It's amazing how LeBron ushered in guys taking care of their body better but the guys in the 80s and 90s could play 82 games a year and the playoffs more often than these people now. Their bodies might look better but they are a he'll of a lot softer than the previous generations

Agreed, I think the conversation is largely a myth, players were mostly in shape during the 80s-90s, early 2000s and could play and were expected to play every game. I'm not sure today's extremely well paid players see a connection between how much they make and the actual popularity of the nba with the public. There is a disconnect, the nba is less and less popular as salaries continue to rise.

I remember back in 2010 when ESPN was all over Lebron's waffling about which team he would sign with. They had the chutzpah to call Lebron's move "The Decision", as though it was more important than the presidential election.
We all knew he demanded this exploitation and wanted his dithering to be 24 hour news. Everyone knew that this was LeBron demanding attention like he was the second coming of Jordan, without the rings or the titles to show for it. LeBron is a shameless attention whore. It's all about his image and not the product or effort on the court. I mean, how much of a dweeb do you have to be to have "The Chosen One" tattooed on his back before he made one dribble in the NBA?
I never understood why anyone respected any of Lebron's achievements or his work ethic because from what I've seen, all of his energy went into promoting his brand. He put the cart before the horse without a single thing to show for it. I also blame the NBA for helping LeBron in his self-centered mission to be the "King". The NBA was desperate to field another larger than life superstar on the court ever since Jordan retired, and they decided to push this guy as The Chosen One straight out of high school. The whole hero worship song & dance was a sham from beginning to hopefully the end very soon.

David Stern tapped into marketing the individual superstar. Adam Slither is riding it into the ground.
The NBA would probably be in a better place if the LeBron storyline was portrayed as the villain. Instead of the face of the league.
Not that LeBron is a bad guy but it wouldve made way more sense to market him as the bad guy when he started ring chasing at such a young age, blowing up teams, leaving them in shambles.
That shouldve been the angle. But instead they made him the hero and that makes all of his selfish decisions look noble.

Lebron has been a plague for the sport for the better part of 15 years. He is the most narcissistic athlete of the 21st century. He flops, complains, jumps from team to team chasing rings, load manages more than any player EVER, calls himself the GOAT at every opportunity because even he knows he aint the damn goat but he thinks that if he says it often enough people might start to believe it. He has created this player first mentallity where the players think the fans owe them. Hes just obnoxious and most people will say good riddance when hes gone.

Kobe could do everything else better as a basketball player. Handle, jumper, shoot threes, guard the top players who handled the ball. So again. Shaq was the most dominant, Kobe was best all around player. That's why the were the best one, two punch. Plus, Shaq was the most dominant player from 00-03. I don’t usually agree with this dude, can’t stand his smug, over opinionated ass, but on this, I agree 💯 with everything he has said.

Exactly lazy journalism, don’t know how to talk about another sport. And when they talk about the usual sorts they don’t even know what they talking about.
      This is lazy journalism

A more appropriate comparison is wrestling or wwe. The ratings, the ppv buys, network subscribers, and attendance is tied to whoever is the world champion. The stories, the wrestlers, and outside forces can all affect company success.
Lebron is the wwe champ of nba. During title reign, super teams, unwatchable all star games, no stars in the dunk contest, load management and picking his own coaches.
