We lost our springer, Kelly, at 18 years. No better companion. She could look right into your soul. I used to hit a tennis ball off the deck with a tennis racket and she'd chase it and demand a new hit for hours. Long walks in the woods was a pleasure. Loved the kids. What a great friend.
Haha true to type! They are so gentle and would not hurt a fly! My Mother and step-father had same experience re their Springer and a burglary. My dear Springer Jack has just passed away and I would choose a Springer every time !
My family has a sweet English Springer Spaniel named Belle She’s very large for a springer, even compared to a male It’s crazy because her mother is so small, we were worried she’d be small like her. But she took more after her father in looks...
Mine was the first born and biggest of the litter, as well as loving his food but he was tiny. So funny when he was young he used to sprint everywhere, his body was all muscle he looked like a little liver and white pitbull in the body with a springer's head.
I lost mine in 2018, he had a seizure and never recovered. He was 10 years old but acted like a puppy all his life, I couldn't love anything any more. Sorry for your loss.
@@Erikso20008200 I lost mine in 2018. He was almost 13 years old, and yet it still felt like he passed away too soon. I had him for nearly 7 years. So, one downside to getting a middle-aged dog is that they don't have many years left, and that's why many people get a puppy whenever they get a new dog. Maybe I made a mistake getting him with him being middle-aged since I wouldn't have him for many years, but I'm still glad I got him and had him when I did, so all in all, I think it was still good that I got him.
These dogs are great for kids. My brother has a good boy named Kale, and my niece (his daughter) used to beat the shit out of him when she was a toddler. I'd catch her regularly punching him in the snout. Any other dog would've torn her stupid face off, but Kale just whined, pouted, and ate the punches like a total bitch. Now she is older and I taught her to be much nicer to the good ol' Kale. They like to sleep together, it's really quite adorable.
My dog was attacked by a group of 3 labs 3 miles away from home and he bolted I called everyone I knew and got them looking for him and he was outside my home right next to the boot of the car I owned were it not for such intelligence I would have wanted to smack him but all I could do was hug him especially after the look of relief I was given when I showed that was the 2nd time I was shown dogs are far smarter than we think. The other event that happened was with the same dog where I fainted in the kitchen I must have been unconcosious for at least 2 minutes I woke up covered in slober and marks from where my dog had hit me with his paws trying to wake me up his barking had also drawn the attention of one of the neighbours he was an English Springer spaniel. Before I personally owned a springer spaniel I got to experience the one my grandparents owned who had 1 in a million genetics he could jump over anything he could literally leap 10ft into the air and was stupid quick at sprinting without being trained. He once saw a group of greyhounds doing a practise race and decided to join in and wiped them out and would kill rabbits on every walk sadly he got cancer in 3 places at age 12 which was awful he was the kind of dog that was so happy and almost indestructible so it took forever to notice anything wrong. The tragic part truly was putting him down he was not ready he was still himself still stupidly athletic you wouldn't think he had 3 tumours its still the most tragic death I've witnessed he might have hit average life expectancy but it was just so wrong that dog was destined to live into his teens.
When talking about their hunting side I think you shouldn't have used pictures of the hunting/field type, not bench type which are more commonly used for show . Also I think if you looked a bit harder you could've found more attractive pictures of this breed, I have a hunting type and she is absolutely gorgeous.
I have had both, our show type was a beast of a gun dog though pulling brambles out his ears and chest fur was a nightmare lol and our field spaniel was a hyperactive lovable lunatic.
I agree completely. My baby girl is a hunting version and she is more beautiful than each and every one I saw in this video. Hands down my favorite breed of dog.
I don't know if I'd put the springer down as 'easy to train' 😂 they are very well known for their naughty streak, I have a half Brittany half Springer and she is now, after 4 years, good at lead walking and alright at recall, she is amazing at agility and doing tricks but she absolutely has a naughty streak and an understandable obsession with birds 😂 she is very barky at people moving around outside of our house however...
Mine likes cats, a little too much... I have begun training her to get along with the cats. It will take some time but my Springer just wants to play. The cats don't see it that way... Yet.
Generally this is a breed that is actually friendly with pets such as cats. Just lost my springer spaniel as he was really old, but from the moment we got him as a puppy he had a fascination with cats, even if some were not sure about him. We originally had two young cats when we got him (sadly passed away,) then later had another cat (hopefully as a stray found a different owner,) my sister had her cat, and the most recent was a tiny kitten we found and took in. He was social with all of them and never attempted to bite any of them, even with the recent kitten being a little too playful with him. If you're still not sure, I'd recommend starting with a puppy unless you know a springer that has a good history with cats waiting to be adopted. Keep in mind, this is a breed that you can teach an old dog new tricks so I'm sure social training might be easier than other breeds that are a little more difficult to train. They also have a good reputation with other dogs too in case you might want another dog in the future. Hope this helped your concerns.
Mystic echo420 It’s called Springer Rage Syndrome. It only happens in show line Springer Spaniels. A lot of the time it’s because they’re from bad breeders and/or the owner is terrible. The owner may let the dog do whatever it wants and doesn’t train him/her at all. So yeah, it’s true, but only in some. If you don’t plan to show your dog, get a working one. And always get a dog from a good breeder. And be a very firm and dominant leader and owner to your dog. Then they will never get Springer Rage Syndrome.
@@goodbowls3676 then you ideally need a 'field bred' springer, this vid was bench bred springers. fieldies are more high energy, need exercise, and are smaller and white mostly. they need lots of training to not pull on leash. very sweet n cute.
Hm if England our springers look nothing like that. They’re working, show springers really are ugly compared to working, you should’ve showed some working.
I love my little bean. She’s 4 years old, doesn’t bark, isn’t overwhelming hyper, is always happy, and she’s my best friend. I love you Sadie❤️
I have a Sadie, as well! She is the best dog I’ve ever had.
My Springer doesn't do too much hunting besides his toys! Amazing breed, very affectionate. I would recommend them to anyone!
My Corky was an excellent watch dog. He lived to be 17. RIP Corky,i still love you and miss you.

The best dog breed ever!!!
Such beautiful dogs
The description. is of a show spaniel. Working spaniels are more robust. No lower eyelid hanging down. Lovely dogs!
We have a Springer and we did have a break in robbery. Our Springer went and hid. We do love our Springer.

My springer was so naughty, he was a master at stealing food while no one was looking.
Mine has an obsession with birds too! Lol. She cleared 8 steps to chase a Robin. Naughty she can be but training has been very successful.
