I grew up with a Vizsla. Amazing dog, spoiled me for any other breed. Smart, smart, smart, had NO problem training her, show it to her once and she had it. Lovable, and we used to joke that we hadn't realized we had gotten a 50lb lap dog. When camping where it was a little chilly, and because of her short coat, she would get a sweater or jacket from the car and come to you to put it on.
The part I don't agree with is them being around small children. My Vizsla, Max, who recently passed away due to old age, was was around 1 year 2 months older than I was. And he protected me throughout life until he passed. He was 15, about 20 days away from his 16th birthday.
This breed is superior! Vizslas are the best dogs. They're intelligent, affectionate, athletic, capable of being nice to cats, and they look cool. Meets all my qualifications for a great breed.
You are totally right. I have a vizsla. His name is Kal, 3.5 years old and I don't regret the moment he came into our lives. He brought so much with him into our home that we don’t remember the time before him. His dogs love is priceless. The most beautiful dog character ever. Viszla rocks! 🤘🥴
Best dog ever, I have a 1 year old son and I've never seen a dog more aware of small children than Hank (my dog).... I live in Charleston, SC and I've only seen 3 other Vizslas since I moved here, and I like it that way. When people see him they act like they've seen some rare animal from the Amazon. Awesome dog... just be prepared to walk, run, jump, swim, play, throw tennis balls, train, hunt, and on and on and on, because they need to roam.
I have owned a visula (mispelled) he was velcro. I took him fishing with me and he demanded to sit in my lap while i was sitting in a fishing chair. boaters that drove by almost fell out of their boats laughing. I truely loved that dog and am looking for another. Cheers Jeff
I know someone who has a vizsla and they had to change all the handles on the doors to going up instead of down, because the dog was so smart that he opened the door when there were people at the door. They only changed the important doors like the ones on the front door but she's still able to sneak into any room when she wants too. Think twice before getting a vizsla because they have a really strong mind!
+Matthews channel breaux I feel what your feeling right now man. I just got the news my vizsla might have cancer, R.I.P Rusty. My heart goes out to you.
One of our trainers at 4Paws4Patriots has a Vizsla as his service dog, she does such a wonderful job assisting her handler and does a fantastic job spreading service dog awareness!
i have a vizsla and love him, I agree with everything they said besides the small child part. we have a 2 year old girl and sher lays on him, pulls his ears and tail, and even lays down in front of him to get a kiss and my dog will just sit there like nothing is happening. also he will protect her and any body that looks like they need it. over all they will be incredibly good with small children and people
As is mine. Very loving and affectionate to my 3 year old. She lays on Karma (dog), does everything described above and all my Karma does is lay there and occasionally give my 3 year old kisses. Karma is 3 years old as well. I have 4 kids total in the house. Never a problem.
They are really funny dogs to have around, il be in the kitchen doing the dishes and his head will be hung over the back of the sofa constantly watching me. They are really loving and affectionate as well, but they definitely need owners that can exercise them a lot and put a lot of time and effort into training.
WOW!!!!..What a great video!!!!...We have had 4 so far. We have 2 still with us. They are the greatest dogs in the world. After seeing your video, I want to go and get 10 more right now!!!!!
i've grown up with viZslas and they are great around small kids! They also do not need two hours exercise unless they are a pup! They do need some though but two hours a day is extreme and also unrealistic. They are calm and happy to sleep all day too! Would tell anyone that this is the perfect dog!
This is probably the best dog there is. I have one and im 12 with 9 year old twin brothers. He does fine with kids. If you're looking for a dog, trust me, the vizsla is the dog for you. But one thing the video got right is they need lots of exercise!
I've never experienced a dog that was as easily trainable as my Vizlsa - nor as intelligent. He is incredibly observant and seems to anticipate my every move. You will form a very strong, close bond with your Vizlsa.
This is the very show that got us hooked on V's. We just got our second one a few weeks ago and they are great buddies now. Got a bunch of videos of them if anybody would like to see our "kids."
humble contribution they present those dogs, as a family dog... these dogs are hard working gundogs and were still breeded and are still used for hunting... here in germany libelous breeders only give this dogs to active hunters. if you´re no hunter, don´t buy one...
They are not the product of the Weimaraner and GSP. That is inaccurate. Rather, these dogs originated in the "dark ages" and were used in the development of the Weim and German Short Hair Pointer.
Definitely saw a resemblance between them and Weimaraners even as a kid. Thanks for clarifying about the inaccuracy. I had neighbors and friends that kept these breeds, and both are extremely pretty.
not only that they are odor less...they even smell very good. At least mine do. They do have a licking problem haha. I could never have another dog than a vizsla.
My boy Oscar (a King Charles Cavalier) does the same... it's the cutest thing ever :)) If we move to the country one day I ill definitely get a Vizla too, they are such fine and beautifully natured dogs :)
My first dog just passed away he was a Vizsla 10 years old ... no sign of anything happy as can be then one day he didn't wake up :( Poor little bugger.... It will take awhile until I get another one but I don't think i could get any other breed out there!!
Had a vizsla as a kid, his name was Jackson, or "Jax". Best dog ever so loving and kind but still badass. If he was asleep on the bed and u tried moving him he would let out a deep low scary growl with his eyes still closed we thought it was so funny even tho it was scary sounding, and then we would push him off and he would fake bite you and then lick u lol
OK, this is the idea of an American about a dog, which she never ever seen... :) As a Hungarian, let me clarify some parts: 1. Vizslas are not the best in cities, but they can do it. They love to run, but they love their owner much more. It is more important to them to have a good family than to have running. Although they need to walk/run each day, but 2 hours running per day is a nonsense. Our vizsla do fetching about 0.5 hour per day and that's all. I also know many vizslas living in a flat and they're ok. On the other hand, if you have a yard, don't keep the dog outside, because it needs humans so much and because it cannot tolerate cold well. (Still, it doesn't need coat, when goes out. :) ) You also must be a lot at home, otherwise the dog will be very unhappy. 2. Vizslas can look "royal" if they want, but usually they are just moving like snakes between your legs... And when they want to lick you, even the tongue is moving similarly. :) They are nice and flexible dogs. Probably the original, big variant (which you can almost never find outside of Hungary, and it's rare here too) is a bit more elegant. 3. Training a vizsla is very simple even for a beginner. You show what you want, and the dog does it. They are typically intelligent and desperately want to do anything for you. You don't need to be patient, it will be very fast. 4. Vizslas are not always gentle, so they may push a kid, but never harm intentionally. 25kg of muscle running at 50-60km/h can hit a small child, so you still need to supervise them, but I think it has a much-much higher chance that the kid hurts the dog than the dog the kid. 5. There is one thing they are bad at: defending your home. Although they will bark, but don't expect that a small, 20-30kg dog with extreme love for ALL human will stop anyone. :)
vizslas are so cute we are trying to convenience our parents if we can get one my dad is most likely going to get one and that will be this summer yeah also I have watched this video hundreds of times and I love it
In my experience, a vizsla was extremely easy to train... She was house and crate trained after 2 weeks in our care and easily picked up on basic commands such as down, stay, come, etc. (not including sit, because show dogs aren't supposed to be taught to sit)
My friend has a Vizsla, or at least that is what the shelter he got him from said. He looks and acts like one, but he has quite a doggy odor. Zeke (the dog) gets a bath every 2 weeks, but it doesnt seem to be of much help. Also, his coat, though short and a beautiful red, sheds A LOT. Other than those things, he is a total mush. You could never love on Zeke enough! He is a true "velcro Vizsla"!! :-)
Not great with children? My mom got our Vizsla less than a year before I was born. I grew up an only child except for my sister, my dog. She was never hyper in the house. She let me lie on her and dress her up in tutus and god knows what. She danced to music with us. She was stern with me if I pulled her tail or teased taking her food away. You can trust me when I say this because I own a puppy and I know the struggle. This is my first vizsla so I could be wrong and it’s just my puppy but she loves to bite you and it hurts. Don’t expect to do anything either. You can’t relax because they chew on things so you can’t sit still because they constantly chew on the couch. You can’t put them in their cage during the day either because they cry very loudly. You can only relax when they’re sleeping which they will sleep for a bit after some exercise. They’re the best once they get out of the puppy stage. (I hope). Other than that great breed
I'm thinking of getting one, but I don't know about the training thing, how you need someone who knows what they're doing. Have you any of you guys trained your dogs by yourself? If so, was it easy?
I grew up with a Vizsla. Amazing dog, spoiled me for any other breed. Smart, smart, smart, had NO problem training her, show it to her once and she had it. Sounds like the perfect companion. Are they protective of their master ?
The part I don't agree with is them being around small children. My Vizsla, Max, who recently passed away due to old age, was was around 1 year 2 months older than I was. And he protected me throughout life until he passed. He was 15, about 20 days away from his 16th birthday.

@@jurjanna indeed!!
@@aoibhinmcnamara4859 aww cute
I had a vizsla growing up. His name was Ritchy's Rip-roaring Rebel, because he could run in the yard until the grass was gone! Beautiful dogs!
Best dog ever, I have a 1 year old son and I've never seen a dog more aware of small children than Hank (my dog).... I have a Vizsla. Perfect dog! Best pet ever for me. Clean, smart and very affectionate!

Such handsome goobers. An absolute riot to play with.
i love how the crawling toddler has learned to point
Aren’t they just 🥰🧡

They're very affectionate and emotional. If they're sad, they can actually cry.
i have had 2 vizsla's in my 13 year long life only 1 of my vizsla's is still with me but they truly are the best dogs in the whole entire world
I had a vizsla until I was five and he is in almost every baby/toddler picture of me at home. They really are velcro dogs.
Thumbs up if you believe that once you own a Vizsla, you cant love any other breed the same way!
~VIZSLA FOREVER~

So if I don't have sleds to pull, don't get a Husky? Or if I don't have livestock that needs herding, don't get a German Shepherd?

From what I've read they come from the Rhodesian Ridgeback and Red Bone Hound but I could be wrong.
Very nice description of Vizslas. They are truly great dogs.

but hungarian were very very earlier than german vizsla
I took that dogs 101 dog breed test thing, and it said that this was the best dog for me :), they're so pretty!!!!!!!!! :D

had a vizsla. she was kind of snotty and prissy, sat on our laps and was just overall wonderful. described perfectly here!
They are the best dog ever and other than exersize the are great dogs
Very informative & spot on! :-)
I like the video, especially the appearance of my friend Cynthia and her Vizsla Tanner!
vizslas are so cute we are trying to convenience our parents if we can get one my dad is most likely going to get one and that will be this summer yeah also I have watched this video hundreds of times and I love it
My Vizsla is currently on my lap lol
fell in love with this breed after i was exposed to a few of them working at a dog day care. they absolutely melt my heart
Love this dog breed! Probably too much work for us. They are Australian royalty.
Industrial Strength Velcro Dog!
These seem amazingly close to Rhodesian Ridgebacks.
I want a Vizsla
Thanairy Guerra I have one it’s name is Charlie
I absolutely love my vizslas!
In other words, a perfect dog. :3
So happy my first dog is a Vizsla. Mad as a box of frogs though. XD
I just rescued an emaciated Vizsla this monday. I get to keep her if she isn't claimed by next monday. Beautiful baby.
Wait, so HOW is this not the perfect dog?
Cant wait to pick my little beaut up in 5 weeks! :D sooo excited haha
Very handsome dog
In my experience, a vizsla was extremely easy to train... She was house and crate trained after 2 weeks in our care and easily picked up on basic commands such as down, stay, come, etc. (not including sit, because show dogs aren't supposed to be taught to sit)

Most underrated dog everywhere, but Hungary!
True, I will never understand how there is a greater demand for french bulldogs than Vizslas.
best dogs ever, at least the funniest !
Which honestly was fair enough. She never nipped or snapped.
She was a bit neurotic though. The grooming thing was true and she would lick the pads of her paws until they bled :( we had to put socks on her.
Our dear Roka...
Vizlas are the best dog.
I have a lab vizsla mix. I love him
I have a feeling if I keep watching this show I'm gonna own like 47 dogs!
i had a visla she was a great dog she loved barking and chasing stuff she hated other dogs apart from the guys down the road who also had a visla !
I'm getting one in august! So excited!:D
I would love to have a dog like that
LOL, I have 2 Vizslas and if I had 4 more hands to pet them and more laps...I'd own more.
aww man. reminds me of my old dog.
My vizsla bites a lot...... Yeaaaa🐾🐾
Sophia And Aeli same
You can trust me when I say this because I own a puppy and I know the struggle. Kennel train them at an early age like any other dog... They do fine
Thats not a Vizsla, thats all puppies.
Kennel train.
I'm thinking of getting one, but I don't know about the training thing, how you need someone who knows what they're doing. Have you any of you guys trained your dogs by yourself? If so, was it easy?
