would be nice to do this in Mumbai central railway although trains don't go this fast when the tracks are flooded deep . sometimes high enough to fully submerge the bogie . atleast our tracks are well maintained.
RDSO is very particular about axle loading and oscillation trials lol. In other countries, they would be running 160kmph trains on the kind of track we use in loop lines.
is this Railway even safe? I mean the part where of the rails were almost completely fully level with the water doesn’t make it look very safe because I don’t see any ballasts underneath the track so it must not be safe, right?

Nice railroad wheels! They look similar to bicycle wheels or wheels from a horse chariot!
_Honestly guys, we all miss the time when train journeys, plane journeys or be it any journey used to be fun without public risk & social distancing restrictions_ *Then came Covid* 🦇🤒😷
If the water obscures the drivers view of the track in the UK, no trains would be allowed to use the track until the track was visible again... it may be safety but it causes HUGE delays.
Back in I think 2008 the uk had a majorly wet summer. I was on a class 185 and we came to a stop as the water was abive the railhead. Then it was reaching the engines as evidenced by the steam coming up. Then it reached the step up to the carriage. And it stayed there. After many hours we got out on fire brigade dinghys. The 185 didn't fare as well as we did!
If the driver had proceeded about 2k when the water was only slightly above the rail head (not yet dangerous) then the repair bill and rescuers time could have been avoided. Just 2k to the next station...
No. Trains are far, far too heavy to float. You might lose traction to where it has a hard time climbing up a slope or either stopping or slowing down, but it won't come off the rails.

It's astonishing how much weight there is in a train. I wonder if we take out all the metal and things and hook the engine with some rubber tyres, it might go faster than an f1.
it may just be the fish lens but it seems horrifying to see the tracks flex so much into the ground, especially when the bogey is that close to the ground as well.

I never really thought trains had to deal with water, like with the shape of the rails and the rocks. Weird.
Always depends how good the Drainage is maintained

if the railroad does track maintenance it really isnt a thing.
Never seen such thing in Spain, all railways are off the ground with rocks underneath so the water seeps through.
Those tracks looks like they're sunken in the ground.

looking at the blackness near the rails, i assume this is the line from Dupnica to Bobov Dol?

Might sound dumb but, given they only sit on the rails and nothing else, could a train in theory hydroplane like a car?
No. Trains are far, far too heavy to float. You might lose traction to where it has a hard time climbing up a slope or either stopping or slowing down, but it won't come off the rails.

Is hydroplaning a risk at all or is the pressure of the train simply too high to create a risk?

either flooding due to rains has struck or the cushion hasn't been deep screened for years.
Also cross slope seems to be ineffective here.
Thanks, I was going to ask what was wrong with the tracks.
it may just be the fish lens but it seems horrifying to see the tracks flex so much into the ground, especially when the bogey is that close to the ground as well.
Tracks flexing downward actually accounts for some extra drag of the tonnage being pulled.
