Thanks for posting this. Like you, I'm pretty short and for most of my life people have assumed I was much younger than I was. I got attention, but it was mostly negative attention (constantly harassed by older men thinking I was an easy target, ignored or dismissed at work because 'what does someone your age know about x, y, z?', cat-called or molested in public, and ignored by men I actually liked because they wanted someone their own age and assumed I wasn't). Now that I'm nearing 40 and going grey people have actually started to listen to what I'm saying and although I no longer get *as much* attention from men, the attention I do get is far more respectful. I'm treated like a human instead of a piece of meat. I'm even considering filling in the remaining brunette hair with extra grey to just go full grey quicker.
So interesting how you found more confidence with this change. I am transitioning to gray hair. Still long to go. Will try your hydrogen peroxide for the yellow tinges. BTW You look like very striking with that grey hair; like that game of thrones character Daenerys khaleesi played by Emilia Clarke!
Jessica, your video & what you have experienced I found very interesting. Maybe before transitioning, with you being so tiny & definitely very young looking, strangers thought you you were a teen, so treated you accordingly. You look very young now, so I can only imagine. Also, at least in the "olden days", the older generation were treated with more respect & I'm hoping that still stands true to some extent today & perhaps that plays a part in how you are treated now. In any event, I'm so happy this has been such a positive experience for you. BTW, your hair is gorgeous. I'm just 2 months in with my transition. I'm 68 & have been coloring my hair blonde for about 35 years. The grays I have around my face will no longer take the dye & I am just tired of coloring my hair. I can't wait to see my end result.
Thank you, GrammysGotHerGrooveOn! Please keep me updated on your progress! It is hard in the beginning but it gets easier and before you know it you will be fully transitioned to gray.
