It's a very clever solution to a real problem. Regardless of what Sawstop say, this is a new and unique solution, that in no way infringes on any copyright or patent. I like it better than the Sawstop product because it doesn't wreck a blade. At $45 a go it's pretty cheap insurance actually. I would however prefer it to be in a cabinet saw.
Awesome demonstration. It just proved that the Saw Stop is better. SawStop tried to license the technology to Bosch a couple years ago. Bosch declined and looks liked they decided to just rip it off. Sue......
+Tec 9 you're dodging the question. for the sake of argument, assume it is in the shelves. why is SawStop better? I see a lot of comments here that sawstop is better but nobody explains why. I ask you why and you dodge the question. again, if reaxx is non-destructive to the blade and each shot costs less, why if sawstop still better?
+Tec 9 that's all you got? clearly that was a flaw in the demonstration model in the video which they would investigate and fix. it obviously can't be a feature. so you basically still don't have an answer to why sawstop would be better. shame.
It just came out in the news today that SawStop is sueing Bosch to halt the importation of this saw. So much for the good Dr Gass wanting to help prevent saw injuries. This REAXX has a better idea and will/would surely take market share.
+trippplefive SawStop is suing. The suit bans importation or sale of the Bosch until adjudication. You can Google it and see for yourself just Google Bosch lawsuit or click this link:www.woodworkingnetwork.com/news/woodworking-industry-news/sawstop-sues-block-bosch-reaxx-saw
The ban of importation is on the grounds of patent infringement. That stops the importation to countries in which Saw Stop has an approved patent. Since they do not have a patent in the country the REAXX was made in they can not stop production of it in any way.
Yeah, but the point is that at this time Bosch cannot sell it in the US. ALTHOUGH, www.boschtools.com/us/en/, this Bosch site says it will be available next June; that is 5 days from now. June 2016.
I slowed the playback down, and yes that first attempt was a misfire. I now have the 4100, so I'm thinking I'd want to upgrade at some point. My question to Bosch: If the saw misfires, as shown in this clip, will Bosch send me a free cartridge?
I think I'll just keep being careful , anyone I've talked to that lost digits or got bit were being careless, not unskilled, they were just comfortable around the saw and trying to get it done fast, Its easy to become comfortable and not think twice working around saws.. I like my fingers and after seeing these guys as kids I keep that missing digit thought and respect the saw.
I like the fact that Bosch requires a single cartridge type for single or dado blade. Saw Stop requires Two (2) different cartridge types, one for single blade, another for dado blade. Bosch misfire, may or may not be correct. Anyone consider there could have been moisture from the hot dog on the Styrofoam pad and it made contact with blade before the hot dog? I was present at a a Saw Stop demonstration and watch an experienced demonstrator struggle to clear a blade jam with the cartridge. Stuff happens right
Simple physics tells us that If the blade isn’t taking the impact of the sudden stop, then the machine itself is taking that abuse. So I surmise that the reason this saw is not out on the marketplace is one of two reasons: First the inventor of the superior SawStop technology is a patent lawyer who has successfully patented the “flesh-sensing technology” and is being protected by his over 100 patents on this technology. So it’s plausible that Bosch has a cease-and-desist order in place from SawStop. Secondly, since the blade itself is not absorbing the sudden stop, then the transfer of kinetic energy has to be going into the saw itself, and probably causing irreparable damage and probably catastrophic and extremely dangerous component failure which is why, three years after this video, we still don’t see this product on the marketplace.
So John, after seeing the demo live in person, do you feel safer about leaving your lunch on the table saw knowing your brats will be fine? Now that I've seen the video, I should have stayed an extra day!
If I could choose between either SawStop or Bosch right now, I'd choose SawStop. I don't care for nor want a jobsite saw. I want a cabinet saw. The cost of replacing a triggering is higher for SawStop, but it's acceptable to me. Due to Bosch's non destructive system I suspect SawStop may go the way of the beta tape. It's early yet. Competition has a way of bringing out the best.
Well the first attempt here showed a misfire, as soon as the wood touched the saw blade it went off. The brat wasn't even close yet. I have yet to see a sawstop misfire.
Fall of 2015 has come and gone. This comment is aimed at Bosch and anyone who cares to reply with some useful and confirmed information. The announced Fall 2015 product release has passed and no news from Bosch about the ReaXX availability or if it will ever come to market. We all know about the Saw Stop Lawsuit. Give us some news. Customers and potential customers are not served well with the total silence treatment. Please keep us all informed.
go to bosch them self you can buy from the cpo web sight they show to have them in stock i am looking at them as well just sent a email request to see if it is true i can get from this sight. just weighting on response.
Definitely more wrong here than the " $45.00 " "MISFIRE. "... At around 1:49 0r so, the motor starts up good and strong but, right before the so called misfire, the rpms. and motor strength drops drastically. This was BEFORE anything touched the guard or the blade.?.? They really need to figure out and fix ALL the problems going on here. Maybe that's why this particular item seems to have become a "ghost" in the marketplace...IMO. Anyone else notice this?
A few years late to the party here, but it looks like it was a patent issue. Sawstop's inventor knew his way around the patent office. He filed a ton of them. This bosch saw was found to be in violation of at least 2 of them. It can't be sold without bosch licensing the rights to the patent or waiting until they expire. I believe they still have a couple more years and sawstop may be able to file extensions to keep them going even longer.
That is a dick move by Sawstop. Takes away a crucial safety mechanism from a lot of saws from the market thus, making it very expensive for anyone to be able to afford it. A lot of fingers could had been saved every year but no, Sawstop decided to be a dick about it.
If you slow down the video the saw activates long before the hot dog is even close to the blade, you can here the motor start to slow down right as he begins to move the wood near the blade. I call either BS or a bad camera
+david nelson so true. Ive been a working carpenter for quite some time without cutting a finger. BUT I cant count on my employees to have judgment as good as you do. $1,500 to avoid a comp claim and raise in rates is money well spent .
+Travis Vodden good point. A decent contractor table saw will cost about $400 and the REAXX is $1100. I'd say $1100 to hedge against higher workers comp costs is a good investment. Not to mention when you factor in how easy it is to get distracted.

why is saw stop better? some would think $49.50 a pop and a non-destructive system is better.
Bosch REAXX will never see the shelf. So no need to debate it.

+adtc Sawstop does not trigger if you touch the guard.

+Jeff Stanley if they stole SawStop's patented technology, why wouldn't the owner of that company sue?

Thanks Sawstop... Couldn't handle some friendly competition huh? This was pulled from the market.
Not quite, they infringed on SawStops patent (they copied their design)

Yes it misfired. The Bosch guy didn't admit it and it seems no one standing around questioned this. Weird.

+Steven W. This saw will never see daylight. If you want the feature, Saw Stop is your choice. Saw Stop is better anyways.

Tec 9 You sir are wrong. Bosch is now selling the saw and it was just on This Old House with Tommy.

Useless as a hot dog cutting device.
The blade didn't even touch the hot dog. Before you debate me take the time to watch the video frame by frame
If you slow down the video the saw activates long before the hot dog is even close to the blade, you can here the motor start to slow down right as he begins to move the wood near the blade. I call either BS or a bad camera
Sneaky Matt Risenger checking out the Bosch REAXX. Ha.
This is way batter system than sawstop, as they dont mess up blade
Yeah but it's almost twice the price.
👍bosch
Bullshit. The Sausage was 2 inches from the blade.
optimistichorizon yeah, the first attempt turned out to be a misfire.. later in the video they run it again and it works properly
Failed in the right way I guess. Would have probably killed the saw if the had been demoing it and it cut the hot dog in half.
your absolutely right!!
They copied sawstop
$1500??? Pay attention and you won't cut your finger off

+david nelson Don't wear a seatbelt, because if you would just pay attention you wont be in a wreck.
+Tec 9 is this where you want to be when Jesus comes back? Talking shit on TH-cam?
david nelson No such thing as Jesus. There's no invisible man in the sky granting wishes.
