i really appreciate the attention to detail that Jim showed my old clubs!!I'm so happy with the new shafts...I'm sure the kids at Dicks who kept throwing more glue at it didn't really understand what they were doing. So much for saving money on a reshaft....
I totally agree and have never loaned out any of my golf or other sports equipment but have you noticed how 'funny' people are when you decline? It's almost like they feel they have a right to borrow it!
With an after market shaft. Which most likely costed $250+ extra. When you take the time and money to be fitted for a golf club, it becomes more than "olny" a club.
Love these videos. I've been doing club work for three years now (hobby only and helping my buddies) but I learn something new from you Jim every video! Question: Is it better to wear some sort of mask when burning epoxy? I'm seeing a lot of fumes coming off that connector? Whenever you are in your workshop I'm reminded of Jack Nicholson's / Joker's line in the first Batman movie...."Where does he get all these great toys!" 🙂 Just asking about the mask protection ....Once again love it! Subbed / Likes / Comment as often as I can sir!
Very interesting. Just one question. You mention the flame can get the shaft or club head too hot if you are not careful. Why not use a heat gun then, is it because the flame can be directed and isolated better? Great video many thanks.
Any advice on a place to get some used introductory club building tools. Mainly looking for a shaft puller and a lie angle machine. New ones seem to cost a fortune.
I have a Cobra Speed Zone 10.5 driver that I purchased used. Played with it most of the spring and summer with mixed results. My golfing buddy noticed my strikes seemed to be erratic at best. He finally suggested that maybe the club had a potential issue. I layed the driver aside and began using my old Ping G-20 3 fairway wood. I immediately gained 30-40 yards on my previous driver distances. Have you ever found drivers to go "dead"? I've looked it over carefully and can't detect any cracks. Shaft and hosel seem to be fine. The performance is very lack luster at best.
Do you ever do anything with refinishing and replating different metals to irons? I do club repair for a custom shop in South Carolina and am looking at expanding our offerings
I've just bought a Ping G driver head and want to put my current driver shaft on the club as it was fitted to my swing. Can you recommend an aftermarket shaft hosel adaptor for a Ping G driver. Where on the old shaft do I need to measure to get the right size for the tip diameter?
does anyone use the PETRONIO’S #8 RUBBER CEMENT to install grips(instead of the conventional way)- it allows you to just blow the grip off and re use the grip anytime you want. Its handy especially when/ if you wanna shorten or add length without having to just cut the grip off and install a new grip every time. I am constantly tinkering with length/swing weight so I have some grips I've taken off and put back on 6-7 times with no problems. Its really simple instead of sticky tape you use just plain masking tape-the glue bonds to the tape after a few minutes. You have to use something other than a Lamkin grip- most of those will still blow up(with the air hose) and have to be discarded. I use golf pride and super soft-no problems installing and re installing. It only takes about 30-50 lbs of pressure to blow the grip off when installed via the cement and I've never had a grip break lose from the glue during play. Just search for it online-a place here in Memphis sells it by the gallon. A gallon should last a few dozen set builds at least.
I would like to attempt my own repair. Just a few questions: Can acetone or lacquer thinner be used to dissolve the epoxy inside the hole? For adhesive, can JB Weld be used? What is final diameter of drill bit? Thank you.
Hi Jim Great video but I have a couple of questions. What type of wheel did you use and if you placed any type of compound on the wheel? Also, what type of wax did you use to polish the head after using the wheel? Thanks for you help. Really enjoy your videos
Just to say love your channel and I will only regrip clubs myself as with the right products and tools it ok but for repairs I would let professionals like yourself take care of the job.
So me being an impatient teen golfer, I assembled Apex CF16s to DG 120’s (pulls from Ping i210s) with JB Weld...it worked ok. None of the heads have flown off yet. My 5 iron head was cracked so I had to buy one. The new one was filled with glue and metal spacers like someone stuffed it. I ended up drilling it out with what I thought was the correct sized bit. It was too big. After glueing it and letting it set, the next day I look at it and the and head and shaft were not straight. The head was stock lie, but the shaft made it feel 5* upright. Oops.
Question sir? I'm seeing quite a drop off in distance with shots hit towards the toe, within the score lines of hollow back irons. I'm thinking that these heads aren't perimeter weighted. My question, is there a iron head that can be hit towards the toe without a lot of loss of distance. My Mizuno 900's dont seem to have this issue unless you really get it on the toe. Have you experienced this with any of your hollow back heads? Thanks.
The hollow back irons typically don’t have as much”meat” around the perimeter in order to have a back on them. It’s all distribution of weight. One could say the there’s more face to rebound so the ball go better. When I say hollow body, I’m talking about sets such as the launch or launch pad irons not, 790s or modb1 irons
Jb weld is not a good idea it does not withstand repeated banging. Get some golf shaft epoxy n some shafting beads both r very inexpensive. Th beads are are like very smooth superfine sand, that helps center th shaft during install. N helps adhesion.
i thought the same thing. i wanted to message him politely and say great videos keep going but try to have things focused a little better. but props for tons of subs and a youtube channel and not to mention the ability to fix things
It's crazy to me that some drivers look so beat up! I have a Ping 410 like what 1 or 2 years old.....looks brand new damn near...just a little scuffing on the face...I mean very little
i really appreciate the attention to detail that Jim showed my old clubs!!I'm so happy with the new shafts...I'm sure the kids at Dicks who kept throwing more glue at it didn't really understand what they were doing. So much for saving money on a reshaft....
And the moral of the Tale is "Never lend your buddies anything and especially not your Golf Clubs"!
I totally agree and have never loaned out any of my golf or other sports equipment but have you noticed how 'funny' people are when you decline?
It's almost like they feel they have a right to borrow it!
The one dislike on this video is from the guy who did the initial “repair” lol
@Chris P Bacon The third is from literally the only other guy in the world who would attempt a repair like that
Thanks for bringing us along to see how to reverse this type of "repair".
Best part... “my friend did it” hahaha surrre
Are you the guy who owns that driver
Acetone will remove the epoxy. Hot water to remove the ferrule. The hot water will loosen the glue without damaging or discoloring the shaft.
This is awesome to watch, club building is such an art. I love watching these videos.
Great repair. Looks new again.
Bravo... My Respect for your patience and knowledge...
Wow, that looked like such a pain, but just shows how great you work Jim!
stuff happens.... it's only a club...great video on the repair.
that puller is top shelf....
With an after market shaft. Which most likely costed $250+ extra. When you take the time and money to be fitted for a golf club, it becomes more than "olny" a club.
@@JayCHales then be more careful who you lend it out to....most golfers I know don't have expensive rigs.

Love your shop and work.

Awesome. Was that the most unique fix you have ever had? Learning about those would make a unique show or podcast. Awesome job as always.
Any more the old golf stuff is unique, removing pins, wrapping hostels etc.
What buffing wheel do you use ?
This entire video all I thought is buffing the head and im glad you did that haha
Now I’m waiting for a part 2. Apoxsee the new adapter and take a few swings at it. Maybe even the customers reaction
nice video man. I have a question, my driver club face has a crack, can that be repaired?
what compound was on the wheel to buff out the scratches? i have a driver head that could use some of that love.
Any advice on a place to get some used introductory club building tools. Mainly looking for a shaft puller and a lie angle machine. New ones seem to cost a fortune.
As always love the video. Thank you.

Finished repair would be nice to see
Awesome job
What’s best way to get scratches and scuffs off or filled in on a new demo club I just purchased
Many more rounds for that club in the future. Well done Jim.
You might try using a Dremel Tool with a long grinding stone bit.
Great job on buffing out the scratches on the head. What type of buffing wheel is that? I'd be scared of using anything too abrasive? Thanks.
It’s an 8 “ unstitched budding wheel and yellow polish
Covid leads me to exotic channels.
Hi Jim, when you were buffing the head, where you using Gland wax or a buffing compound on the wheel.
Yes. This is a great polish for that type work
Good vid would like too see how the screw and washer are replaced always seem to have a problem with that part of it
Do you ever do anything with refinishing and replating different metals to irons? I do club repair for a custom shop in South Carolina and am looking at expanding our offerings
from a polishing standpoint i do however refinishing is very time consuming and regulatory expensive.
Really nice work sir, thank you for sharing it.
Good job. Did you make your own shaft extractor. Very different from the one I know. Thanks
No this was designed by another club maker and no longer in production
Nice work! You're videos are somewhat therapeutic to watch for me. Do use any type of compound on your buffer wheel?
I've just bought a Ping G driver head and want to put my current driver shaft on the club as it was fitted to my swing. Can you recommend an aftermarket shaft hosel adaptor for a Ping G driver. Where on the old shaft do I need to measure to get the right size for the tip diameter?
Great video but I would have liked to see the club completely finished and put together at the end.

I broke a callaway razr edge 9iron shaft how much do they cost ?
I would like to attempt my own repair. Just a few questions: Can acetone or lacquer thinner be used to dissolve the epoxy inside the hole? For adhesive, can JB Weld be used? What is final diameter of drill bit? Thank you.
A great video. Just wondering, what would you typically charge for something like this?
It was the cost of a shaft pull and a few more for the head clean out including the new adapter
Hi Jim
Great video but I have a couple of questions. What type of wheel did you use and if you placed any type of compound on the wheel? Also, what type of wax did you use to polish the head after using the wheel? Thanks for you help.

Good job not being too hard on "the friend".
The customer and "the friend" are sometimes the same person.
Excellent job. Subscribed so I can see more of your work. Thanks.
Why did you not clean the glue out of the head with a small Sandblaster?

The "thread cleaner thing" would just be a tap. Nice save! on the club
You need to keep the items further back then zoom in afterwards, the camera isn't auto focusing for 'macro' type shots.
Love the series either way.
Realised i sounded quite douce then, not my intent btw!
All due respects, applying heat to a graphite shaft creates a weak spot. The shaft will break in the future.
Hey all you buddies out there..., remember, if you break it, you own it..! Do the right thing..!!
would of love to have seen the finished result, even if it was a 20 second bit at the end of the vid
Acetone will break down epoxy but what it will do to other components of the driver head I don’t know. 100% Acetone...
It also likes to eat paint, liberal amount on the ferrule is ok but every where else is minimize
Nice job
Great job Mr. McGolf!
How do you fix the callaway part??? Just remove the logos???lol
Nice... first time I've ever seen someone actually try and glue an adapter in like that! Nice "interlude" music... have a song credit to post?
a royalty free music fro youtube
“Loaned his driver to a friend” first big mistake!
neat vent system...

I think if you mess up your buddy's club......own up to it. That repair may have been done before you borrowed it. Don't make it worse! :)
Had my R9 Taylor made bought it brand new and after 10year I hit the ball and the head split in half ,got a new driver now
Just send broken head to TaylorMade theyll send send u a new free driver. Any golf co. Will
@@mikehogi not in oz they won't u get nothing for free here in oz
Love to see a craftsman at work!
sometimes you're showing us things at the bottom of the frame where its hard to see what you're pointing out. Just some friendly feedback

I just watched this 3 year old vid. MCgolf, you just F this guys driver head. Id ask the boys at golf works how to do this properly.
Good friend then.
My friends never ask to use my clubs because I’m left handed and they’re right handed
neat story.
I'm no expert, but if someone told me they were going to epoxy my shaft adapter into the head I'd not allow them around my clubs.
Ah, so you can buff off the sky ball marks.
Too bad about the focus issues.
2 things is not for loan my wife an golf clubs hahahahahahahahahahahaha
I love my friends but I would never loan my clubs to them.....ever.
I have the first set I picked up a few years ago still around just for this reason
Nice repair, lots of idiots working on clubs.....
Hehehe Fire! Fire!
No worries, just blow it out LOL
Did anyone else blow on your phone when the club was on fire 😂🤣😂🤣🤦♂️
😲
If u hav sky marx jus use fingernail polish
Your auto Focus sucks! Otherwise great video thank you
Quit being poor and just get a new club ffs
