    You did an excellent job. I do have a question, well two although I think I figured out one of them. How to tell which is the top cylinder other than the wire thing in case that has been routed to the wrong one or does that matter? Also, I can get the flywheel/magneto off but how did you get that plate off? I hope you will get this and be able to help me please.

      Do you mean the plate holding the coils?

    • @colelayden7857
      @colelayden7857 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      2 of the bolts holding the coils on and I think one kind of in the middle

    Do you have to reset gap on points after you remove the screw that connects the two coil wires to the point or just screw it back in and you don’t have to mess with the gap? Referring to part 13:47 in the video

    you are actually suppossed to twist or thread the wire up into coil or twist coil.youll notice it holds much better.this is how motor cycle especially older 2 strokes are made.caps are a heavy type polmer and you twist the cap of motorcycle up on or in wire.then it actually tightens

    How do you set the coil to flywheel gap after reinstalling the coils? I do not have the "ring" tool.

    Hi. ive turned my multimeter to 20k to check continuity. It shows me 10.55. is that wrong resistance? I've got these coils from Sierra for my 3HP Evinrude. Your reply would be greatly appreciated.

    Hey Brandon great video, my local Oreilly's sells a 7MM Tinned Copper spark plug wire by the foot, that should be fine for these ignition wires correct? Your input is appreciated. Thanks

    • @BrandonsGarage
      @BrandonsGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct,
      Tinned is probably better, as it wont corrode the same as copper.
      Tinned Copper is what you'll typically find on marine engine wiring.

      Great!! i just special ordered the parts they only have the wire in stock, thanks for getting back i appreciate it! and great informative videos!!

    • @BrandonsGarage
      @BrandonsGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know why they wouldn't stock the ends. Wire is kinda useless by itself.
      But, I guess my local place only has the ends, so go figure.

      Right!!, Hey Brandon i wanted to ask you a question, i'm waiting for a BRP Johnson Evinrude 18 HP Tune Up Kit, points & condenser, 2 BRP Coils and 2 Spark Plugs J6C, for my 1957 Evinrude 18hp my question is after installing these new items aside from gaping the points do i have to set the timing? or can i just mark the flywheel and magneto plate when removing flywheel and re install on the marks when putting back. Your input is appreciated. Thanks

    • @BrandonsGarage
      @BrandonsGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never did,
      Do you have a timing fixture? That helps a little to get the points set right.

    I really need help with getting the plate that holds the points, condenser and coils off. The wires run underneath it and I don't think I can do it without taking the plate off.

      Thank you, I don't remember where I found it but I have already taken it off. Thank you for your reply. I also found that the coils are both cracked. I have ordered replacements along with points and condensers.
