    My initial reaction to the thumbnail was that this is an “apples to oranges” comparison, given the size and powertrain differences of these models, but you have surfaced an interesting way to think about comparing models when viewing them primarily through a price lens. Since most buyers are managing to a budget, it does make sense to evaluate what your money buys within different models, and how those features align with your priorities. In this case, a full sized, more luxury oriented GLE that is modestly optioned to a compact, and sportier GLC that is fully equipped. A traditional comparison is the same class of vehicle across different manufacturers, but this is indeed a valid comparison across different classes but within the same manufacturer given the similar price points. Well done! This out of the box thinking is why you continue to be among my favorite channels.

    The new straight six with 48 volt mild hybrid is soo impressive. The future of refined technology.
    It has no accessory belts in front, the starter alternator is sandwiched between the motor and transmission, and the motor is placed longitudinally. The way it should be. By the way I really enjoy these comparisons, and the length. When I see one more than 20 minutes, I usually skip it.

    My Dad was debating between the XC60 and this GLC (both new models), and somehow ended up getting the new Audi Q5... which wasn’t even an option 😂. I’m a big Mercedes guy, so I was obviously disappointed. My Dad’s a big Volvo guy, so I’m surprised he went with the Q5. Which one would you get in terms of value and features (for buying it out completely like he did, not for leasing).

    I usually enjoy your reviews-you usually do a great job. However, this time you are making a very strange comparison. I have a GLC, and, like the vast majority of GLC owners, we paid between $45K and $50K for our 4Matic. That includes the base price plus a few extras, including the all-important blind spot monitoring, especially on the GLC. If we were going to spend over $60K, of course we would buy a GLE. Those of us who purchased a GLC either like the smaller crossover size of the GLC, which rides very like a sedan, or we are just getting our first Mercedes (like me), and simply can't afford a $60K+ car. While there may be a few people who will pay$60K+ for a GLC, I can't understand why.

      J Jean can 3 adults seat in the back comfortably on a 6 hour trip ? What about luggage? Good space ? Thanks for the feed back

    • @jjvidtn
      @jjvidtn 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ghost Hello! Officially, three people can sit on the back seat fairly comfortably, but I wouldn't recommend more than two on a long trip. Luggage space in the very back is limited to three or four suitcases. Of course, if you have no one in the back, you can let the back seats down and have quite a bit of storage room.

      Hi! Here in Switzerland almost every car comes good or fully equipped. The reasons for me to pick a fully loaded GLC over a mildly equipped GLE are the following: 1. Towing capacity is no argument for me. 2. I will order the GLC 400d which comes with a 3L inline 6 Diesel Motor which pulls 700nm and 330hp at 7,5 litres of fuel consumption and makes the car ride very very smooth compared to the 300 petrol or diesel engines. 3. Safety features are great - and I think worth the price. 4. I can have all the goodies at still a reasonable price (Leather, Sunroof, Sports suspension etc.) 5. The lighter car makes it for a much more sporty and engaging ride. It makes it easier to find parking spaces. 6. Insurance and taxes, as well as service costs and tires are cheaper with a GLC than for any GLE. 7. The space inside isn't actually a big difference unless you have 2+ kids - how often do you really run out of booth capacity with an SUV? so... fully specced GLC is the better choice for me. The only reason for me to spend more on a *well* specced GLE would be a bit quieter ride. Also the GLE may be a more prestiegeous car - but I don't really care about that point. Looks may also be a point - I think the GLEs front is a bit more pleasing - but with AMG styling the GLC looks very nice too!

    Sorry, but this is a terrible compassion. You can't have 1 car (GLC) decked out with all the options in the world and the other (GLE) basically a stock car and then say things like you get a Pano roof on the GLC, which you don't btw. it's a $1500 option to add the Pano roof. On the GLE it cost $1000 for the pano. Same thing with the rear climate and heated seats. all are added options on the GLC that can also be added to GLE. It's simply not a fair compassion. Add the same options on the GLE and them make a video.

    • @CarConfections
      @CarConfections  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      And then it would cost $15 grand more than the GLC, so what would that prove? That the more expensive vehicle is better? You don't need a video for that. The point is with having vehicles the same price because even wealthy people usually don't just spend 15 grand more without thinking about it

    • @jjvidtn
      @jjvidtn 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are exactly right. I said much the same thing in my review. I paid about $48 for my GLC 4Matic-If I wanted to spend more, I would have gone for a higher model. Love my GLC, even if it is barely over base model specs.
