- This tutorial looks at how to sculpt fire for 3D printing, what tools to use and some of the elements to think about so that it looks right on your model.
This is also a great starting project if you haven't tried sculpting before as its all flowing lines and you can't really go that wrong when you know what to do.

IMPORTANT: They have changed the shortcuts in an update to Blender. Now it's just "r" to bring up the remesh size and ctrl+r to remesh.
I'm late to the game here, but thanks for the tutorial. I have looking into baby stepping into the sculpting elements of blender and this might be the perfect first step!
My pleasure. I hope it goes well, sculpting is a lot of fun and quite a different feel to other modelling in Blender.
This video is a lifesaver. I'll certainly refer to it many many times. Thank you!!!
Great to hear 😁
Really enjoyed making this, I love making fire now thanks🔥🔥🔥🔥🥳
😁 That's great to hear. I really enjoy the process too, it's quite relaxing for some reason. I feel the same about sculpting wood
This is perfect! I'll use this technique to make a vortex of fire.
Sounds awesome! If you post it anywhere please do share the link. 👌
Great tutorial!!
Thanks man 😁
This looks great, just what I was looking for thanks!
No problem. Glad you found it as it doesn't seem to get covered much for some reason.
@@ArtisansofVaul I hope you get more views, great tutorial. I’ll no doubt binge your videos now I’ve found your channel, hope it helps! 😁
@oleww50 Cheers. I probably have some algorithm thing that means I could get more views but as long as people find what they need I'm happy 👍🏻
Hot damn, fire goes really well with this
Glad you like it 👍🏻
Awesome!
Thanks 😁
You’re on form now man!
Cheers. Just wrapped up the video for Monday as well to help sculpting fire or similar for people without a tablet.
could you explain why use a quad sphere over a uv sphere of is it just down to personal preference
A UV sphere subdivides horribly because the top and bottom are all triangles going to one point so the mesh will be really uneven. A quad sphere doesn't have that issue.
Did I miss something? Because when I press shift + r to remesh, nothing happens.
👍🏻 They have changed the shortcuts in an update to Blender. Now it's just "r" to bring up the remesh size and ctrl+r to remesh. I'll add an update to the description. Thanks for flagging.
@@ArtisansofVaul thank you.
anyway to remash with geometry that has a hole in it?
I'm not sure to be honest, I don't think I've tried. How did it get a hole in it? I would probably use something like the gridfill tool to sort the hole out and then remesh from there?
@@ArtisansofVaul i’m trying to sculpt the fire so it’d work sort of like a sleeve onto other geometry so i need a hole in it. But actually i can just make the hole later.
Thanks man!
@@santaiswhite no worries.
