Born in Blackpool 1960, left in 1980 and never went back except to visit family. I worked on the Golden Mile for a few years selling Rock on the stalls as a teenager and on the Pleasure Beach. This was fascinating, I didn't know half of it, thank you.

Ive lived in Blackpool all my life and when i was 10yrs old i used to walk with my Dad along the old disused train tracks from Blackpool south to Preston. So much to see fields everywhere. Now its the Dual Carriageway where everyone drives so fast you hardly get the chance to admire the landscape that once was. I still love little Marton where i live a place without the noise of nearby town.

Thanks for watching! I do love the Marton area around Blackpool, in fact I was round there only a few weeks ago looking at property for sale. It's a nice area!

Which shows how the deliberate running-down of public transport in favour of far less efficient personal cars has destroyed much of our local landscapes.

Thanks for this documentary Mark I thought it was one of (if not the best) doc I have seen about Blackpool. You didn't let the film lapse into sentimentality which so often happens when documentarians make films about the town, preferring to obsess about the golden days of full B&Bs and big stars appearing at the theatres, whilst forgetting that behind the Golden Mile are miles of derelict shops and boarded up hotels. Let's hope that the regeneration regenerates the town, the people who live and work there and not just the bank balances of the rich companies.

Thanks a lot! I do love Blackpool and wanted to show a bit of everything on this video, most certainly with the hope that these new projects benefit everybody in Blackpool. I think it's still early days but there is a lot going on, many old things being torn down (like Hartes), and lots of visions for a future that I hope takes shape for all who love, and live, in Blackpool!

I’ve been in Blackpool last June for 5 nights and a visit to Pleasure Beach (a 5min walk) and had a really good time there. Sure , the problems are visible when you quit the Promenade- even the seaside has a lot of vacancies and abandonment - but never the less you can have a good time in Blackpool !
    Greetings from🇨🇭

I used to love Blackpool many years ago, it was a magical place. Have fond memories of the tower, old trams, Golden mile amusement arcades, fish and chips, candy floss, slot machines, donkey rides, open air baths and enjoying old school Pleasure Beach rides and the Fun House in my stockingfeet. Not like it used to be.

It's sad when places change so much beyond our memories of them. I've known so many different faces and sides to Blackpool over the years, it's never quite the same.

Not returned since 2018 - When I had a very detailed walk around back then I knew Id not be coming back anytime soon.
The Town just looks so rundown and neglected now, all the piers are also a state, back streets are truly shocking now, even the Pleasure Beach looks really poor now, so many ride attractions either gone, or not working, the park looks very very sad with the gate numbers waaaay down, I doubt it will last another 5 years.
Such a shame but another pointer on how GB is going.
