Gojira makes sanding a lot more entertaining for sure.

Wood holds are just so dam nice to look at. Cannot wait to get some myself.

Thanks for that Tobias, I might go and make a similar pair tomorrow. I've drawn a lot of inspiration from your earlier video's and have made a lot of timber holds over the last year or so. I live in Aus and have an abundant supply of Redgum which is very dense and heavy, hard on the tools but I can make quite small crimps and pinches that have survived well on a 45d wall. A mate that climbs on my wall is a builder and has given me offcuts of quite large composite ply beams which are great for building large forms, really fun to make as you can add lots of features on the one hold. Please, no metal, I like my ears.

Thanks for your feedback, Michael! I personally haven't used Red Gum, only Blue Gum and Jarrah, but I would love to see your creations.
No metal in my videos is noted! :)

Can you make a video where you make climbing Holds with only handtools and a drill

Most of my hand tools are still in Germany (and I'm living in New Zealand)... But sounds like a great idea! What hand tools do you have available? Would probably going to use drill, hand saws, rasps and sand paper...

Man, your videos are so therapeutic to watch haha. Thanks for sharing all your experience.
Curious, what are the reasons you prefer to use the variable speed grinder with a sanding wheel versus something like an orbital sander?

      Thanks for your kind feedback!
An orbital sander is so much less aggressive. Just guessing, but I would say the material removal rate is maybe 5-10 times less compared to the sanding pad / angle grinder combination (the material removal rate is important because the surface is super rough after power carving). I also bought the Festool Rotex RO150 recently (rotary and eccentric movement), and it can't compete at all with the sanding pad on a powerful angle grinder. (But the RO150 is perfect for finishing and saves me a lot of hand-sanding)
But ideally you would use both, an angle grinder and an orbital sander (which is why I bought the RO150).

That was great, thanks for posting! That wood is beautiful, what kind was it? The way you used the rings to incorporate into the design of the hold was incredibly satisfying also.
I'm really curious about your CNC progress, and I'm looking forward to your next video about it!

      Thanks Pete!
I'm using Honey Locust here. Love the grain, too!
By the way, sorry for the waiting time for the CNC update video.

So I'm expecting Lorna Shore in the next video then?
I really enjoy the minimal style. Have you tried making holds from plywood sheets? Either by gluing the sheets together to make them thicker, or any other method. The solid wood is likely much better (at the very least prettier), but I'm curious.

      Thanks for your feedback, Tristan!
Now I have to check out Lorna Shore... :)
Yup, have made holds from stacked/glued plywood sheets and it works fine. Only pine plywood is affordable here in New Zealand which is quite soft that's why I don't do it often.
