Very sad to find out that Richard devere died only aged 46 back in 2014. This whole documentary had me in tears in some parts, nothing really in particular, just the nostalgia and the magic of the PB, it has now been lost to blind capitalism. Mr Funshine isnt smiling down on it anymore.
Blackpool today looks better than it's ever looked, I hope one day they build an attraction as iconic as the big one and bring in people from all over the world like they did in the 90s.
Amanda might be quite assertive and over the top but that’s how she’s been running a successful award winning ice show for over 25 years and running a successful theme park for 20 years (which she had to take over from her father after he tragically passed away on her wedding day and had to pay off the vast amounts of debt the park had) . i think she’s a class act and deserves so much praise
@@danielledewitt1 its now going up to £50 just to walk round, its obvious non riders are not welcome. Its senseless and seems counter productive in the long run.
Central Pier with its own mini-fairground has been expanding in all directions, ever since BPB decided to charge for entry, and is now more popular than PBP.
Amanda may lack the avuncular charm of her father, but the Pleasure Beach in 2024 under her leadership is a lot safer (due to restricting access to ticket holders only) and cleaner (we went last month and the park looked immaculate) than it did in the 1998. Gone of the surly staff and now replaced with friendly and a customer focused team who couldn't not do enough for our family when we visited in May 2024.
@@danielledewitt1 we booked in advance and it was about £100 for 3 of us. For the quality of the day we thought it was good value, compared to other live experiences
I agree. I'm happy to pay regardless for a far safer cleaner park. Queues are minimal too so don't know what folk moan about. You get well worth your money. The park used to be mobbed, full of pick pockets. smokers puffing in your face and spend half the day queueing. It's a far better experience now. We were there in April and clocked up 20 rides for the gate price of £50. Bargain.
25 years later and it's still never a dull day in Blackpool 🤣

Sadly the days of the park been as busy as in this series have long passed. Or indeed of the park being open as late as this series shows

So basically Amanda has always been vile 🤷🏼♀️
No Comment lol
She is so rude and has a reputation for it.
This has got to be where Peter Kay got his entire act
32:28 Keith expression hearing that they’re probably gonna have to do it again it’s hilarious!😂

Pardon? You haven't noticed the outrageous prices then.

@@Astor-w3l We already know Amanda Thompson is an idiot.

I stopped going on the pleasure beach when they started charging just to walk on in 2009.

Costs a whole lot more to get into the park too.

@@pameladiamond9603 So you'd rather pay 200 and some £ to get in?
85,000 capacity for the park wow! I wonder what numbers they get these days? We need JR back and a cuppa tea that’ll sort it. 34:46
Wow - how times change - bullying staff and discrimination against less able people
The whole place is run on brews. Bomb scare? Brew... double axel?... brew.... assault?..brew.. proper community
Worked on plesh 99/01 seasons I met Amanda a few times vile horrible person
Imagine being denied the essence of Great Britain? And by a Headmaster ... 😂😂😂
Love JR
Anyone think that manager guy sounds like Fred Elliot from Corrie lol?
Great series, pity about the video’s aspect ratio… everyone looks too wide!
Change it to 4 by 3....simple isn't it? Ffs
You would not get me on the Big One no matter how many Esqudos, or pounds for that matter.
It's boring now, they've retracked it too much.
