(Note: Ceaned up errors due to speech to text) I did the move to USB of my apps, but what I found were problems with various apps which otherwise run flawlessly and smooth when installed on the internal device itself. For instance, Cinema HD simply acts erratic, freezes, then crashes. More often than not, it's not very accessible, particularly when searching. I noticed the same hiccups when using Xplore and other apps. Twice I moved them from USB back to device memory, and vice versa. I also restarted the Firestick after each change. The best performance was with the apps installed on the Firestick itself.
I use CHD a lot. I was hoping you could tell me if you are able to download from CHD content directly to your external memory? I upgraded from a 4K to a 4K max and have been unable directly like I could with the 4K using ADM. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the video. When you did this video on your main channel, I commented, but didn’t receive a response. It’s great to move apps to the usb to save space. The problem occurs whenever there is an app update. You have to delete the app and reinstall it, because the update won’t install until you do this. It will say there isn’t enough storage space.
When you do the copy to the Downloader on the original Internal drive how does it know to install it to the USB drive and not the original internal drive?

Why did the USB portion of storage disappear beside manage installed applications? As in the storage bars saying internal 3gb used of yada yada... The USBs storage bar below the internals isnt showing. Im just wondering why before i try this
Everything went well until the end when I clicked on "Install", it didn't do anything. Possibly die to an update that happened recently, not sure...the workaround is easy, just use "Open with--->>package installer". Also, having adb enabled when you're delving into MiXplorer sometimes causes the USB to shut down. If that's the case, I just turn off adb, unplug the USB, and plug it back in.

I tried to add an old 16GB PNY flash drive to my new Insignia Fire TV by plugging it into the USB port and formatting for storage as in your video but when I looked at the Device information it said External Storage was 0 B of 0 B free. I then put it back on the computer and formatted for FAT32 (it may have already been that since the result was so fast) and was able to successfully load some things on it indicating the device was OK. What was wrong on the TV? Do you need to use a new previously unused and unformatted device? Thanks for any help with this.
Pretty sure I follow the directions explicitly but for some reason when I installed it it didn't pop up saying it was installed and when I went to look at it it didn't have that little thumb drive icon next to it
This is a great application. After installing to the USB how do I delete the moved apps from the download folder? Now that Downloader don't show up and just a download folder I can't seem to be able to delete the files.

I need help with transfer data to the sd card. I use the Kodi app, and the data that it creates takes out alot of space. My firestick keeps on popping up the "memory is full, please remove some apps" message.
Since you can't uninstall any of the Amazon default apps installed on the Firestick, I'm assuming that also means you can't use this same method to move any of the default Amazon apps over to USB storage. Only apps NOT pre-installed on the Firestick.
I have followed all the steps twice over and I do not get the USB symbol anywhere, yet the files are going somewhere because I gained about 2 gigs of storage on my firestick. Hi. I thought you were moving the Apps to my External USB Drive, but I couldn't see it on MIX? When I went to the Internal of an app I copied, it turned out it was already on the Internal Download folder. So I can't see the benefit here of removing it. And going back to application, looks like it installed back to internal drive. Any suggestions? In notification i just saw a message saying Fire TV ca not access apps on this USB device.
What if you dont have the 4K MAX? For example, I don't receive a prompt. I do however see the usb drive using a file manager. Is there a way to still get these apps into an external usb drive AS an internal install?

Could You please make a tutorial explaining how to send the installed fireTV apps to the http server?, when I open the server on my broswer the app bookmark don't appear at the server, and when I try to write the adress of the file it says not found, thanks in advance
A great video. I have been using X-plore to move the apps from the internal storage to my USB. It is somewhat simpler to use having a two pane window, one for internal storage and the other for the app storage. All can be done on these two panels including deleting of the original app on internal storage, installing app on USB and then deleting APK file afterwards. Only thing is it does not transfer sign in details if you use them on any app so you have to re-enter them once transferred to USB. Keep up the good work.
I actually liked the fact you can move apps with X-Plore as well. I was also using it to log in directly into my Dropbox and Media Fire cloud accts to access my stored apks .
Hi, your videos are very good. I wanted to ask you something. I got to the point where I have to install the apk in downloader after deleting the application but it doesn't install the application, it doesn't install it directly, it doesn't do absolutely anything. Do you have any idea why that happens? It's as if it didn't do anything. Have you seen that when you hit install, a sign appears under the screen that says installing? .. well, nothing appears for me.
My smaller programs go to downloader and will install on my usb drive but the larger ones will not. Great Flix and Roku Channel simply stay on the internal storage.
Using the new 4kMax, formatted the 64gb usb storage, to external... For some reason on os8, it won't allow me to change the recording directory to usb storage.. On tivimate to record... My cube works flawlessly and old 4kmax works no problem.. Is there something blocking recording storage on the newest 4k Max that you know of? I am following steps, yet it does not put in usb? I go to Internal storage and Downloader, I can see the three files I copied there. This wasn't working for me. I was trying to put the apps on hard drives less than a GB, so I got a nice 64 GB Samsung Bar. Also, if the app doesn't install, use "package installer." Once I did these things, it all worked as it should.

Same problem that i am having. And now I am wondering if it would be better with an external hdd that is being powered by it's own ac/dc adapter.
The volume on mine malfunctions with the USB Apps. Have to crank it about 80%. Normally it would be at 30%.
Im using fire cube and Samsung fit for my external storage and all my apps that are moved all work just as they did on the fire cube itself

You can do this on any FireOS6 and higher device, however on fireOS6 you need ADB to do the initial drive format

You can do the same with mi-explorer, you can open multiple drop down tabs right next to each other. Even lock/pin them there.

I got to the point where I have to install the apk in downloader after deleting the application but it doesn't install the application, it doesn't install it directly, it doesn't do absolutely anything. Do you have any idea why that happens? It's as if it didn't do anything. Have you seen that when you hit install, a sign appears under the screen that says installing? .. well, nothing appears for me.

Can this be done with Kodi and other iptv streaming apps?
My smaller programs go to downloader and will install on my usb drive but the larger ones will not. Great Flix and Roku Channel simply stay on the internal storage.
Using the new 4kMax, formatted the 64gb usb storage, to external... For some reason on os8, it won't allow me to change the recording directory to usb storage.. On tivimate to record... My cube works flawlessly and old 4kmax works no problem.. Is there something blocking recording storage on the newest 4k Max that you know of? If not could you please do a new video explaining to us how to do it?
Is this also necessary to do for moving sideloaded apps to a usb? Or can they be moved to the usb directly from the Firestick menu without using a third-party app?
Are there certain apps which wont move from Firestick. e.g Amazon kids, Amazon photos etc?

I am following steps, yet it does not put in usb? I go to Internal storage and Downloader, I can see the three files I copied there. However when I go to Firestick applications there is no USB symbol, and all memory is being used?

My firestick storage is 5.35 gb i have 495mb left after amazon put thier appa on cant download. anything to internal storage as comes up not enough space
#firestick I know apps tend to store data on the firestick, even when they are installed on the 'sd' is there a easy way to clear this? what if you reset the firestick to factory default, would hte apps still work or would they need to be reinstalled before they would work?
I get as far as moving it to the internal storage part , click install and no notifications to say it has and check app section to see if USB icon there and nothing.. I have put a USB stick in tv also. My tv is built in Amazon tv... Why is this not working

This wasn't working for me. I was trying to put the apps on hard drives less than a GB, so I got a nice 64 GB Samsung Bar. Also, if the app doesn't install, use "package installer." Once I did these things, it all worked as it should.
