Amira's father is an amateur pianist and organist, her mother and brother are violinists, and her maternal grandfather was an operatic tenor. Amira watches the great divas of the past on TH-cam and sings along with them from an early age. But she has had no formal training. She took part in and won Holland's Got Talent at the age of 9, with her performances now exceeding 100 million views each. She signed a contract with Sony Masterworks (!) and only then got a coach to record her first album. This album won a gold record in just a few weeks and “Voi che sapete” reached number one on classical FM radio in Europe, making her the youngest soprano ever to achieve this feat. She is currently 20 years old and studying BMus at university, her first instrument being classical singing and her second orchestral conducting. Amira is the best. She is Dutch and was visiting Iceland. The tenor is from Iceland, his name is Gissur Pall Gissurarson. She had just sung the opera aria, O mio babbino caro, solo, before he joined her on this one. It's on YT. She was 11 here, when she was 9, she had won Holland's got Talent, singing this Ave Maria at the semi-final stage. The lyrics are the prayer - Hail Mary. Mother of God, blessed be the fruit of thy womb, Jesus, pray for us sinners now, and at the hour of our death. Not sure if she is singing in Italian or Latin. She's easy singing in either tongue anyway. She's 20 now. And still singing beautifully. Last year she released a live version of Phantom of the Opera, partnered by South African, Ruhan du Toit. And in comparison, it was nothing special for what she's otherwise achieved. I'm thinking of her three appearances on “Holland's Got Talent”. Or her performance with Andre Rieu at the age of 10 or “Ave Maria (Gomez)” at the age of 11 or “Amazing Grace” at the age of 13 or “Your Love” at the same age or “La Vergine Degli Angeli” at the age of 16......etc. etc. I think in comparison to these performances, this one was (only) not bad
