I'm really impressed. You picked up on most of the important points while watching.

it helps watching it at home where you can stop a certain moments. I theaters you really have to pay attention or you'll miss it.
this movie was amazing to watch in theater because of that, you couldn't blink.

I remembered what Harlan said about Ransom, “He plays life like it’s a game without consequences until you can no longer tell the difference between a stage prop and a real knife.” Brilliant foreshadowing!
when Marta threw up on Ransom that was actually baby food mixed with water. Knowing that makes it easier to watch.
The movie was an homage to Agatha Christie novels. Have you read Agatha Christie? Her works broke the rules of the mystery genre; she became known as The Queen of Crime. Her novels go from 1920-1970s.
Actress who played Marta gave a phenomenal performance! Glad they cut away to her reaction to the suicide; the look of horror on her face was outstanding!
Like Blanc said, Harlan’s demise was the result of “a tragedy of errors.” When he pointed out how Marta could visually spot the differences between the morphine and the correct medication, he said it so quickly. Needed subtitles for that.

Since you mentioned the portrait, there were several different portraits of Christopher Plummer that were changed through the movie if you look at it again, where the mood he portrays expresses how things are going for Marta at that stage.

-This was a movie I missed when it was in the theater and wish I hadn’t. Like you, I had one idea of what it would be and at some point I gave up on that idea, which helped me to just watch it.
-Daniel Craig’s accent alone is a reason to watch. To go from James Bond to Benoit Blanc, he’s definitely amazing.
-What’s funny is that Craig was in “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo”. In the sequel “The Girl in the Spider’s Web”, the male protagonist is played by LaKeith Stanfield, who played Lieutenant Elliot in “Knives Out.”
-As for “Glass Onion”, I DID get to see it in the theater when it did a weeklong run in November(Oddly enough). If coming up with a wild entertaining plot is Rian Johnson just doing another “Knives Out”, it absolutely is. The storyline is not what you may think initially. Another fun and interesting cast with a couple of interesting cameos including in a scene near the start.

Now watch all the early Colombo episodes. You know who the murderer is in the first 5 minutes, and Colombo has to catch them. I would say Blanc is loosely based on Colombo, disarms people with his speech patterns and cigars, while he knows all along who the killer is but can't yet prove it.

Oh yes! One of my favorite movie! And very good reactions! And yes, the first 2-3 rewatches are very good, finding details and foreshadowing you missed on the previous viewings… there’s SO MUCH subtle foreshadowing, it’s ridiculous! XD
And yeah, the way he deconstructed the traditional “whodunnit” rules and played with them and our own expectations, even going as far as making sure ALL suspects were very big actors, and having Ransom being played by Evans, an actor mainly known for playing the hyper righteous Cap America… everything was chosen deliberately and precisely.
That was a very big passion project for Rian Johnson, and it SHOWS!
I’m very happy that it was a success, and he gets to do more!

As much as I love this film (and I do) I do expect a very different L(y)inda and Richard as I know a couple called that. I had a similar thing in Saltburn cos I know someone who was at Oxford in 2006 and I kept expecting her to walk across the back of shot.

They are both very similar and completely different… I can’t say I prefer one over the other, I love them both for different reasons. XD
But the main thing is that in both, Rian play, deconstruct, flip, reconstruct, throw, replay, and mold the mystery traditions in the most entertaining way possible. XD
