The themes, lessons, and ultimate message of this film has shaped my life as a man. A few memorable lines from the film: "Every Man Dies. Not every man really Lives". "Men dont follow Titles....they follow Courage" ...and "Lord, I am so afraid. Help me to die Well". A true masterpiece film and musical score.
Aloha @kiteokoh, you may already know this, but just in case not, Braveheart is essentially a mythic medieval retelling of the Christ story. When Wallace prays, "Lord, I'm so afraid, give me the strength to die well," he's in fact echoing Christ's prayer in the Garden, "If there be anyway for this cup to pass from me, but not my will, yours be done." The very lighting of that scene is remenicent of paintings of Christ in the Garden (Mel Gibson was well aware of what Randall Wallace was doing with the script). Randall Wallace himself has said it is the story of Christ told in a kilt, and "as much as anything, I turned to the Gospels for inspiration when writing the script." He also said, in response to the question of whether or not he wrote himself in to the character of Wallace, "I didn't write myself into the character of Wallace insomuch as I wrote Wallace as a prayer for the kind of man I wanted to be, and the kind of man I want my sons to be." If you've never done this, I recommend reading through the Gospel of John, and then watching the film again. You will find parallel after parallel, such as (again in Randall Wallace's words), amazing things as Robert the Bruce being both Judas and Saint Peter rolled into one. Truly one of the greatest films of all time, because it is so brilliantly woven through with the greatest story that has ever been told.
JAMES HORNER has to be one of the greatest ever film-music composers: up there with Hans Zimmer, John Barrie, Howard Shore and Ennio Morricone. This presentation merits far more 'likes' than it has thus far.
The whole build up from 8:42 to 10:15 just gets every hair on my arms standing straight up 🏴 Braveheart was my Dad's favourite film. He passed away nearly 2 years ago and every time I watch the film without him or listen to this soundtrack I imagine him right beside me 🙏🏴
Your dad had great taste! It’s the best movie for patriotism love of country, and for love of freedom! It’s also a beautiful romance! Horner’s soundtrack is just spectacular! i stand with your dad on being the very best movie!! ❤ i’m sure his spirit made a trip over to Scotland ❤️😇
Golden times of film music! What a beautiful performance for one of my favorite composers. thank you! I've been in at the Hollywood in Vienna 2013, I had goosepumps. I miss James Horner
When I embarked on a great walkabout through Scotland by myself, I came upon a towering oak tree in the foothills of Glen Affric, and laid upon her spent leaves of an earlier summer. I imagined this song echoing across the expanse of heaven. Music truly explains the unexplainable. Thank you James Horner for gifting us with this. May we all be brave enough to do the right actions that will benefit all creation. Not just humankind.
I agree! I wish the film version of “for the love of a princess” was on the actual soundtrack. I always come to this video to hear my favorite rendition of it
At 7:58, “After the beheading, William Wallace’s body, was torn to pieces. His head, was set on London Bridge. His arms and legs, sent to the 4 corners of Britain, as a warning.
It did NOT have the effect that Longshanks planned.
And I, Robert the Bruce, rode out to pay homage to the armies of the English king, and accept his endorsement of my crown.”
My father showed me this film on my first computer (large assembled PC of late 90s) when I was a young boy. We hummed the tunes together. My dad died and I still humm this music to remember him. I loved my Dad, the drunken sailor basterd that he was... Im not even Scottish ( Im Indian)
Close your eyes, rid your mind of all thoughts and you can feel the power. A reminder to do those things in life we always wanted but fear ruled us. Cherish those around you and give back. Courage of 1 helps others join in. Be the change
6:00 - 6:50 the first time I heard this part of the soundtrack, it changed my perspective on music forever. Just through sound, I feel like I’m in Scotland fighting the English to provide freedom to my people.
GODNESS!!!!!!!!!!!! this is the best ever by james horner.. the musicians here played with such passion and heart that you can feel it through your skin... thanks for all this great masters of music to give such a joy. im in tears now.....
OMG I'm sitting here w tears in my eyes. Music is the $h*t.....I could listen to this non stop so beautiful u can almost hear the full story in each part of the piece
Every time I hear this, I can't stop the feeling that makes me want to cry... can't explain... maybe it's associated with the dream I have to travel to Scotland.
Ufffff genial, piel de gallina en toda la obra pero el minuto 10:15, glorioso, me transporta a la pelicula que he visto como 20 veces o mas, basicamente por la enorme y soberbia banda sonora
For me, these Music is the Emblem of the resistance of the scotisch people against all agressor . The scotisch people should be proud of William Wallace...
There's a story similar in Peru where a patriot fought for independence and the spanish tried to torn his body to pieces, but they couldn't. His name was Tupac Amaru II

Completely agree, but, please, don't forget John Williams.
Diese Meisterwerk ist ein Geschenk!
Hans Zimmer cant come close to Horner
Remember Jerome Moross, Miklos Rozsa.....
+ Jerry Goldsmith
For me, that is the BEST SOUNDTRACK ever written.
It's up there in my top 10. For me it's 'the Gael' from The Last Of The Mohicans
Easily
It’s the first one that I loved so much I bought the CD!

100% agree!

"for the love of a princess" will be played at my funeral, so my last gift to this world is James Horner's music.
James Horner...so missed....he was truly one of the best
No more wars no more suffering!... "All we ask is Freedom"!!!... 😢
“Your heart is free, have the courage to follow it”
I love this song ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
This... I wish people will realise that Life is a symphony, not a 3min swifty pop song. The west has given us amazing gifts. Thank you James Horner.
Beautifully put Christian. Right how is when the world needs to sit up and think…before it’s too late.

I was in high school when I saw this in the theater. Its in my top 5 most favorite movies of all time
The movie is dire and historically inaccurate to excess!!!! And I am being polite!!
@krisendicott2306 I didn't watch it to study for a test. I watched it to be entertained
@@krisendicott2306 Literally stfu, nobody cares bud, its one of the greatest movies ever created, stay salty little englishman.

Thanks so much for adding this. Horner's all time best in my opinion. How this did not win best Original score at the Oscars I will never know.
I totally agree
He’d win a few years later for Titanic. But he deserved both
Thank you.
I'm crying now.

This will definitely be added to my thumb drive of songs to play at my funeral. Not a dry eye there for sure. I have always loved this soundtrack.

If Mr. Horner was a believer, imagine the master pieces he's creating now in the glory of heaven...in the presence of the Almighty. ✊🏻🥲
Oh just shut up lol. What a way to take the piss out of someone extraordinarily talented just so you can sit perched on your "moral" high-ground.
Either that or he's churning out some pretty suave Faustian tunes.
Beautiful piece of music and performance. Video 👍
It's so unusual to hear something other than the End Credits or For the Love of a Princess from Braveheart in concert. This is superb. ❤
