All your guides feel so unorganized... I can catch some of what are you saying but mostly because I play competitive too. You should make a list first of the topics you want to talk, so it would make easier to make a point. For example a little introduction, presentation of the topics, point 1-2-3, conclusion. I hope you can do this for the next guides or remake the past 3 guides. I love you my man, keep working hard on your channel❤️
I agree with this. Wolfe is an excessively talented player and has a ton of information in his noggin to pick at. But for newer players they might find his subject jumping a bit confusing. Especially since a lot of other content creators are feeding off the SwSh hype he’s also competing with them for subscribers. I think if he wants to see his channel continue to flourish to the levels we all want him to be at he might need to organize his presentations more
Also cutting unnecessary parts would also help improve his video content. Things like looking up stuff on Serebii or deciding what the next topic should be. It isn’t a public speech you doesn’t have to get everything right in one take you know?
this is literally what i have needed to understand the meta of pokemon. i played gen 1-4 and never really understood the greater mechanics going on under the hood. now jumping in with sw/sh i really want to know how to run the meta with breeding and IV/EV much better. thanks for these vids!!
In gen 7 the power items changed to give 8 EVs in the respective stat instead of 4. The 5 you're mentioning is the old 4 EVs + the 1 you get from the Pokemon you KO. That means with Pokerus and KOing a pokemon that gives 1 EV in the same stat you actually get 18 EVs now instead of 10. VERY important if you're doing a complex spread.
Your videos feel like I'm a class in college with those kind of chill teachers that know a lot. Sometimes I feel lost, but your way of explaining is natural and I love it
Don't worry about making long form videos. As long as you get the info out clearly, we'll sit through it. Especially on such a core competitive component that's changed.
For the very new people there are other videos explaining exactly what EVs and IVs are, this is good videl for EV training when you know the concept. I always learn something new watching you.
Yo man, haven't played pokemon since Silver and Gold version, Got a Switch the other day after watching one of your videos and really got hooked on all the mechanics of the game. Thanks for all the information. Congrats on all the subs man!
Wolfe you're my favorite vgc TH-camr and even if you don't reach 100,000 please consider still doing the academy, you still have a lot of fans that would appreciate it
Easy and fast way to EV train. Have them hold a Power item, like Power Bracer for attack EVs. Send the pokemon on a job for attack, near the bottom of the list. Then use date bug to skip forward a day (look up other vid for this). You will have 252 ev in a stat under 5 minutes
You can actually exploit pokejobs to ev train for free relatively quickly. Leave your pokemon for all day training in a given stat, go to a raid den, invite others, change the day on your switch calendar by one day, quit out of the raid lobby and your pokemon will be done with the job. All day pokejobs give you over 90 ev’s so you only need to do this three times for each stat to max it out.
Am I wrong, or can you get upt to 255 EV in a stat, but anything over 252 is useless because the stats increase is every 4 EZs? So if you were to use 26 vitamins you would miss out on the 4 EV in a random stat?
I'm trying to decide how to build my G-Meowth for farming. But honestly, even without it, I need and EV trained a Dragapult and Duraludon last night after work with no issues with the power items, the old fashioned way and it's already so much faster than it was so I'm excited about the money farm method, get a whole team together quick. The only struggle is hidden abilities being tied to dens and not being able to reset dens.
Joined the reddit. Subscribed. I remember watching you when Sun and Moon came out and boy it’s been a while. Keep pumping out content! Looking forward to in-depth mon guides too!
Have they changed the EV cap per stat? For those who don't know, EVs before capped at 255 per stat and 510 total. However, if your EVs are not perfectly divisible by 4, then those remainder EVs will go to waste. With 510, you can only spare 2 extra EVs (510 -252 -252 -4 =2) without wasting any, so if you took a stat to the previous max, 255 then 255-252=3. 3 EVs would go to waste, and you'd miss a single stat point. While this may seem negligible, a single stat can make a world of a difference. It could garuntee or better your roll odds to OHKO or survive an attack that could OHKO, it could take you from being slower to a speed tie or a speed tie to outspeeding. Anyway, rant aside, it's amazing that vitamins now carry you to 252 EVs, I just want to make sure that cap is for EVs period this generation, if that's just for vitamins, or if that's something that was missed.
You mentioned that you used Gigamax Meowth-sausage to farm money and I tried beating the league with it. I have an item to double the money earnt, don't know if it affects anything, but I get 19K per trainer + 98K after 3 money-making moves. It's amazing! Thanks a lot :)
“This is take 2.. It’s actually take 5, but”, lol! Thanks for the guides, Wolfe! Now that I actually finish the game, I can watch it all; *all of them*.
@@WolfeyVGC But on Serebii ( serebii.net/games/evs.shtml ) it says "Before Sun & Moon, the Power Items gave you +4 for each stat, but as of Sun & Moon they give +8." Unless it changed in SwSh?
I'm pretty sure it's still +8. I just tried a Power Belt on a lv. 100 pokemon and his defense stat increased by 2 per battle. (A lv 100 gains 1 stat point for every 4 EVs)
Power items give 8 additional EVs, not 5. I just successfully maxed out speed by giving my pokemon Power Anklets and EV farming near the wild area breeder. There are a bunch of Cutieflies, Zigzagoons, and Noibats, who all give 1 speed EV. (1 EV + 8 EV) * 28 knockouts = 252 max in one stat, which is reflected with a sparking animation around the stat when you press X on the stats menu in their summary
jobs are fantastic for busier people who can't exactly spend a lot of time grinding money or grinding battles, and it's a great way to do it passively while you're doing other training too
Say i use vitamins to max out 2 ivs (and +4 in another one right), if i do other methods of ev training like pokejobs or ko’ing mons, do they add on or do the vitamins max it out out of the get go?
I'm surprised he didn't mention the lady that completely wipes your EVs for armorite ore. And you don't need Pokerus for the poke jobs, it makes it faster but if you just have power item and send your pokemon for a day then it will max out that stat, with pokerus I think you only need to send them for half a day.

In my experience, the fastest way to EV train a single pokemon in SwSh is to use the Championship to farm money with the event Meowth and buy vitamins. It's much faster than doing ~50ish encounters with a Power Item. But worth noting that encounters might be more efficient if you can train several pokemon that need the same EVs all at once.
Just a quick little something. For Pokerus to spread you don't need to K.O a pokemon or even fight it. Go into the wild run into pokemon and then run from the battle. After 3 or 4 encounters it's highly probable that all of the pokemon in your party will have pokerus.

For changing a nature: would giving a mint to a pokemon right when i hatch it at level one be any different than giving a mint to a mon a leveled up already? basically for mints should you give it to the mon before leveling it up at all? also same question for evs, if i had a level 100 mon with 0 evs and then at level 100 gave it evs through proteins and such, would that be any different than giving max eves to a level 1?
For some elaboration, applying EV training and Nature Mints is no longer time sensitive the way EV training used to be in older generations. If you wait until Level 100 to fully EV train and apply the Mint in Gen 8, the game will automatically adjust the Pokémon accordingly. I don't recall when the change was made, but in Gen 4 and earlier entries, Level 99 was the absolute latest you could wait to EV train, as all of the Stat gains needed to be processed by leveling up.
Best way to ev train is do max raid and g max Meowth and buy health drinks and you can still get the power items but it’s not that good anymore unless you want that stat passed down until you get the nature you want and make sure you have a soothe bell if you trying to train a Pokémon that evolves with happiness
so what happens if you use a pokemon with POKERUS to infect your party, but then put the pokemon you originally used back inside of your PC? Does that pokemon preserve the POKERUS or is it still on that 24hrs time tick?
Are you certain power items give +5 EVs? Gen 7 they gave +8 and previous gens they existed they always gave +4. +5 seems like a weird number for them to be changed to for this gen, especially when it was +8 last gen.

once you beat a *particular trainer* (no spoilers) at the battle tower you are gifted with the ability to see your EV spread as well as how good a pokémon’s IV’s are.
Huh, never knew about the pokerus thing until I got a message from the poke center that I barely read while I was mashing A, but I saw the infected tag and was curious

What Gen 8 mon do you think is slept on? I personally think Eiscue
it's gonna be broken
I personally would rather have you go in depth than have a short video so don’t worry about it if you’re covering important stuff.
Now that’s a champion thumb nail for the video
Wolfe, I got a question:
Is it better to turn the Exp. Share off to EV train in the old fashion "Grinding for Pokes" way OR doesn't it matter that much?
Thanks in advance!
Chevan C'est Moi you can't turn it off in SwSh
Just use watts to buy luxury ball, and sell it, while earning watts you’ll get xp itens, TR’s berries etc... a lot of competitive stuff with just raiding
how can I see check the EVs though. I read/heard that there's this yellow area if you press X on the stat screen. but many of my pkmn have 2 yellow areas, one light yellow and one darker yellow. then there's my starter who has a light yellow and a light blue area...
once you beat a *particular trainer* (no spoilers) at the battle tower you are gifted with the ability to see your EV spread as well as how good a pokémon’s IV’s are.
Does pokerus+power items gives the same amounts of ev's as vitamins?
Huh, never knew about the pokerus thing until I got a message from the poke center that I barely read while I was mashing A, but I saw the infected tag and was curious
If you complete your EV training before level 50, does it matter if you level up to 100?
Quitting Dota 2 for a while and attempting to get serious about ranked Pokemon. Any tips? I know my 1st step is getting legitimate EV trained Pokemon
What’s a good nature for gyarados?
I had a question.
What if we use a follow me mon with red card and the GMax or DMax mon hits it, will it get switched out? Also, will the GMax or DMax end then?
Red Card and Roar don't work on Gmax/Dmax
@@WolfeyVGC Alright
Thanks!
@@WolfeyVGC Storm throw?
So this is relation to the following scenario:
In a doubles battle, one mon has prankster follow me with focus sash and the both the mons on that side attack and kill the follow me mon. While your other mon uses storm throw to switch them out?
How many EVs does a single Carbos, Iron, etc. give you? Since it maxes at 252 I assume it goes into it evenly
10 each!
@@WolfeyVGC Thanks!
Hope we can get that sub goal for the academy! Also great video man
Ok so I'm new to ev training and want to get started on sword and shield, my question is... if a pokemon is already level 100 can you ev train it because it woke gain exp because its maxed level, can someone explain?
Does power items changed to 5 EVs added? It used to be 8 in gen 7, right?
:O I hope not I definitely thought it was 5
@@WolfeyVGC it has never been 5 actually 😅 i checked, it was 4 from 4 to 6 and 8 from 7
Nice! Looking forward to the money farming video; really need that.
looking forward to making it!
