Ceviche was made for Native old culture pre incas, they used a citric fruit called "tumbo", mixed with fishes cutted in slices, Spanish conquers brought the bitter orange, and Peruvians started to use on this plate. The recipe that we have today, it's from the beggining of the 20th century, approximately in a range 1910-1920. Where finally we replaced the bitter orange by the Lemon juice, onion slices and peppers.

Totally agree. Other Latin American countries have "ceviche", but it is definitely not the same thing. There's a reason why ceviche is the national dish of Peru.
I liked the food in Cusco more but my friend did take me to a secret undercover ceviche place in Lima with fish, clams, octopus and I still have no idea where it is to this day haha. I felt the same about how Lima feels like California especially the central coast and it made me feel like I was home. Great video and i cannot wait for more!

El limón y la cebolla lo trajeron los españoles a América durante la Conquista, antes de eso, no se concocian en el Perú. Con la llegada de los españoles se creo el ceviche en todos los paises del litoral del Pacífico.

Ek ceviche nace en América con la venida de los españoles en la epoca de la Conquista.

I don't understand you. Cebiche was created in Perú, no in Chile, also anothers peruvian dishes wich Chile was tried to copy, for example, Suspiro Limeño, picarones, etc. In addition to this, they have tried to appropriate peruvian native fruits, such as "Chirimoya".

I mean, just about all of the Peruvian Asians are in Lima, which has a population of almost 10 million. That would mean that around 10% of the total population of Lima are completely or mostly Asian?? I just don't see it

I was raised there as a kid in the 1970s and continue to go back, more often now than before. Used to not be crazy about the food until I craved it once back in the States. Lima deserves a week of sightseeing before moving on to Cusco, Arequipa, Iquitos, Nazca, Pucallpa, and yes, Macchu Picchu.

Totally agree. Other Latin American countries have "ceviche", but it is definitely not the same thing. There's a reason why ceviche is the national dish of Peru.

I liked the food in Cusco more but my friend did take me to a secret undercover ceviche place in Lima with fish, clams, octopus and I still have no idea where it is to this day haha.
I felt the same about how Lima feels like California especially the central coast and it made me feel like I was home.

Something extra to add is that whenever you come to lima , don’t only focus on restaurants also try the street food which is, most of the time, much more delicious and at the same time more cheaper.

El limón y la cebolla lo trajeron los españoles a América durante la Conquista, antes de eso, no se concocian en el Perú. Con la llegada de los españoles se creo el ceviche en todos los paises del litoral del Pacífico.

Eso no era ceviche. Los pescadorrs Moche Pescaban y para no comer pescado crudo lo remojaban con jugo de tumbo. El tumbo no es tan cittico como el limón, pero igual ablandaba un poco el pescadi y asu se lo comian, eso no ers ceviche, era pescado remojado.
Ek ceviche nace en América con la venida de los españoles en la epoca de la Conquista.

you@comdavid Relatively yeah, over the last 10 to 15 years Peruvian food has been recognized globally, but that doesn't mean the food didn't exist before that nor that it was just invented. Perú's gastronomy has always been there, it just got known worldwide, that's all :)

I don't understand you. Cebiche was created in Perú, no in Chile, also anothers peruvian dishes wich Chile was tried to copy, for example, Suspiro Limeño, picarones, etc. In addition to this, they have tried to appropriate peruvian native fruits, such as "Chirimoya".

Mmmmm, I guess we'll have to wait until the results of the recent census to really see but 1 million people seems really high. I mean, just about all of the Peruvian Asians are in Lima, which has a population of almost 10 million. That would mean that around 10% of the total population of Lima are completely or mostly Asian?? I just don't see it

I was raised there as a kid in the 1970s and continue to go back, more often now than before. Used to not be crazy about the food until I craved it once back in the States. Lima deserves a week of sightseeing before moving on to Cusco, Arequipa, Iquitos, Nazca, Pucallpa, and yes, Macchu Picchu.
