Siansonea
      @Siansonea 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe the more talkative one is a self-styled Green Ajah 'Amyrlin' of their podcast, and the quieter one is a Brown Ajah Keeper of the Chronicles, if my recollection of the podcast I listened to a few months ago is accurate.
      I took that online Ajah test, which is the Sorting Hat of WoT. Apparently I belong to the supremely dull White Ajah. What Ajah are you?
      And does forkroot also affect male channelers? Could forkroot have been a treatment for male channelers all this time?

    Only complaint with the ending of Memory of Light was how Mordeth was handled. Other than that I liked the ambiguous ending, and all these storylines that were left incomplete were predictable. We know that Nyneave and Lan will go back and rebuild Malkier, Perrin and Faile live the rest of their lives peacefully in the Two Rivers, etc. P.S. that scene where Rand lit the tabac was LIT 🔥

    • @indranigomes9874
      @indranigomes9874 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually Faile became Queen of Saldaea, so it's really anyone's guess how that works out. Perrin will probably move to Saldaea and I guess Tam would rule in the Two Rivers.

    All the hate on gawain and egwain I think is completely exaggerated. Same for perins relationship. I've read the series several times and what I see isnt bad relationships, it's real relationships. There are flaws, differences of opinion, differences of taste. You can't expect them to be perfectly in sync like a well honed machine. The issues make them more believable.

    i allways felt the conection between fain and rand was forced and i would rather have him follow and try to kill mat for all the books, i mean you could essentially develop him into the gholam and have a even deeper anymosity between mat and his enemy.

    I didn’t like Brandon writing Mat a first (Mat went too Evil Librarian, Brandon got rebuked for it and returned Mat to himself)

    I had to stop watching because of all the profanity. I mean all of the times they said *bleep* and *bleep* was very insulting. Or even when they said *bleeeeeeeeeep* . Anyway, besides the jokes I actually think aMoL really wrapped up the series well. Actually, it is the most well written ending I have ever read.

    • @Siansonea
      @Siansonea 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The only people I know who use profanity this much are teenagers. There's something very immature about this communication style, and I'm really not a fan. Excessive profanity simply dulls the effect that profanity should have, which is to strongly emphasize something. Constant cursing is the verbal equivalent of typing in all caps.
