    You are spot-on with the Poirot comparison! Please don’t go into Glass Onion thinking it’s “Knives Out: Part 2.” They are wildly different - and, while each is fabulous in its own way, comparing the two would be a disservice to both (a la Murder on the Orient Express “versus” Death on the Nile)

    It’s funny you mentioned Chris Evans loving dogs. I read somewhere that he said the hardest acting he ever had to do was acting like he didn’t like the dogs 😆 Ya’ll should definitely do Glass Onion. It wasn’t what I expected but it was great!

    Daniel Craig is great when he's let off the leash. Try Logan Lucky to see him having fun with another character.

    I love finding a new reaction to this movie. It instantly became my favorite movie upon first watching.
    There is soooo much detail that you won’t catch on first view. when you first see Ransom’s house, they pan across the row of bottles, then you see the same row with one kidding- the one he used to fire bomb the medical examiners office. And when Blanc first meets Marta (when she walks out onto the porch), he looks down at her shoe.

    I loved this movie. A total love letter to mystery fiction, especially Agatha Christie and her character, Hercule Poirot, in particular. I haven't seen the sequel yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

    Knives out is my favorite murder mystery! Such a good example of unreliable narrator, characters can say things, but you know that it's not true. Such as how the Thrombeys 'seem' to know which country Martha is from, but they all said the different country😂 The Glass onion is great too, but it's a different style from the first one. So it depends on which style do you like more, then you would likely prefer that one, but it's both great!
    Nick got a lot of thing right in the first go! I got nothing right except knowing that Ransom is stabbing Martha with a prop knife😂

    I love you two SO MUCH! Mucho love from North of Seattle. Brier, Washington. My own Mama passed in 2018 at 83 and I just turned 53. It’s so fun to “hang” with you two. I love your mutual respect and enjoyment with each others company. Anyhow, sending hugs!

    In 2005 Rian Johnson did a film noir mystery set in a 1980's Southern California high school called "Brick". Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Lukas Haas. It's increadable.
    And if you listen to the music that Daniel Craig is listening to in the car, it's kinda a clue to his character in "The Glass Onion".
    And Nick I was excited you guys were reviewing this, but knowing about Marta's issues with lying I was babbling "Oh, no" as the first scene with her and Daniel Craig came up. I'm so sorry dude.
    And thanks for another great video. 😉

    I remembered what Harlan said about Ransom, “He plays life like it’s a game without consequences until you can no longer tell the difference between a stage prop and a real knife.” Brilliant foreshadowing!
    when Marta threw up on Ransom that was actually baby food mixed with water. Knowing that makes it easier to watch.
    The movie was an homage to Agatha Christie novels. Have you read Agatha Christie? Her works broke the rules of the mystery genre; she became known as The Queen of Crime. Her novels go from 1920-1970s.
    Actress who played Marta gave a phenomenal performance! Glad they cut away to her reaction to the suicide; the look of horror on her face was outstanding!
    Like Blanc said, Harlan’s demise was the result of “a tragedy of errors.” When he pointed out how Marta could visually spot the differences between the morphine and the correct medication, he said it so quickly. Needed subtitles for that.

    Daniel Craig is playing a Louisiana French/Cajun character. They have a southern accent with a French twist.

  • @Kasino80
    @Kasino80 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    The thing about the southern accent, is, as I see it, a nod to Hercule Poirot who was often ridiculed for his accent by the people he was investigating.

    The Na** child masturbating in the bathroom is a great quote, but when the movie came out the line that got the most attention was when they're all confronting Ransom before the will reading and he's telling each of them to "eat sh*t"
    Soooo many shirts sold with that line on it lol

    Super fun reaction! I love Agatha Christie stories and this was such a fun, modern, witty take on them. Hope you’ll do Glass Onion, too.
    As for another Christopher Plummer film, I highly recommend a 1970s Canadian thriller called “The Silent Partner” with Plummer and Elliott Gould. Wonderfully sinister performance by Plummer.

      Another Christopher Plummer performance that is not as "dramatic" as his most well-known is his Oscar-winning turn in the film "Beginners". It's a beautifully poignant film about a father and son coming to terms with their relationship much later in life.

  • @Odd_Bunny
    @Odd_Bunny 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Chris Evans said the hardest part of filming this movie was having to tell the dogs no and push them away 😂

  • @cuchelo1
    @cuchelo1 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    I like that you mention the Agatha Christie influence but how it's a different take, and how you clock that they reveal the murderer far too early in the film for it to be so cut-and-dried. So instead of a traditional Christie "Whodunit", it's more of a "Whydunit?" I think that's far more interesting and difficult to pull off. I won't spoil the second film or give too many opinions about it in case you want to do a reaction video as unspoiled as you can be, but I will say that "Glass Onion" is a very different film than this one, so just go into it with absolutely no carryover from this one.

    Phew, glad of all the other Brick mentions. I remember really liking it, but also haven't seen it in over a decade so was a bit worried it was just me. Rian also did Looper, which was very good, and Brothers Bloom, which was decent. Basically, every movie Rian has done except Star Wars is worth a watch, so rather unsure what went oh so wrong on that.

    Don’t judge Rian Johnson by The Last Jedi (I would argue that most of what people hate about it was mandated by what Abrams had established, anyway). Check out some of his other stuff. Brick and Looper are both pretty great.
