Well done Tom.i had a heart attack and cardiac arrest 2yrs ago while driving, i became unwell and pulled over and called 999, i'm only here because i'd stopped in a bus stop 500yds from the first responders house who was to be sent out to me, i had 20mins CPR resulting in 6 cracked ribs and 3 shocks with a defib before i came back to life.
That bit about the British heart foundation was brilliant. In January I collapsed playing football locally in Urmston, Manchester and without the help of others I wouldn’t be here today. I’m now making a full recovery with an ICD and it’s great to see things like this being pushed on such a huge platform 👏
And we were all assured they were safe & effective. There's no other explanation for this recent pattern in heart problems. I would seek legal advice, or even better; learn the legislation yourself.
Great show as ever. This one hit home, as I had a heart attack in March 2023 at 47yrs of age. I waited 35 mins for an ambulance and instantly needed a defib before setting off to hospital, then needed another at the hospital before they put a stent in. I am also a chairman of my local football club, we have 17 teams and we make sure every one of our coaches from Under 7s to Walking Football knows how to do CPR and has annual refresher sessions. So important, well done guys!
One of the best things on TH-cam each week. Thanks! I know it’s probably redundant now, but don’t blame yourself at all. I’ve done a few first aid courses, I’m definitely not an expert, but they told us the chances of someone surviving are very, very slim unless you use a defibrillator quickly. As low as 7%-10%
Thanks for sharing bro. I took my whole family for training 3 weeks ago. With defibrillator training too. There were so many things I didn’t know it’s was crazy. You can’t be held accountable for not knowing man. But you did the best, thank you.
Well done all for bringing heart attacks into light. My younger brother died at work a few years ago of a heart attack.. There was no one trained on CPR there with him at the time plus no defibrillator near....A defib could have saved his life. His name was Chris..... #forever34

To Gary's point about no signings doing well at United except Bruno Fernandez. I'd say Zlatan exceeded expectations at United. He was 35, signed on a free. Could he still do it after winding down in the french league? That was the talking point 28 goals, two cups and a charity shield.

Brilliant thing the talk about time and 5-10 mins on CPR. Some people might of thought “oh ffs cmon boring” but it’s valuable n life changing. Nice touch everyone❤️
I had to give an old fella in the shop downstairs from my work CPR one day, walked in for a drink to find the guy collapsed and the shop owner asking me to take over the chest compressions. After about 3mins maybe he took a massive breath in and turned onto his side as the paramedics turned up. Was such a strange experience, I’ve no idea if he pulled through but I hope so. Only reason I knew what to do was a friend of mine was in training to be a paramedic and taught home a few months previously. Great section to show people what to do to help .
Actually the reminders are a good thing as the medical advice does change every so often. The compression to breath ratio is updated from time-to-time.
Keane does lots for charities that a lot of people don't know about, asking lots of questions about defibrillators, I wouldn't be surprised if he donates a few
About Casemiro, people forget he played with three in midfield at Real Madrid, he was always surrounded by Modric and Kroos. In United he's been used in a double pivot, which forces him to be more direct in his defensive work, which has not worked out at all. To be fair the 4-2-3-1 system has been used far too much by ETH, and its not looking good this season with all the injuries. The example Gary mentioned about Jorginho is a bit similar, where he was used as a double pivot in Chelsea but didnt have the legs to do the job properly. I think Casemiro would be much better if ETH used him in a midfield three as a nr 6 with Mainoo and Bruno as 8s.

Tom Lockyer, your passion is truly inspiring and contagious! Your dedication and enthusiasm shine through brilliantly. Keep up the amazing work, you're making a real difference! You are saving lifes!
@@Daveyboy1234 You’re pissed off that someone raises awareness of life-saving skills after having their life saved!? That’d apply to almost everyone - we don’t really consider serious conditions or situations until they affect us or someone close. Of course what Tom Lockyer’s doing is fuckin saving lives. What he did or didn’t do prior to his cardiac arrest doesn’t affect the impact now. What do you want - proof that anyone teaching CPR has been doing it since childhood? Otherwise it’s worthless? Christ.
@sammygfc4128 thank you for using your valuable time to reply, not pissed off, where do I say that?? He's not actually saving life's though is he?? So if I tell everyone in the UK to visit the STD clinic and people realise they have an STD do I get called a hero??
@@Daveyboy1234 Thank you for assuming my time is valuable. I can spare the three minutes it takes to write a short paragraph. Fine, if you want to be pedantic and take it literally, no - Tom Lockyer has not personally given anyone CPR or the Heimlich Manoeuvre. But you know as well as I do that you suggesting people go to a clinic when they have no reason to do so, is a stupid comparison with a video which literally gives 1m+ people the skills needed to save a life in an emergency that could happen at any time to anyone. So yes, there’s a fair chance promoting this will save at least a life. And if it doesn’t, no harm done. There’s literally no downside to what Tom Lockyer’s doing…except for you apparently. Anyway, the main point of my first reply was to ask why it matters when Lockyer started educating people about CPR!? That’s just a weird opinion frankly. When did you want him to start? A few years before his cardiac arrest?

fair play tom, Last year aged 28 I took unwell and was diagnosed with complete heart block and fitted with a pacemaker. within the year I was fitted with an ICD. My girlfriend saved my life by getting me to the doctor as I thought I had a chest infection. it's a scary thought to what could've happened and has changed my life forever but it's great to be alive.
I had a sudden cardiac arrest in February 24, 2012 over at Camp Pendleton and was dead for around 2 minutes. I was put a defibrillator and pacemaker and after i couldnt do any physical work without my chest hurting. Cant run cant lift weights and definitely cant play football soccer anymore. Its damn amazing how they keep on playing
I've worked as a healthcare assistant for 10 years now. Have had to administer CPR twice. One within a carehome guided by paramedics on scene. Which helped me in a 1 to 1 home visit situation where I needed to call an ambulance whilst administering CPR with no support. Unfortunately the gentleman passed later on in hospital but was still alive for his family to get by his side. Some other songs you can administer CPR to are "nelly the elephant" and "another one bites the dust"

He's not though as he didn't care at all before this so he's jumping on a bandwagon
@@sammygfc4128 your the real hero here
Massive respect to the British heart foundation unbelievable having that’s in this saves peoples lives
“Gaaarrryyyy…quiet…keep your nose out”
Words that Neville’s probably heard loads of times in the dressing room 😂
Thank you to everyone involved for doing the CPR segment 👏👏👏👏
🤣😂🤣 I slept through an alarm couple days ago and I was shocked. I had to wonder if my alarm was working, the reality of the matter is that I was so F'ing tired and I needed a break.
why not have a mini-retirement? lol
@@andrewharrison7767 That's not a bad idea, working towards it. It's good to take a break sometimes.
@@brinkksmusic I'm not sure if you're aware of the context of my joke? Gary spoke about mini-retirements on diary of ceo podcast- anyone else calls it a long weekend
@@andrewharrison7767 Oh, that's what mini retirement mean. In that case I will need a macro retirement then.
How is Ian Wright the only one wearing the British heart foundation pin after all that promotion I find it unbelievable respect to him.
I have always loved seeing the respect Roy shows Jill.
Wrighty as well
The CPR segment was amazing. I feel way more informed and confident. Thank you!
Friend of mine works at a sports/leisure centre. He’s saved two different people with a defibrillator 👏🏻
Can’t help laughing every time Wrighty gives out fashion advice 😂😂😂
6 weeks ago I almost died after leaving gym 2 hours later, I was in 8 hours of open heart surgery, having an aortic dissection, so know the feeling lads,
Covid Vaccine will do that to ya
Here’s wishing you a speedy recovery, mate.
I suspect you have always been healthy ... and somehow you had this heart attack.
What did the hospital say?
Good luck for the future pal make sure you live everyday to the fullest now with no regrets
💉
Love the honesty of the panel and the craic.
The way Roy gets angry at hearing Jamie is late 😂👏🏼
Big up Tom for coming on to discuss such a sensitive issue, hope you come back to football soon. One of the best episodes on STF
Tom Lockyer could easily play in the Lord of the Rings
He looks like he could slot into the role of a dwarf, which is said with absolutely no disrespect intended!
Neville and caragher a couple of orcs
Keane would play a mardy little hobbit
LOTR - The hunt for Moyes.
Andrew Cole.. what a player.
Glad I chased him for a photo when I saw him 😂.
Thanks for the memories Mr Cole.
Ian Wright is such a fantastic human being.
Gary ensuring people at home understand the CPR of all ages, he really is a top bloke and glad they covered this. I certainly know a lot more than I did.
fair play tom, Last year aged 28 I took unwell and was diagnosed with complete heart block and fitted with a pacemaker. within the year I was fitted with an ICD. My girlfriend saved my life by getting me to the doctor as I thought I had a chest infection. it's a scary thought to what could've happened and has changed my life forever but it's great to be alive.
Thank god and our your ok
@@gunner-the_dog1352God?? Grow up
Outstanding episode to show the importance of CPR. You never know how important it is to have the basic knowledge.
That CPR session was very interesting and informative. Well done to the Overlap team
Next week HIV
Best episode yet. Best guest, Carra's lateness, the banter. Love it.
Always nice to see stick to football on my algorithm
Well done on the CRP section!! Such an important thing to know. Given that the last time I had CRP lessons was 15years ago, I found this very helpful.
Carra definitely is having a hangover or drink here, too bubbly and happy the whole episode 😁
Lovely this, spreading awareness on knowing proper CPR. You never know when you might need it 👏
Great to have Tom on. So many people having heart attacks nowadays.
Tom Lockyer what a guy 👏👏
I've worked as a healthcare assistant for 10 years now.
Have had to administer CPR twice. One within a carehome guided by paramedics on scene.
Which helped me in a 1 to 1 home visit situation where I needed to call an ambulance whilst administering CPR with no support. Unfortunately the gentleman passed later on in hospital but was still alive for his family to get by his side.
Some other songs you can administer CPR to are "nelly the elephant" and "another one bites the dust"
Great little piece on CPR and raising awareness on it! My ex-girlfriend sadly lost her father last week due to a heart attack aged 48.
Jabbed per chance?
