    I’ve been to Finland many times. I have friends there. If you stay away from the large cities it is the best place on earth to live.
    I reckon its got another two or three decades before it’s ruined by the nonsense that’s destroyed the rest of Europe, you touched on it towards the end of your video, but for the meantime enjoy, what a fabulous place.

    It’s interesting how we finns are shy and kinda introverted when interacting with other finns. But when we are, for example, talking to foreigners, we are much more open and talkative. Or maybe it’s just me.

      Finns are more talkative these days. In Britain, many people are now afraid to speak because they're worried that they might offend somebody over some nonsense woke issue.

    Minimum mount of pesticides is good for the people too. Finns in general tend to emphasize fresh ingredients in food and the taste of the main ingredients themselves rather than spices. There's still quite a lot of plastic packaging here too compared to past though. The operators probably like to get writ of the landlines, but they are still in use. So that might be a local thing.

    The daylight savings time is stupid, but then you have the question of which timezone to adopt. Society runs by clocks, not by sunlight, though sunlight would affect on how people act within that framework.
    I like the long, light summer nights and wouldn't mind having more light in the winter evenings, so I'd prefer UTC+3. It would move more light nearer a time where people have more free time to enjoy it. The normal (i.e. winter) time is UTC+2, which would rob summer nights some daylight and keep the winter evenings as dark as they now are. I don't know how many people get to enjoy the daylight in the winter mornings anyway or how many want more light in the summer mornings. Adopting CET would be just stupid, because it would really cut on winter evenings' light and shorten summer nights. I think it might have effect on population wintertime exercise, etc., and tourism in general, since tourists are on holiday so they prefer to sleep long and stay up late.
    The globe is round. There are limits to how far you can stretch timezones without it starting to have real world effects.

    • @nigelwatson2750
      @nigelwatson2750  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you in Helsinki? In Pori, further north, in mid December it doesn't get properly light until 9.30am, so it doesn't really matter

    • @blechtic
      @blechtic 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nigelwatson2750 So, like I said, there's no point in shifting light from the evening to the morning i.e. moving to a more western timezone. The opposite would be more helpful.
      Also, WTF is "cultural marxism"? Marx talked about the relationship of labour and capital, not 21st century cultural issues.
      Sounds like made up right-wing propaganda terminology made to get a partisan reaction out of non-leftist people and to lump unconnected issues together by presenting them as an ideology to be fought against wholecloth as a divisive culture war instead of allowing each issue to be discussed separately intelligently on practical basis.

      We left the UK because I resenting being asked for my name and address to go to a pub or restaurant in Britain. Finland never went down the full Nazi route. Brexit is a nothing burger. What stops most Brits from emigrating is that they can't speak other languages, so it's hard for them to earn an income abroad. Most Brits are also inflexible. They want to wander around in their White Panama hats, jeans, and flip flops and pretend that the sun still doesn't set on the British empire. @@mizulightblue No, it's certainly NOT free. When I lived in England I earned a fairly modest wage as a secondary school teacher. My marginal income tax rate was 40%, on top of that, the government stole another 10% or so in National Insurance, then when I spent what was left of my income after direct taxes I was hit by VAT of 20% plus other indirect taxes, such as excise duty on stuff like petrol and booze - e.g. over £10 on a bottle of scotch!!

    1. Wish there was more hills & mountains.
    2. Why the give way to the right???
    3. Not selling real wine in supermarkets.
    4. Too many English speakers means not much reason to learn Finnish.
    5. The national food is mainly carbs stacked on carbs, e.g. rice inside doughnuts.
    6. Absurd ID system.
    7. Cars are a bit dear.
    8. Feels like the best days are behind it with politics and its getting more corrupted by EU & NATO.
    9. A lot of the older architecture has been replaced with ghastly grey high rises.
    10. In the eastern part Finns are friendly. Strangers talk to me a lot, which I was told would seldom happen here. I believe the west is much more reserved (Sweden-Russian influences I guess).

      3. Alko sells good wine, not too expensive either. In comparison, UK supermarkets sell cheaper, but largely undrinkable wine.
      5. Food in most countries has become carb-heavy
      8. Sadly, this is also the case for many countries, especially Britain.
      10. Finns reckon that they're quiet & reserved, but they're not!

      @Snowstorm Hehe all countries are corrupt. It seems a bit silly to have an anti corruption index if the corrupt ones are making the index, right? There are some beautiful original buildings remaining in Finland - for that I give thanks. The filling to a lot of pastries have rice or a rice and rice and minced liver or beef filling. I find these a bit heavy but I like them. I wish they would have a bit more meat filling instead.

      Finland, Denmark and New Zealand have been ranked the least corrupted countries 2022. Everybody can google it. Of course all the countries are corrupted. Some countries more some less. Finland has been among the least corrupted countries for many years. Whether ppl like it or not.

    I totally disagree with the last part of the video, since when people from Middle East and Africans are treated preferentially? Almost everyone I met openly had hatred against them even when they are paying taxes and work in white collar jobs. You clearly have no idea what is going on.

      It's been studied that they get almost double the benefits, even when the number of people etc. stays the same. These are also the groups who claim racism in every situation, and demand service that no one else is receiving here.
