One of my first luxury purchases was a LV monogramme Speedy 25. I spent ages finding one in my price range, looked forward excitedly to receive it, unboxed (no faults with the bag at all) and instantly knew: no! This style doesn´t suit me at all. Much later this bag, that I never wore, turned out the perfect graduation present for my daughter, who clearly rocks it.
This is why I dont buy from consignment websites. You just dont know what you are getting at the end of the day. Same with any online purchase really. Half the time, I always end up returning because I wouldnt have purchased it if I saw it in person. I am a big believer of seeing and examining things first before you buy. Even more for used items that are being sold for thousands of dollars. I would never buy a piece of antique furniture without seeing it in person and what kind of condition it is in, so why would I buy a bag which is much more fragile?
It's very important to take your bags out on nice dates 🥰Sweep them off their feet! You know I'm not one to rush into 'never' statements, but it's pretty safe to say I'll never feel comfortable buying bags from the RR. I don't understand how they can care this little about their reputation. Always down to hear more stories!
And that's my worst fear every time I buy a pre-loved bag 😅 everything sounds perfect and as soon as arrives becomes a nightmare 🙈 Glad you're able to get your money back 🤩
I bought an LV wallet from them that had 3 pics posted on the site. When I received it, it had 3 initials hot stamped on the inside. I contacted them with the pics that were posted and pics of what I received. They allowed me to return it, waived the shipping fee, and gave me a $25 credit on my next purchase. Customer service is good, but I wish they would just disclose these things from the beginning.
I bought a black vintage Chanel bag a year or two ago. The sealed box had a peculiar odor. When I opened the box, the strong smell of cigarette odor filled the room. I immediately called the company and asked for a total refund. Strong odor was not in the description of the bag. If I am looking at used bags, I stay away from bags with any issues with odor. Within 20 minutes of the call, that bag was boxed up and out of the house. The company representative was very nice. I won't buy expensive bags from the Real Real anymore. Not enough photos and a no-return policy are big turn-offs.
Thank you for this video! I enjoyed it very much and can fully understand why you finally fought to send this purchase back. Btw. finding a safety pin inside a bag can´t really shock me. I once bought a leather biker jacket from a house clearance seller. As it was fairly dirty (disclosed in the listing and fully reflected in the price) I wore gloves to unwrap it and clean it up immediately, but reaching into a pocket and digging out some dried up used condoms really turned my stomach upside down.
For me it’s buying from fashionphile due to some bags claimed excellent condition but turned out had stains sticky pockets .the return process was gruesome
I've purchased several things from resale vendors throughout time. I have to say that buying on-line, not being able to touch or view the merchandise and a no return policy is a huge red flag for me. I've purchased things through major online redistributors which smelled awful, and I actually kept some clothes thinking I could use detergent and smell removers to remove some of the smells. Yeah, that doesn't work. I ended up throwing most of the things away to get rid of the awful smells!!! I will NEVER buy a very expensive handbag second hand. If I have $4K to spend, someone is going to get me some water and/or champagne, for one item. Too many people picking up stuff from Goodwill, selling or reselling fakes, or even dumpster diving giving honest good resale bad names. You see it all the time on Facebook videos! It's a shame. I'm personally, never buying used again (sight unseen). Too many negative encounters. I now figure, if I can't purchase an item through a reliable vendor, it wasn't meant for me (no matter what the purchase is). Smiles! Glad you were able to get your money back.
OMG yes! I was a buyer from TRR in the past for very inexpensive items that I am very familiar with. Purchased a Hermes clutch. Got it, immediately knew it was not authentic. It was a hassle but I was able to get a refund. Never again!
Isn’t it crazy how we are willing to settle or even consider a crap of a bag that we really want and have been hunting. I like you had to step back a couple of times and say wait a min, for this amnt I deserve better. Glad you fought for your money. Also hope you find one soon.
They completely ghosted me after reminding me that they do not accept returns on premium luxury bags. I got stuck with a fake Birkin bag and lost my money. My Advice: DO NOT BUY FROM THE REAL REAL.
Yeah, the real real just makes me nervous. Their practice of only using 4 photos is just not revealing enough, especially for expensive handbags. I did buy a Coco Crush mini ring in white gold and it was great! I'm glad I bought it, especially with the price increases. But I'm not sure about a handbag or the hassle of perhaps returning it. I'm glad your Hermes turned out so well in your favor!! 🙂🙂🙂
I don't remember whose video it was, but they said The Real Real is going down the drain. They are closing down physical shops and there's not enough staff with expertise to authenticate the stock. So people end up buying fakes 😧
I am glad you were able to return it with the shipping! I enjoy looking up the bags associated with vintage Chanel serial numbers. Do you have a certain favorite series? I hope you find this bag in lambskin 🤎😘
Thank you! I think my favorite lambskin are 3 series and 5 series. Both are quite thick and durable while still being very soft 🥰 I'm looking for an early 1 series too though!
Wow, i’m glad you were able to get a refund with only minor hassle. Does The Real Real even opens bags to look inside before listing them!? 🧷 The right vintage Chanel chevron Lambskin will come your way in due time. It’s almost a blessing that this bag had egregious undisclosed damage, so you didn’t have to address the authentication question directly. I’m really coming around to thinking of the “authentication” consignment sites offer as being akin to a seller’s agent in real estate. The buyer needs someone in their corner as well! In an ideal world, the site would reimburse buyers’ authentication fees in case of failure.
At this point I'm fairly confident in my authenticating vintage Chanel (though I would check with a third party anyway!) but altogether yes I'm sort of glad the bag had issues and I was able to return it. It's a beautiful style, but that one wasn't for me!
Have you ever bought something that was an immediate no?

Much later this bag, that I never wore, turned out the perfect graduation present for my daughter, who clearly rocks it.
That's a story that worked out in the end! Kudos to you for keeping the bag long enough to pass it on to your daughter ❤️

I've had some wins buying online, but I certainly understand your perspective!
That was a good decision to return it. It’s also suspicious that the serial number was scratched off.
“Not because I wanted to take it out to dinner” 😂
Very important to wine and dine your bags 😂
The last bag I got from TRR had $22 in the only inside pocket 😂 I was happy to catch it on video!
😂😂 better than an open safety pin for sure!
It’s the open safety pin for me. 😂Thank you for sharing your story!
Thank you for watching!
Yes, please to the story time! I love to listen to your stories!
Thank you so much! I worry I'm too rambly 😅
Not at all rambly! Interesting, intelligent and entertaining!
It's very important to take your bags out on nice dates 🥰Sweep them off their feet!

Wine and dine the bag, always 😁😂
Wow, thanks for sharing! Although I’ve thought about it in the past for preowned discontinued pieces, I haven’t purchased from TRR.
And that's my worst fear every time I buy a pre-loved bag 😅 everything sounds perfect and as soon as arrives becomes a nightmare 🙈 Glad you're able to get your money back 🤩
Me too!

I'm glad your experience turned positive at least!
Love The RealReal. Sure, mistakes happen in every resale platform, but they make it right!

Cigarette smell is one of the worst! I'm glad you were able to return it!
This was such a fun video! And I’m sure the perfect Chanel in lambskin is out there- even without the safety pin 😂
I don't know, maybe that's considered an accessory now 😂
Thank you for this video! I enjoyed it very much and can fully understand why you finally fought to send this purchase back.

😱😱😱 your story beats out mine!!
For me it’s buying from fashionphile due to some bags claimed excellent condition but turned out had stains sticky pockets .the return process was gruesome
Lol! I found a Qtip in the back pocket of mine. At least they’re consistent.
Bleh! 😂
I can’t believe they don’t check over their bags - an open safety pin - WTF!!!!!. I would love to hear your story in regards to the clothing brand
Right? I'm glad I didn't get poked. But from the real real, get tetanus 😂
@@classicswithaquirk oh my goodness, the danger of the bag purchase🫣🤒

For sure, I hear all the time about people settling in quality because they really want the item. But we shouldn't settle, especially at these prices!
They completely ghosted me after reminding me that they do not accept returns on premium luxury bags. I got stuck with a fake Birkin bag and lost my money. My Advice: DO NOT BUY FROM THE REAL REAL.
Their name said it all for me, the Real Real, like they’re trying to perceive you they really sale real stuff!
Yeah, the real real just makes me nervous. Their practice of only using 4 photos is just not revealing enough, especially for expensive handbags. I found a dead bug in the first bag I purchased from the Real Real!
Yuck!!
I don't remember whose video it was, but they said The Real Real is going down the drain. They are closing down physical shops and there's not enough staff with expertise to authenticate the stock. So people end up buying fakes 😧
I've seen videos and articles to that effect. They closed down their store in Chicago (and only a few weeks before I went to visit).
When I read the title of your video I couldn't help thinking that maybe you found a dead cockroach in the bag...
Alert!! Fashionphile changed their terms for returns. 15 day return from the ship date (😳😡) and there is now a charge to return, $14.99.
I saw!! I can't believe there's a charge to return now 😩
I refuse to buy from them with their pathetic pictures
I am glad you were able to return it with the shipping! I enjoy looking up the bags associated with vintage Chanel serial numbers. Do you have a certain favorite series? I hope you find this bag in lambskin 🤎😘
Thank you! I think my favorite lambskin are 3 series and 5 series. Both are quite thick and durable while still being very soft 🥰 I'm looking for an early 1 series too though!
Serial number scratched so illegible. Can’t match with auth. card!
