- Today's video covers the array of slides, drifts, spins and fails of the 2024 Flying Scotsman vintage car rally at Oulton Park's skid pan circuit!
In this video expect a non-stop and packed video of classic & vintage car rallying action, and some fantastic sounding vintage engines at this HERO-ERA historic rallying event.
Some of the most entertaining driving came courtesy of a BMW 328, Frazer Nash and much more, plus some real rarities such as a Rolls-Royce 'Woodie' and a Riley Sprite which had a huge moment after the driver's hat blew off!

Great video again harley,shows how good some of those old sports cars were for their time , nice to see them doing what they were made for ,obviously dated now compared with todays cars but definitely in a class of their own ,keep up the good work look forward to the next video cheers

I really enjoyed this, Harley, it appeared that the longer stroke, low revvers like the Rollers and Bentleys did not have the time to catch the drift in time for the next appex which was understandable as they were build firstly for elegant motoring, though the Bentley boys managed some drama in the 30s. Hope revision goes well. Good Luck! PS Could not tick LIKE as my old laptop has stopped me doing so. I am technophobic and unable to solve it. Lol!

Hi 👋 Harley. I think cars in red look so good. The Jaguar and Triumph at the beginning of your video look so neat. I dont know what pre war car number 11 is , but it looks like a canoe on wheels, with the extended back on it. Beautiul cars aren't they. They sound good too. Thanks from Carl in NZ.
Hi its me again . The white car on the back of the truck being lifted is a Holden ?. It had Tooheys beer advertised on it. I lived in Australia many years ago and Tooheys is an Australian brew. You mentioned it as being a Ford ?.
I'm not sure what brand it was it could have been either, I didn't see any badges but it certainly had a booming V8

The event is a historic road rally, run under the HERO-ERA rules, in association with Motorsport UK (Formerly the MSA). They have road sections, on open public roads, regularity sections which can either be on public roads or private land, and test sections, which are skill sections and usually run on private land (like at Oulton Park).
The event regulations do not require wearing helmets, competitors are required to wear 'period attire' (clothing up to 1947 style). Cars must be road legal, carry fire extinguisher(s), a first aid kit, warning triangle, tow rope, spill kit and a waterproof groundsheet.
No need for multi-point harnesses, roll cages, or helmets. They would look somewhat out of place in vintage cars anyway.
The event is basically a big jolly for rich folk with very expensive old cars. The entry fees for the 2024 event ranged from £5,250 to £7,040, depending on har far in advance the entry was submitted.
Yep I'd say that sums it up really well, it was nice to see vintage racing cars with drivers in appropriate attire and no ugly roll cages
Another thing is they arent wearing crashs helmets.
The regulations of the event do not require them to wear helmets.
@cogboy302 Thanks for that. I was thinking that some of the cars were going a little too fast. And a couple of them got out of control on the corners. I would hate to see one of them crash or worse still flip over.
