- We are at Mission Raceway just outside Vancouver BC to finally put my 1968 dodge dart down the 1/4 mile! Very excited to see how this small block mopar stroker motor performs at a full 1320. We almost didn’t make it to the track tho as we had some issues with our hauler!

What a great first pass...now comes the fun part of fine tuning to get to the 10's...living life a 1/4 mile at a time 👌...congratulations 👏!
LOW 11'S IN A NA CAR AND NO BREAK DOWNS..THATS A GOOD DAY BRO!
10'S WILL HAPPEN AGAIN.
Nothing wrong with a low 11 sec. car! Great job!
11 seconds is fast. Shit, 13 seconds is fast, and the difference between a 13 second car and an 11 second car is MASSIVE.
Only thing wrong with an 11 second car is expectations of being faster. That's when 11s suck lol
nice bud , 68 dart brings back alot of my high school memories.................
Hey, you got out and made a couple passes !! You had fun !!
Caught a glimpse of the "Catch 22" 1967 Camaro of Gary Rouse...I owned that car in Calgary for a few years...well known B.C. car that competed in Pomona way back in the day...Thanks for the vid. Love the Dart.
Awesome Joe《☆》Sorry I've been missing your uploads👍🏾👉🥤🍔Good to see You're hauling the Dart now & getting 1/4 mile runs. Good luck as your Family is growing too. Having a Baby is so rewarding🙏🏻It makes you a different person✌😎☮
It was great to see the baptism of the first 1/4 mile since all the upgrades Joey. Nice ET for a hot day. Car looks awesome 💯😎.
Congrats on the baby! Great video once again man!
Down here in the southern U.S. 82 degrees is a cool day. Your rear gear looks about right to me.
Short of the "Hop" off of the line- the car looked good on the 1/4 mile track. Thanks for sharing.
Looking good! I remember chasing my first 10 second pass, I had something like a half dozen 11.0's before getting into the 10's. I can tell you this from experience, it will sure make that first 10 second pass very memorable!!
I'm on the same boat been widdling down from mid 11's to 11.09 last pass of last season! Hoping to get that 10 this year!
Thanks 4 sharing friend,,,,good day,,good runs with that serious machine,,,,,,your mechanic is awesome, cheers,
Ryan saved the day!
Man what a day! Glad y’all made it safe and made some baseline for the year. Car looks great!
Thanks bro! Need some suspension tuning now!
@@SimpsonsSpeedShop it looked like it liked that lower launch rpm. I would jump it down to 3,000 and watch that 60’ jump up! Or your money back.
Just Mopar Joe sent me. Great work !! And that paint job… that’s hot. Is that what the kids say, that’s hot?
It was nice to meet you and talk to you in the staging lanes.
Great to meet you too!
Looking good, sounding great, nice. Now straighten out that steering wheel so my OCD doesn’t have fits
Lol it line the trans brake button up perfect only reason I haven’t moved it lol
It live up trans brake button is the only reason I haven’t moved it lol
I bug him about the steering wheel all the time 😂👍
LOVE THAT SMALL BLOCK MOPAR!! Keep up the great work!!
She is one of the nicest looking Darts anywhere, absolutely beautiful and sounds incredible.
Nice, last video i mentioned low 11s and high 10s with a good DA, prep (which looked pretty decent, check for some wheel spin) and getting her dialed in.
My Duster with almost same setup and specs launched at 3800, 14" collectors, 5:13 gear (1/8 mile)
Got me into the 5:50 - 5:70 depending on DA
What is the weight without driver?
Great test session 👍🏻. That hotrod will run in the high tens. I’m sure you’ll do it 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Good to see you out with the Dart, Joe.
Good runs.
Thanks for sharing.
Take care, Ed.
I watched some of the Sat races being streamed so yeah staying for the weekend would have been cool, so to speak.☀Nice to see you getting to make a couple of full 1/4 mile passes for sure.
Glad to see you back at the track! Greatl times and will only get better.
You're on your way into the ten second zone brother. Love this car.
Good Stuff Brother! Wish you had more time too! Hope You and the Family are Well!! 🙏☮️
Great job joe, you have way more in your 60ft with that set up easy 1.40s do you have double adjustable rear shocks should be able to get some of the hop out playing with compression and rebound, also have you reset caltracks after Dana install, tech guys at Calvert are really helpful and cool. Give them your scenarios with what cars doing in the 60.
Wow, if my Duster would have ever run in the 11's, I would have been over the moon! Awesome car!
The sweetest car on TH-cam! Great video man, thanks for sharing!
Your car is awesome, and you’re awesome for putting this together. Keep it coming!
Know you little down but you working with a good piece of material, keep at it buddy!
Congratulations brother!! Happy for ya
Full slicks?
Adjustable shocks on all 4 corners?
Air tires down to 6 7 psi
Tighten shocks up. Put rpm back to 3800. Should do 1.3x 60fts easy. 120mph is enough to go 10s. Leaving alot in the first 330 ft.
You'll get her tho. I been watching you for years. Glad to see the video if her out again sounds great.
Great to see the beast out again mate. Keeps them videos coming 💪🏻
Too bad you didn’t stay and race the weekend. Next time for sure!👍
What a great looking car. Beautiful color.
Cars looking awesome man!! We have about the same setup under our Super Bee now, only difference is we installed the sliders and got rid of the rear shackles. It seemed to help out a ton. We have videos on it if you want to check it out. We will be on the look out for the next video!!!
Nice car, good runs!! Thanks for sharing!!!😎
Let us know when you are out at mission again so we can come out and support you!!
Put radials on it or slow down the rear end separation. Hitting them slicks so hard it bounces like a basketball. Love your channel btw!
I would not be disappointed @ all with 1st passes like that!! Now its "lets have fun" time !! Test N Tune til you hit that Happy spot!!! Best of luck...I will be watching more now that Im subscribed again, not sure how but lost it... anyway @ the weight Im guessing the car is you did well ! Only to get quicker now....That 60 ft is all thats keeping you from sub 11 sec passes.
Yes you know it! I have a plan of attack for the 60 foot! She will run 10s!
Maybe the Johnson rod is bent……I don’t know anything about cars….just wanted to be part of the conversation…..I can say that car is absolutely beautiful tho!
Nice to see you got out there and tried some testing!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Love darts!!
Long expensive haul from Vic to mission ...the ferry costs are a killer
Fast and L👀king Good doing it! Shiny Cars to the front 🦶🏾
Beautiful mopar dam
Nice car, dude! I see high 10's for you by the end of the season!
SOUNDS GOOD, RUNS GOOD, 120 good big end, you’ll get it..
I would try launching on the footbrake and flash the converter, my hoosiers wouldn't 60ft with any less that 13 psi, also, I assume you run header collectors because they give you a massive boost in low end torque, try 18-24 inch. The heat will be slowing you down some, cooler temps, will give you 10.8-10-9 at 122-123 also jetting for conditions, and a supersucker might help. 580 hp, assuming 3250 race weight should be around 10.40 at 126-128 in reasonable conditions. My GTS, 3150# with 600 hp in good conditions, ran 10.14 at 130-132.
Good thing the brakes didn't fail trailering the car on the road!
Lots going on over at Mission, any more trips over there planned this year?🏁
Great car my man!
@@corbinrobbins8763 thanks bud. Lots more on the channel!
Something about the way it's leaving the line doesn't look quite right?dunno maybe I'm just seeing things?doesn't look to get enough weight transfer?
Love the video great content
Keep it coming
That’s really fast, looking good!
Awesome runs! I noticed on the in car view your 1-2 shift is quick and simultaneously with the shift light. The 2-3 shift it "seems" like the light is on longer before you shift and "sounds" like it's breaking up a bit or hitting the rev limiter? I can't see if it's you holding it or the shifter not reacting quick enough? Thoughts?
Ya me
What was that old Beach Boys song? She does a hundred n forty in the top-end floored?
Well you probably don’t want to here an old drag racer’s opinion. Your rear suspension is way to stiff and the tires look like there way to stiff as well. Causing a basket ball effect. Don’t know a lot about CalTracks. The car is still to high in the back. Need to loosen up the rear some how. I ran a super stock setup multi leaf and a pinion snubber. Later I went to ladder bar / adjustable coil overs with anti roll adjustment. The car is not transferring the weight to the rear tries. Brother practice those 60 foot times that win’s and loses races sometimes.
Love you supporting the Dodge Dart and your video’s.
Beautiful car!
You'll get there!
Hi, I would try a left foot on the brake start. The trans brakes are for bar suspension cars with NO spring wind up..Bring it up to 3000, and let her go. Also I think you are still sitting on the line when the light is green..But hey low 11's for a street car is COOL..There is a 10 in it..
Nice ride man, don’t chase numbers just try to WIN period .
You have a pretty good buddy...and car too,11.1's at 120 is awesome!
Car ran good wont take much to get it running in the upper 10's,hell probably if you could have run in 65 degree weather..too bad only 2 runs, who knows high 10's were a tail wind away.
Anyways nothing broke and car looks and runs awesome, you have to be happy about that, love your car&channel!
*Easy way to get your car faster convert the mph to km lol (I know I'm an idiot).
Lol 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Looking good. Maybe less gear, 3.73, 3.90 or 4.10s. It will load the converter harder and with a good converter it may increase the torque multiplication plus the third gear pull will likely be better.
I gotta disagree, I was thinking more gear! Trapped at 64 I would be fine with 67-8 would get out the hole better.
You’ll probably be at 6700 once you get it trapping 125 mph….
I’d keep your current gear and looking for the power.
@@SimpsonsSpeedShop it's difficult to predict exactly what will work best. My Duster had a pump gas 440 making about the same power as your 416. Race weight was 3500#. My best run was 11.125 @121.4 with a 1.55 60 ft. Trans was A-518 OD with a PTC 9.5 inch 3500 converter and 4.57 gears in a Strange nine axle and I was using the OD on 1/4 mile tracks. I also raced 1/8 mile tracks, so I changed to 5.29 gears expecting a big drop in 60 ft and et. I did manage a 1.51 60 but the et was virtually unchanged in the 1/8 and the best 1/4 et with the 5.29s was a 11.18 @ 118. Lots of variables but I saw quite a few cars similar to ours with about the same power with 3.73-4.10s but 8 inch 4500 or so converters that were running 10.70s- 10.80s @ 125 or so.
@@SimpsonsSpeedShop I forgot to mention their 60 fts were solidly in the 1.40s. What I was told was the taller gears load the converter more causing the converter to increase torque multiplication and that was what made the 60s and et better. I was hoping to get more center sections with different gears and an 8 inch converter and just keep trying different combos to find the sweet spot. Anyway, I sold the car so I never got to do it.
What is your engine trans angle in at compared to you pinion angle?
Good passes. Your car definitely can run a 10 second pass. The time is all in your chassis. I think if you tighten up your suspension with shock tuning and slow everything down you’ll have a 10 second pass no problem.
I agree!
I was stuck at 11.15 for a while. I had adjustable rear shocks but nothing in the front. Switched to coil overs in the front and went 10.93@123.6mph.
Front was 18c. 3r
Rear was 12c 3r
For the first time you were on a 1/4mi- it was pretty awesome, cuz ya didn't break anything> lol. All kidding aside, it was a test and tune for you, and if ya just had more runs... Anyway, that is one beautiful track, do you know how high above sea level it is, probably kinda low eh? BTW, your time are pretty damn respective for a 400+ small block with single quad. The fastest car I ever drove with was my buddies '70 Roadrunner with a 440- prepped out as far as your SB but we were running a tunnel ram and duals, AND we were still running an 8-3/4" REAR that never broke, and were running an 11.75 dial-in, but this was back in the late 1970's on what today you would call a no-Prep track and our slicks were tiny and hard compared to Your meats! .....But Man I miss that old Plymouth.
Get rid of that little rear axle hop @ weight transfer( little dog chirp 5 inches from rest) on launch and you WILL kick 11s to the curb! Great straight pass!
What’s up buddy quick question I love the way your car is set up with a small block. I have a small block in my 70 Plymouth Duster thinking about building a stroker. Wanna run the same time as you or close to 10 do you think I’ll be able to do it with 10 to one compression
All depends on everything else! Check out my dyno of this motor. It’s 11:1 so you’ll drop some hp at 10:1
Just curious, it says you're BC based, where is this drag strip? I recently became interested in muscle cars. All you see in mainland Van is Teslas :/
Mission bc just outside Vancouver
Hopefully I’ll catch back at Mission in the near future. Are coming back for Door Warz?
You know it's a great day when you can load the car under power, them aren't bad times for a heavy Mopar.
adjust your rear shocks to get the hop out
If it's four link adjust bars to move the center point forward a little bit.
Such a great car.
good video, love your car videos!
nice of your boss to let you use the truck and trailer, thanks boss!
Got to fix that launch.. Use double adjustable shocks.. I have 72 dart with the same set up with double adjustable shocks. mini tub ford 9 cal tracks 430, gear I've had best 1.58 60 ft at low 12s.. I am building the new motor almost identical to yours .. If your looking for about another 1 to 2 tenths go to a 904
Wondering what you have your high rev limiter set at? sounds like it breaking up around 6400? Love your vids bro. Low 11's and knocking on 10's do, awesome. Glad ya got to play at a quarter mile track. Keep it up!
@@451dskots88 it’s at 6700 I believe in this vid. I blew it on the shift and tagged the limiter lol
Awesome looking car where is the track your racing at now?
Mission bc
Joe have you tried leaving off the foot brake and letting the converter flash? It just seems a little lazy after the initial hit off the brake. With that current setup, I’d expect high 1.3x 60’s once it’s all working together.
I agree with you on the 125 mph as well for that combo….unless the DA was extremely bad…. Like +5000’ DA…
Keep at it, you’ll get it there. The car has all the right parts to go fast for sure.
1.30’s 60 foot are what cars running 9’s do, I think if he even got down into the 1.40’s he would be doing very well.
@@johnvegar9098 yeah I agree 100%. But 4.30 gears, 5000 stall and a transbrake in a light car is definitely 9 sec 60’ capable hardware. But yeah a 1.45-1.50 60’ is a lot more common for a 10.50 car. His 120 mph is good for 10.90s with a 1.4x 60’. I think his missing mph is what is really holding him back, but he’s just getting started with the combo so….he’ll figure it out.
We went 11.20@121 with a W headed 408” (530hp) in a stock appearing 68’ GTS with a 3500 Dynamic and 3.55s, through full exhaust and the car was 3600lbs with driver so I know Joe’s car is capable of a lot quicker… just gotta keep testing/changing things.
Nice.
Time for a prochager. D1X or P1X would be perfect. Converter is too tight now small blocks love lots of converter and gear SLR if your going to run it n/a. Your heads are maxed out and mission is generally at sea level so not much movement there unless the elevation was particularley bad at your trip to the track that day.
A 904 and a 5000+ converter would get you into the 10.90 zone but a huge expense and a very loose converter but you would lose all the streetability as it slowely turns into a drag car.
procharging it you can run 3.91s likely run the same converter and be able to make enough power to go into the 9s at respectable boost levels and keep the same level of drivability as it is now. 10 12 psi would be suffient the block should have no problem provided you have a good tune and generally speaking forced induction combinations seem to last much longer durability wise vs n/a at the same hp power levels.
You have the racing bug chasing that 10.99 and then 9.99 is alot of fun just providing some guidence to reach your goals sooner and cheaper unless you want to spend big money to do it N/A.
Good luck remindes me of our racing program and the tears/sweat/money it took to reach our performance goals 😂
Love the channel look forward for your next goal whatever it might be.
I would be proud. Car runs really good. 120 mph is fast.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
rewatched in slow motion on second pass i think slicks were really krinkled /crushed too much. maybe few pounds of air to add to them im sure traction is not a problem
Ya if I had more runs I would tighten that rear suspension to try to control the rear from crushing tire. Also turning it would help then I could add air to tire
Looks like you need to drop tires down to 8psi and put your launch RPM back up to 4500 and keep going up till it Spins. You have Lots of Dialing in to do with the Suspension too, but you'll get it, and Don't be afraid to ask other Racers opinions on set ups, all Tracks are a bit different!
Need to dial in suspension then I can can dial up. Got a plan! Stay tuned
Hey mate, love your work. It that 360 an LA or Magnum block?
LA. Check out the dyno vid for full build details!
I'm not a very emotional person. So it's kinda weird for me to be in love with your car 😉
Thats impressive, beautiful color BTW. You shifting around 6 grand??
Yea around there
Why did you change the carburetor it was Dyno with ? Maybe some jet changes ?? You kinda made it sound like you swapped carburetors on the fly... You know if you had a 904 trans you would already be in the 10s... ;) But you will break into the 10s even with the 727
You will keep chasing your tail until you correct your suspension issues. Also, Im gonna just throw it out there to put Hoosiers on the back.
Mission they charge big, but close real early.
1/4 mile tracks are the best
Nice Dart. Hours or driving to/from the strip for only two runs is one reason I lost interest in drag racing. Strips can get busy and especially slow with track clean up and such.
I've said it from the beginning, the cars suspension isn't correct. The rear is way too high, alot of that is what's creating that bounce in the launch.
Hey, that's not bad. I imagine the car weighs 3200+, that's respectable in the heat, what was the density altitude?
I imagine not favorable.
Sea level in May probably have a 10.85 et
Yea 3200+ don’t know the da on the day. When I get the 60 done she’ll dip 10
456 gear & you wouldn't ever take them out . I used them in the road runner . It will let that intake breath & recover faster.
HEAVY CARS TO THE LANES...HEAVY CARS TO THE LANES!
- Rick Farmer
I think that you need 4.56 o 4.62 gears... 29" is very tall tire For 4.30 gears... And move shift point to 6800-7000 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Ya still a street car tho. I cruise the hiway at like 3000 rpm which is plenty for me
Running a smaller rear tire at the track will be the same as dropping the rear gears to a lower ratio. Borrow some different sizes and try it. Otherwise, if your not going thru the traps at red line, you’ll need a bigger rear gear. I’m sure someone has a spread sheet that you can input your tranny gear ratio’s, and tire size, and rear ratio to figure that out. I have one that will do that I’ve used in the past for towing my fifth wheel trailers to determine best towing rpm and gear to achieve better fuel mileage as the 6.7 and 5.9 pull best at 2200 rpm’s.
If your going to run 1/4 mile will you think about changing out that 430 gear? Great to see the car out again for sure.
Still have room! Trapped at64
Up against the limiter chip in both 2nd and 3rd gears, that's not helping you either! Time for a proper suspension!
👍🏼
