What a gem ! It must be worth a little fortune today ! This one certainly is a rare version.

Hello again ! The qurstion of the production date remains open. I've just checked with the Koll's Preis Katalog (1999 issue). It says that the CCS 800 inscription on the side of the cab was painted in gold until the end of 1953, then became silver in 1954 (version .6). A detail that can distinguish a 1951 version from earlier ones is that the front lights replacement can be made from the exterior of the front bonnets, and does not require opening them. So, good luck for further investigations and best regards. My own ones are the versions .9 (1957) , .11 (1965, # 3015) and the brown one reissued as a special issue

I remember it cost 300.- DM in the fifties, when the cheapest loco just cost 10.- DM.

I have one but the box is long gone. Mine has the factory green original finish, but a decade ago I repainted the roof.

Very nice loco in very good shape. Definitely 1951 (before: grey thick carton box; after ski sliders). I disagree with your observation on gold lettering. In 1950 and 1951, the CCS is silver on black background, after that it is silver on green background. So all matches towards 1951

Open the trash can and put it in. Some people's gems are scrap for the others.
