I watch with fondness thinking of my grandmother and how I should have been hanging out in the kitchen with her as much as I was outside with grandpa. This generation still has so much to teach us. Wisdom comes with age, and from many sacrifices along the way. So many young people today do not have a clue what they are missing, by not spending time with a grandparent.

I sincerely hope that Clara's grandson never decides to take these wonderful videos down. I discovered them years ago, when Clara was still making them. Now that she's no longer with us, I still come back & watch them from time to time when I need a wholesome "fix". My mom grew up during the Great Depression, & Clara's stories remind me of all the things my mom & Grandma told me about life during that time. I'm so sad that Clara is gone, but I'm so grateful that her grandson had the wherewithal to record her memories to share with all of us. Clara is a tremendous gift to everyone who sees these videos. May God bless the entire Cannucciari family, & may dear Clara be resting peacefully with her beloved husband in Heaven. 🙏💓🙏

Funny how some people can make you feel like you miss them and don't even know them. Your video poped up on my feed and I watched the "Poorman Meal" video. I saw a few more then saw the one of your passing. It made me sad. The fact that God blessed you with almost a century of living is amazing. I bet you had some of the best stories for your children and grandchildren. I have to agree with the comment before me - feeling like you're late to the party. It made me cry to watch this, I don't even know this woman but you can tell what a beauitful soul she was. I hope your family enjoys re watching and remaking these wonderful meals, I wish I had videos of my grandmother cooking our meals when I was younger, it would be almost like them always being there with you in the kitchen. As a single person living on my own for the first time, I plan on making some of these meals to help my budget :)

Ive only just descovered bayleaves O.o ... makes stabbing a roast lamb with garlic so much better (noticed nana uses them in her sauce) As a batcheler an aussie method for bread making is using day after flat beer instead of water instead of packet yeast. Nana Clairs cookign is fantastic, never deny the humility of the humble potato nor tomato :D

I’ve watched this video and tried to make tomato sauce like this over and over. It gets better every time - but I’m not convinced Ms Clara would recognize it as her own recipe just yet. However, it’s late summer and there are loads and loads of fresh, local tomatoes at the farmer’s market- so it’s time to try again and see if I can make her proud :-) It’s a lot of work, but somehow I feel like I owe it to her to get it right!

WOW. My parents went through the depression. Our meals growing up were feasts . We didn't have a lot but we never went hungry.

None of us are Italian, but my grandfather loved to cook all sorts of different dishes. His spaghetti was the best I've ever had or ever will have.
She said that she didn't know why she was still alive at this point. I know, she was still there to pass on heritage from the depression era. And teach us about healthy cheap foods. RIP Clara.

Recently, they discovered that the oleic acid in olive oil (also in avocados and nuts) increases your lifespan and works just like resveratrol.
Before, they weren't sure if Mediterranean diet was so healthy in spite of olive oil or if olive oil too played a role.
My mom's lebanese teta lived to be 102! She said her secret was lots of olive oil and a piece of fruit with every meal.
She reminds me of my mom. My mom made it to 93, her mother 102. I'm 63, and I don't have 1/10th of her energy. Bless you for sharing your nana with us.
It's amazing how attached we can become to someone we never even met in this life. And, yet, when Clara says at the end, "I love you all. Goodbye," I can't help but tear up. She lived a very long life but I still wish we could've had her with us just a little bit longer. She never knew it. Clara taught me a lot in her videos and she also got me through some rough times in the past couple of years, too. What a sweet lady.

I believe this is my third time watching through Clara’s videos. And the thing that strikes me compared to today’s living and cooking is how she doesn’t have the latest fanciest cookware dishware stove or anything. She uses it until it’s wore out. That’s how they made it through the depression I only hope that people of this generation catch on to this idea to make it through this next great depression. Love Clara

It's always heartbreaking to hear recordings of loved one's who've passed say..."Bye bye."
This is so important. These videos are so important. It teaches the younger generation about the Great Depression. And it's eternal.
It also shows them basic cooking w/o spending a lot of money on name brand fancy sauces, inexpensive meat, or other ingredients.
Now have the younger generation couple this with gardening at home for the ultimate cost-saving healthy cooking!
While I'm not old, 38, I wish things could be at the same pace they were back in the 20s 30s etc. Things may not have been easier, especially during the depression, but the speed at which life was lived seems almost zen-like. I feel as though I'm from the wrong time and place.

brandy marston I won’t let it happen around me. I had baby wipes from a long time ago for my dog. Bought them in a huge box over 7 months ago. My dog is a bichon mix (white dog), so he gets grass and stains all over him. A mom posted on a local community page that she could not find baby wipes anywhere. I gave her four packs of the ones I had, which was all I had left. My dog can have stains, her baby needs wipes more than my dog does.

This has got to be the best series ever on Utube! Thank you Clara for sharing your wisdom and recipes. So many in today's world take all they have for granted and have never really known true suffering. I know there are plenty of (more than there should be) poor families but those aren't the ones in speaking of. So many fall victim to their own actions or lack there of. The families of the depression weren't poor for lack of willingness to work. In a lot of ways they had to work harder than some would ever consider today. The thing that strikes me most is her love and honesty. She just tells it like it is, Period!! What a generous gift her family has shared with all of us. Thank You! RIH Ms. Clara. Funny how some people can make you feel like you miss them and don't even know them. Your video popped up on my feed and I watched the "Poorman Meal" video. I saw a few more then saw the one of your passing. It made me sad. The fact that God blessed you with almost a century of living is amazing. I bet you had some of the best stories for your children and grandchildren. I have to agree with the comment before me - feeling like you're late to the party. God bless you Clara, even though you're no longer with us I've subscribed to your channel and I think in the past hour I've watched almost all of your videos. I lost my Nanna at a young age and although i live in Australia and discovered your beautiful video's long after you passed; you remind me of mine who also grew up in the great depression.

As I wipe my tears my grandmother was born the same year as dear Clara and boy do they speak in the same way!! It's unbelievable the same phrases and sense of humor. I hope they're hanging out and cooking in heaven together! My gram made "penny bean stew" (Sliced hotdogs and baked beans)
