Eddie and his wife were in the first vacation movie, they were really funny in it so they brought them back for this one. Even though Eddie annoys Clark, it really ended up being the reason he got the bonus, so sort of a blessing in disguise. Favorite Eddie line is “you serious, Clark?” After he mentions Santa on the news 😂😂

When the tree went up, it was because the dog drank all the water so it was super dry.

I assume the tree caught on fire because it dried out due to the dog drinking from the water reservoir.
Also, the actress that plays Aunt Bethany voiced Betty Boop.

I absolutely love that movie. I watched it when I was a teenager I already had crush on Jack Klugman from Quincy Adams. I recognized several other people, even as a kid. (good eye to see that) The grandfather who catches the tree on fire is like hilarious; but he's been really bad*ss in Mafia movies like Prizzi's Honor, as the patriarch of that family.
He's VERY good and then also very very funny in the series Wings. (which I recommend) Where where he plays an *extremely annoying person called Carlton I think. He's an acting genius. he can be hilarious as crap; or look at you like he's gonna kill you

@@CarolinaGirl6919 You might love the show Emergency (early 1970s). It's such a good show. It's basically about a fictional first EMT unit (kind of a trial unit) in California. In reality, the show itself inspired a wave of EMT units opening around the country. It really had an impact. The cast is great; the stories are really suspenseful and interesting, and there's a good amount of comedy in it, too. M*A*S*H was unique, an absolute legend of a show. St. Elsewhere and Hill Street Blues were great. I've never watched Marcus Welby, M.D. but I love Robert Young from when he did Father Knows Best, so I might check it out.

"The National Lampoon" was a parody of the student paper at Harvard University; it was a magazine for a long time ("Buy this magazine or we'll shoot this dog!" was a cover of theirs; Conan O'Brien was a writer for them for a while), with the first 'Vacation' film being based on a story that John Hughes wrote for the magazine titled "Vacation '58," told from Rusty's perspective (a son describing everything that happened to go wrong on a trip to disneyland). They also did a radio show, "The National Lampoon Radio Hour," segments of which are in a best-of album called "Gold Turkey." Chevy Chase was a player on that, as well as a lot of pre-SNL talent. Absolutely recommended if you ever come across a chance to listen to it.

28:25 no. I think we assume that their indoor Christmas tree went up because the dog drank all the water that's supposed to be feeding the tree to keep it from getting dried out from the heat in the air, from the system, the lights and everything. They dry out alarmingly fast without you even noticing it. supposed to always keep some water in that. When the man lit a cigar, the tree was dry as a tinder box, and went up immediately. Merry Christmas. ☺🙃

Clarks rant about his boss is one of the greatest angry rants ever put on film.
We can thank John Hughes RIP for three of the greatest Christmas movies ever in Home Alone 1 and 2, and Christmas Vacation. Also, he gave us what is arguably the greatest Thanksgiving movie in Planes, Trains and Automobiles.
Christmas Vacation is the rare occasion of a 3rd installment that is actually better than the original. There are so many great, classic moments. Like the Home Alone movies, Christmas Vacation is one of the best real-life Looney Tunes cartoons. Clark Griswald himself is like a real life Homer Simpson or Peter Griffin.

    1. When Clark delivers the present to his boss his boss, Brian-Doyle Murry ' (Bill's brother) calls him greaseball. 🤣 Then still doesn't get it right until the end.
    2. For even more chaos, all we need is Eddie.🥳
    3. My favorite part is when Ellen pulls the chain on the trap door. 🤣🤣
    4. Mae Questel played Aunt Bethany. She was the original Betty Boop and Olive Oyl, This was her last gig.😇
    5. In the big rant scene the other actors had Chevy's lines written on placards so he
wouldn't get his lines out of order.
    6. Living next door to them must be kind of like living next door to the Bundys.
    7. Fun fact; Chase actually hurt his hand karate chopping the reindeer.
    8. Clark's crazy, Ellen/Beverley D'Angelo is way hotter than the saleswoman.
    9. He's going to need that bonus to pay for the damaged house.
    10. This IS my Christmas movie every year
    11. Fun fact: This is the only Vacation where Audrey is older than Rusty.
    12. My picks in order: "Christmas Vacation", "Vacation", "European Vacation", and finally "Last Wages Vacation".

You are correct sir, that is in fact a very young Leonard (Johnny Galecki) from BBT. Good observation skills
National Lampoon was a popular anti-establishment comedy magazine during the 60-70's They made fun of (lampooned) just about anything, nothing was sacred.
In the 70's National Lampoon began to make movies. I believe the first one is "Animal House" Which is about college frat houses in the 60's It is VERY funny!! It is a bit dated, as it was made in the late 70's, but most of the humor is still very funny. Just like this movie, expect chaos. BTW, Abed references Animal House several times in Community 😁
As for the National Lampoon VACATION series, there are several movies.... European Vacation....Vegas Vacation.
But the first one is simply called National Lampoon's Vacation. It is where we first meet the Griswold family....and yes, that's where we first meet cousin Eddie. It would have been more fun if you had seen it first....why? Because all of us have about the same reaction as Clark. Cousin Eddie?? What are you doing here? Then he realizes, like us, that this is cousin Eddie. Damn!!Seeing Eddie is like getting shit on your shoe....Oh! No! Not this idiot again.
Anyhow, you will probably laugh even harder at the original movie. It's a MUST SEE.

But at least you got the holiday vacation in near the holiday. The 1st one is a summer road trip vacation, across the U.S. and that is a LONG and chaotic journey. 😜 BTW, don't be surprised by different actors playing his kids, they had to get different actors, as the 1st films actors had grown significantly older between films

There is a joke with the presents that were all exactly the same for the boss. But that joke was never explained or mentioned again. Two options come to mind... The boss was given guns by everyone because they all hate him and they want him to off himself, or it's an adult "toy" all the employees gave him so he could go screw himself. Why are so many users, mostly in the U.S., shocked rather than laughing at at least half of the numerous gags? 🤔
