I started out with a k60 (7/8") as my 3 to 4" pipe drain cleaner, and now I got a k750 with 3/4" cable 100ft long. damn k750 weighs over 150 lbs with the cable inside. you reminded me why I keep the k60 around haha cheers
Question, I was having backflow into my shower and tub (two separate items) and I ran some mainline cleaner through it. Those are running ok now, no backflow but I can't get my toilet to flush and I hear some gurgling in my tub and shower now. Any ideas? Don't have money for a plumber, unfortunately. I have 2 bathrooms, one on each end of the house, but the other toilet and sink/shower is working fine. It's only on my end.
Hey Tim, I have the same issue in my house were they had to clear it through the roof pipe because my house is on a concrete slab and it doesn't have a cleanout. I see your using a snake to clear the clog. I had mine cleared but they used that jetter spray to clear out the clog. Afterwards they used a sewer camera to inspect the line but the camera couldn't go all the way to the city sewage because they see that galvanize pipe was starting to build up residue. My question is, is your method of using a snake better than using a jetter spray to clear the residue in sewer pipe that looks like your arteries are starting to clog up ? They say that using a snake could damage the sewer pipe and cause leaks so the jet spray is much safer. BTW is it true that they charge more for clean out if they have to go up the roof instead of a clean out in the ground?
Yes you can have a clean out on a vertical pipe. Ours is in our laundry room, but is not at floor level...it is roughly 3 feet above the floor. Doesn't matter if it's attached to a vent pipe though. The clean out is used to clear your mainline without having to dismantle your toilet or whatever. But as mentioned, if no clean out is available, then you go the rooftop vent route.
First things first. Put on your snowmobile suit. Shovel a couple of feet of snow from the roof. Then clean the stoppage. That is what it is like up here....... I like the nice toilet paper myself, instead of the John Wayne Toilet Paper, That is Rough, it is Tough, and it won't take sh*t off of anybody.. Thank you for taking us along on your service call, Tim.
We get on the roof all he time in Alabama I don’t understand what the big deal is??specially with kitchen sink lines we run jetter AND sink machine from roof and if we can’t find a clean out for the main trunk the we will two man it through the main stack .. normal day at the office mr Tim good job gettin them running again
My boss had a rigid 1/2" and a 3/4" snake. He also had an old 1" rigid with the coils and links that we would have to disconnect with a nail lol. Carrying those coils and the machine up to the roof was a three man job. Plumbers are often underpaid and underappreciated.
you are a super smart plumber and I see exactly what your saying, love ya man!

Your vent pipe itself could be blocked.

Can you add a clean out to a vertical stack vent that is in the wall, so its east to clean out both directions? What kind of fitting would I use?
Pretty sure you can
Keep it within floor reach
Depending on what size pipe you can use clean out tee

Perfect! I always go to the roof for kitchen drain lines. No grease and mess in their kitchen afterwards
👍👍👍
I like your auger, what kind is it?
Is a 50' snake sufficient for roof vent?
Thank's for the lesson Tim and another job well done !
atb john
Great to see you John!Much appreciate your support!Have a great weekend and take care!
Tim, love dragging sewer machine and cables up on roof when your by yourself! Lol

Denton Hooper I’m so glad I’m not the only one that practices this method
Thank you my friend and #KEEPPLUMBING
So how do you get the machine up the ladder
lol carry it
@@PLUMBINGWITHTIMI have tied mine to a rope and hoist it up if I feel safe
What can I do with a bunch of acorns in the roof vent
Isn’t it easier to get on the roof than pulling a toilet?
Nice machine is that the rigid k60?
Yes the K60. Thanks
Thank you
I need a toilet like that that goes bowwoooooosh when I flush. Mine is too weak.
the roof vent is sometimes the only way ..
Experience what it was like to take a crap by lantern light in the 1890's.
You didn't remark if the snake looked clean when you pulled it out.
Had to cut the pipe to get all of them out
👍👍👍
Was that the only toilet?
I hated doing this when I did a little bit of plumbing 🤣

That’s a water closet not a toilet
1 minute of fix, 5 of you talking about nonsense...
I get on a roof in a heartbeat as long as roof is in good shape and I have a good ladder
