Wow. This tutorial blew me away. The script was developed so logically, and the production values were so high! Thank you, thank you, thank you for making this. Insta-sub!
@@GamesAcrossTheBoard to double down, just finished using this video to explain the game and the direct quote from one of the players was 'This is the best rules video I've seen' - he was particularly complementary of your use of computer imagery to show how things work in practice rather than showing the tokens on camera. Overall, great experience and you set up a successful game night for us!
Great video! The rules were explained well and the overall quality of the video and the animations was really nice. Definitely gonna follow you for future game rule explanations :)
@@GamesAcrossTheBoard We messed up 1 thing, we had each player have turn per day, so made the game last too long. I think when we play it next it will be the blast we can see this game being! We all had great fun even with the wrong rule. Again thank you for this video! :)
In v4 of the English rules, they say pirates cannot even discuss compass or district hints, only token like treasure or truth. The designer confirmed this is accurate on BGG
Hi SpaceGravy, thanks for your comment! The V4 English rules actually say two things. On page 5: "they cannot show or tell their District Hint to any other pirate." and on page 10: "It is forbidden to show a District Hint, Compass Hint or Information token to other players, it is nevertheless possible to discuss, and of course, to lie." I talked with designer Marc Paquien and he confirmed that players cannot directly tell what their district hints are, but they can talk about them. And of course, lie about what they know or don't know. Marc clarified this in his last post on BGG: "Pirates keep their hint secret: they cannot show or tell their District Hint to any other pirate." In this sentence "Tell" may be confusing as they can pretend whatever they want. here's the link: boardgamegeek.com/thread/2142677/about-secrecy-chest-tokens?fbclid=IwAR2ty0mNuBeiYi6vO37goeiMHqPgUPZzOTH_e2JomWzItJLtb0fkNjhO6-4 I hope this helps!
Haha, no I'm not. But Marc Paquien is the nicest guy. He was always available for me to answer all the questions I had during the production of this video.
Thanks! I make everything myself (filming, editing, animation...) and I use copyright free background music. I usually scan all the cards and the tiles. But for this video, Matagot was kind enough to provide me with high resolution files for all the components which enhanced the overall quality.
I had definitely been playing this wrong and giving each pirate a turn each day. Whoops! I was wondering how they could possibly fail to find the treasure long enough for Long John to escape, but that makes a lot more sense now, while also allowing a faster distribution of hints and less blind searching.
This is so helpful, thank you! The only thing I’m still not 100% sure about, is the bluff tokens. Does Long John, put one down ever turn, and he chooses when to play a truth or lie? In which case, what is happening when someone lands on a bluff token on the calendar? Thank you!
I have never seen a game tutorial this good and I've seen a lot. Great work and thanks!
This is one of the highest quality tutorials I've ever seen. Both production and quality of rules explanation. Thank you!
Thank you so much!

Super helpful, way better than one of our group having to read the manual to everyone, and such a high quality production. Hope to see more!
Hopefully, I'll make more video in the near future. There are some older ones you can check on the channel.
Really excellent rules explanation! Thanks!
Thanks a lot! I had fun making this one.
You are a great teacher. This was better than any Watch it Played video. Subscribed. Thank you.
Thanks!
This is amazing!! Imagine a world where every game has this 😍
This is amazingly well put together. Thank you!
Super helpful! This takes a lot of stress off playing the game for the first time.
Thanks!
This explanation is better than the manual
Thanks!! That means a lot.

We also had zero rules issues or manual lookups during two back to play throughts, which I think speaks well to your explanation.
@@cthulhudreamsable That's great! Glad the video helped your group.
Fantastic video! Extremely clear rules explanation and top notch editing!

A very helpful video, thanks for posting.
My pleasure. I had fun making it
Great video :) just recently got this and figured I would watch something prior to opening the game and playing this Saturday :)
I hope it gave you a clear overview of the rules.
Nice quality !
Really good explanation. I thought you were the game designer. Subscribed for future contents!

Very helpful, thanks
6:10 in a 2-player game, does the pirates player get 3 district hints (as many as the miniatures)?
Great work, thanks a lot!
You're welcome!
Where did you find all the awesome infographics for this game? or did you make them yourself? Awesome rules overview!

Really good explanantion. The animation is so beautiful. Did you do the drawings yourself? How was this made?
Thanks! I became friend with the author and he helped me get direct access to all the assets from the publisher.
Great explanation Thankyou
Thank you....helpful
Long John Silver is not a pirate???? My word.
Excellent job... you keep this up and you'll take rodney smith's place
Rodney's the king. No one will ever take is throne!
This was excellent! Thank you.
