Just a continuation of the previous video, "melon moves."
discovering some new set-ups and tricks. although I did bring some old set-ups from before, in this video for a reminder. 😅😅

Nice video. The melon is pretty underrated in SSBU. It was fun to use in Smash 4 though.

You can do the runoff melon throw up + shield for launch much easier by tilting down the shield btw :)
I still feel the melon is underwhelming in most cases. The slow travel speed is both a strength and a weakness. You explain the conditioning very well, but against very good players it just doesn't work that well because of its speed. I'll have to admit, it is very fun to use. I just feel like overshooting with galaxian is better than throwing a slow melon into run up mix.
Was going to mention the shield tilting. Good tip 👍
About melon being underwhelming, I think its just about adapting to the individual opponent. A lot of good players will shield and recatch everything (some even time dash attacks to grab the key). Every fruit has its purpose and your opponent can't possibly consider every set up at all times. Sometimes you have to get creative with melon but I think its worth it
@@willywakka7830 It could be, it's just a fruit that won't be used that often because it is much slower and the reward isn't great, for me at least.
I'd much rather win neutral and use a bell instead of melon (for a trap), since the reward is so much higher with bell.
And usually I don't have to approach since I am Pac-man. So holding onto your bell is okay most of the time. I can just whiff punish them with fair or some other normal and go for bell to cash out. I rarely use melon, but I can see it as a substitute for apple traps + hydrant, to change things up.
@@PopulotusBoogiedown I agree in most situations it makes more sense to go for apple or bell but melon has its utilities as an edge guarding/mix up tool
