This video was released around a year ago on EckhartsLadder as a collab. I've published it here for two reasons. 1. So anyone who missed it can watch it. 2. To prepare you all for a upcoming video of the layout of the autumn and a suggested rework of her layout to remain within the confines of her hull and be more canonically accurate.
I'm an avionics technician and I listen to these videos often while I'm working in a plane and man it just releases my inner imagination. My favorite thing about Halo Lore is how descriptive the technology is.
20:44 Let’s hope those MAC guns are fed by LOW impedance conductors. At those power levels the crew would not need to worry about being cooked to death by sustained enemy plasma rounds if they where high impedance as nearly all the energy being transferred to the MAC guns would be internally dissipated as heat (internally, poor crew!) and nearly all the energy lost before you ever launched the round if the conductors were HIGH impedance (not to mention, the voltage requirements would be enormous since very few amps could be pushed through at a high impedance)! When it comes to linear magnetic accelerators you want as low an impedance as you can achieve so that you can discharge all the energy you have at each stage as rapidly as possible at the precise moment you need it.
The quality of your content and the quality of your production are unparalleled, I hope that people take note of this when they try to make subpar Halo videos in the future. You truly are one of the standards in the community, and Eckhart's Ladder deserves just as much respect as you.
I think I mentioned in the Halcyon class breakdown, but when you reference the forward mess and forward cryo, you say 'officers' of grade E7 and higher. E7, along with the other 'E' designated ranks, are all Enlisted ranks. E7, Chief Petty Officer, is a non-commissioned officer (E4 and above) and an enlisted sailor. Officer ranks are designated 'O', O1 (Ensign) thru O10 (Admiral). There IS an O11, though that rank is Fleet Admiral of the Navy, and a situational rank that is normally not present. Safety Note: Do NOT call a Chief 'Sir'.
@@tristanbackup2536 Amazing! I always knew we'd figure out time travel? So when did you get back from 2552? What's it like to fight against the covenant? I'd love to get more of your knowledge about the inner workings of the UNSC, as you are clearly much more qualified than the rest of us.

I can not imagine how so much details can be produced on a fictional ship that had only one requirement when it was 3D modeled... It had to look cool, Somewhat like the Sulaco in Aliens.
I love how you say it could be done by a human for slip space calculations and I’m just like Halsey she’s is one of the only ones who could do it. Great video.
Good vid. The bit at 34:00 about the reverse mounted thrusters would make Newton spin in his grave though. To stop an object in space requires the equal amount of energy it took to get it up to that speed. So to stop the POA after an hours full burn would require her to flip over 180degrees and perform a full burn for an hour. To stop her with these things it would probably take days of thrust. Much more likely those engines would be used to bleed off some speed when doing combat manoeuvrers or even to allow the ship to do a 180 turn very quickly.
Not necessarily, it depends on their ISP, the main engines of the Autumn could have a low ISP but burn very long and efficiently like an ion drive. As he says these are rockets, they would have a very large ISP and slow the ship quickly.
*In short:* The Pillar of Autumn is an upgraded Halcyon-Class Cruiser that holds a total of 6,000 UNSC troops and has much sturdier hull plating than the default Halcyon-Class Cruisers which hold a total of 4,000 - 5,000 UNSC troops on board. The Marathon-Class Cruisers hold a total of 2,000 - 3,000 UNSC troops. *In conclusion:* It's really cool to think that the UNSC has come this far developing ships such as Light Frigates which hold 100 - 150 UNSC troops, to the almighty UNSC Infinity which can hold just above 17,000 UNSC troops.
Man the scale issues for all UNSC ships bothers me too much. That cutscene where Pelicans are docking from space points that out so badly. A single damn Longsword looks like it would take up 25% of the ship at that scale. lol
Very good detailed video, and even down to science. Nice. I look forward to a similar video on humanity's most advanced ship and intended lifeboat for the species, the Infinity.
I know I already shared a weapon idea, but here's another. Low velocity Spartan Accelerators. Basically pack them in a disposable casing/housing/armature like a sabot or railgun projectile. Then you fire them at high (but survivable) speeds at ships or for atmospheric insertions.
The two most notable design features to me are the drivable highway down its centre that is so much longer than the Autumn that given the ship’s similarity to the Sulaco, must mean it was designed by James Cameron in collaboration with a Time Lord and the other feature would be Linda’s utterly ridiculous helmet. Both are striking features, indeed! (343 should be banned from designing helmets or judging by the amount of devices, crenellations, screws, bolts and grooves on their helmets and guns, their designers have WAY too much time on their hands!)
I still liked the video. The Halcyon class is on of my favorite science fiction spaceship. If I was given the option to choose a ship, I would have my ship be a Halcyon class like the Piller of Autumn, or an Autumn class.
I get that the Pillar of Autumn didn't have time to armor the bridge, but it feels asinine that a ship which would gain fame and notoriety for its ability to tank crazy damage would have an exposed weakspot like that in the original design.

I've beem wondering what is happening with the vid about the paranormal/extra-dimensional theories in our world would link to the domain in the Halo universe. 😂
This ship was a mystery when it comes to seeing it being slightly big on the outside but way bigger on the side due to all the driving towards a hanger bay, the ship must be very big almost the size of a city but it's impossible. Does size really matters or is like the Tardis from Doctor Who where you go inside a blue box and inside it's the size of the house. But from this clip 6:25 you can see the size of the pelicans and the warthog is smaller but based from the game itself there is an HUGE error when it comes to designing the final mission of the player fighting inside the ship and you understand it's interior is way bigger than the Exterior.

I just can't get over how hilarious it is that so much of our electricity was generated through steam power. Fossil fuels? Burn it to heat water, then drive a turbine with the steam. Nuclear power? Engineers: "steam turbine go brrrr." Fusion power? Steam turbine go brrrr. Some types of solar power? Steam turbine go brrrr. Like we split the atom, soon we might be able to fuse the atom, and all these engineers are like "cool, let's hook it up to a steam turbine!" I get there isn't really a viable alternative, but it's just mind boggling that we are still generating electricity the same way they did almost a century ago, just with different heat sources.
