To add, I’ve had 3 cockers in my life. Barney unfortunately died from multiple cancers last November. I miss him sooo much. He was my No. 1 best friend. Just love cockers. They are loyal and responsive. They can be superior. Barney always seemed to have ear issues, but all solved. Yes grooming is an issue and one has to learn to brush them daily. Love cockers.
We found a young English Cocker in a local rescue. I’ve had many dogs thru my 70 yrs, but this is overall the best dog I’ve had by far! She has a sweet disposition, but helping protect her “pack” is really important to her. Let anyone she doesn’t know approach our home and she always alerts us. She’s great with kids and never nips. She’s the smartest dog re: problem solving I’ve ever owned and never gets legs hung up on leash because she instantly lifts the appropriate leg(s) to release the leash. She always is willing to be social with dogs she doesn’t know and friendly unless being approached aggressively. She spent at least an hr or two on my 94y/o terminally ill Mother’s bed every day, even though Mom is no longer concious. Affectionate, smart, friendly, non demanding, and sweet tempered is really easy to love! You wont be sorry!
I have had lots of dogs and the easiest to train, hands down, is the English Cocker. Everyone LOVES our Saedee, we can take her anywhere. They are so sweet and happy.
Who else has a golden cocker spaniel? They're such a lovely breed, they're very loyal and intelligent. My cocker spaniel called buddy sat instantly when we wanted him to (this was for the first time ever). I would love another one.
I have brought a male golden cocker spaniel he is 9 weeks old now .. he is really smart he learnt so many things in just few days. He knows he has to sit and only then he will get his food and learnt the meaning of few words .. and all this in very few days, he loves everyone in my house and gets veey excited when he sees someone after a long time. He is very energetic and very playful he just wants to play all the time.. although he bites as he is very young and due to teething and also while playing but still i love him from all my heart he is the best
Anna 21 Buckmaster .My 7 month cocker spaniel is a thief food crazy and a super chewer can't leave anything around or she will steal it but I love her to bits 😂😂
i love my cocker so so so much!! he s my best pal...!!! he changed my life forever and i am so grateful of his love, he chose me amongst all my whole family!!! .. maybe its kinda mean to say but i love him more than my silbings and parents
Love my little english cocker spaniel. He is almost 3 months old and really loves my family and I. He loves playing fetch and cuddling and he is just the cutest ever. Can't wait to be able to take him on walks.
My Coker is a professional hunter, she hunts rats and mice a lot! normally the rats are too fast for her but sometimes she catches them and kills them. Once when my dog Pippi was a puppy she caught a rat but she ate some of the poison and the vet had to make her vomit. Also she HATES other dogs especially white fluffy dogs, sometimes she makes friends but very rarely. But even if she's rat hunter or if she doesn't like people and other dogs I still love her to bits. :) and she's 9 yrs old.
I also have an english cocker spaniel 4 months old puppy and she's incredibly beautiful and smart, i was able to teach her to give me her paw in just 5 minutes ,i wouldn't be able to live without her and she's the first puppy i have ever had in my life and she's so tame and loyal, i think this breed is underrated
The best bredd ever :) I got a little Cocker girl called Ninja that is a blue roan and She is just so lovely, I really want a golden colored Cocker too!
My English cocker named Chandler is handsome, happy, soft natured ,clever, easily trained and always wanting to be the best dog he can be ... the cockers in my opinion are a very underestimated dog in terms of intelligence .... a good breeder is a most definite must when looking for a good cocker spaniel..
The biggest fact is that there are TWO registered types of english cockers. There is the larger group - the working type. They are massively hyperactive and need extreme hours of exercise, and without such can become destructive and very yappy. Then there is the smaller number - the show type, which has lower set ears, tends to be slightly smaller, sometimes with a much heavier compact body, reminiscent of the rare Clumber spaniel. This type is low energy, needing between 1/2 to 1hour exercise a day, and if it has dogflap access to the door and plenty of toys, can go for a few days without needing a good walk. They are much gentler around kids, and much more happy go lucky and easier to blend into a small home and young family, and will curl up in a small place, often the size of a pillow or large cusion and snooze away as normal life goes on around them. The major health issues mentioned have largely been addressed by kennel club registered breeders. Grooming only needs to be a quick brush and is hardly a chore, but the best thing is to get them professionally done 2 or 3 times a year. As a long time cocker owner, and being physically disabled, i have found that the show type english cocker (though far more expensive for a decent pedigree one) is the better of the two for small homes, children, disabled or elderly owners, and young families who dont have the time to devote 8hrs a day in exercise, or cope with an indoor furry whirlwind 24/7. Both types are great dogs, but in these modern times the low maintenence, high reward of the show type matches modern family life better.
Got my first English Cocker 2 years ago and love this breed! Depending on the line you get your dog from, some of them have strong working temperaments....if you are looking for a laid back companion dog....this breed may not be a good fit for you!
I have a cocker spaniel but not sure on his exact breed although I believe he’s an American cocker spaniel. I haven’t seen another cocker spaniel like him where I live most of them are American cocker spaniel and have dark eyes.
