4:10 "inc VAT" is "Includes Value Added Tax" , which is UK sales tax. In the UK (And in fact most countries), it's included in the sticker price. You don't suddenly get an extra £10 added to the price at the checkout.

Precisely. Among the best economies I think only the US, Canada and Japan do not have tax included in the price. They are surely the only countries i traveled to that work that way. But as the Japanese are nicer I managed to buy a Switch lite with some other stuff tax free in Tokyo just by lending them my passport for a while. That's $185 for the lite

About the sports games. Here in Europe the GameCube version of Super Mario Strikers was called Mario Smash Football... ( i know...) so for the Wii... well you get the idea.

I am so happy that the Switch completely did away with region locking, and that if we want to see other region’s shops we just need to change the region on the system rather than forking more cash for a brand new system.
Swear to God, if Nintendo’s next system will bring back region locking...
why would they? There’s no reason to.
I don't see region locking coming back anytime soon. Thank god, all three console manufacturers ditch region locking. No more needing to buy a JPN PS2 to play Japanese PS2 games, no more needing to buy a European Wii to play PAL games.

13:50 Got some bad news for you Scott. The early Wiis in Europe had Wii Sports in a proper Wii case.
Hell, even I have the boxed version even though I got my Wii for Christmas in 2007 (Whole year after release)
I still have my boxed copy of Wii Sports from when I got the console, I even have the Wii Sports Resort one!
I have both the box version and the cardboard sleeve version. It's nice to have something more substantial to go with the rest of the collection.
And Links Crossbow training was boxed as well

I always liked the Wii U eShop. It felt so homely and comfy. A fun place to browse for digital titles, coupled with a smooth and clean experience.
The WiiU and 3DS’s eShop definitely had more charm then the Switch’s eShop, while the switch eShop worked but it doesn’t have the charm that it’s predecessors did
I've never experienced the Wii U shop as I don't have a Wii U, but I do like the 3DS shop, I like the music
Same it was so relaxing listening to the music while spending the gift card you bought with your birthday money on a new game or just adding something to your wish list for a birthday list or Christmas
@@Parappadarappa2 My virtual console collection is just associated with Christmas 2013 -> 2017. These past 4 years however, I haven’t downloaded many eShop games, not even at Christmas. I last got Paper Mario, and Zelda: Minish Cap.

'inc VAT' means "Including Value Added Tax". Unlike America, European prices generally alway include the tax already.
We don't do that because it isn't each individual item that gets taxed, it's whatever the total is.

Either way, the reason why America doesn't include VAT (sales tax) at the point of sale is because the rate is set at state and city level meaning it varies everywhere. In most other countries the rate is standardised (e.g. In the UK it's 20% everywhere) making it's practicable to calculate VAT into the price.

@@nineuk2349 It isn't just the UK that charges VAT, France, Belgium, Germany and most European countries charge VAT. They usually charge more as well (As high as 40% as low as 10% in places)

As someone who buys most of their consoles secondhand, I appreciate pack-in titles being rereleased IMMENSELY. Not all used console bundles come with the original pack-in titles so having the option to buy a new version of Wii Sports/Nintendo Land/etc is really nice. Plus having the full case is nice rather than just a sleeve.
I love how Rayman Raving Rabbids only had 1 review and it was 2 stars.

@@ConsumerOfCringe the wiiu had overall a much better designed user experince. Just look at each games page compared to the switch ones. (+plus free online with it's own social plattform and voice/facecam chat.)

the wii u had a beautiful consistent UI with nice colours, gradients and icons. my only complaint is the crappy load times

In the UK, early Wiis came with a properly boxed copy of Wii Sports (non-selects). I have one.

It was so fun, but you had to be careful that your friends didn’t put your controllers in dangerous places like the fireplace or freezer or microwave, or in some dirty, dusty crevice filled with bugs. I loved that game so much, but I didn’t trust anyone with my remotes so I barely played it

Man i wish Nintendo made a Wii U theme for the Switch. The whole OS looks beautiful and calming. The eShop looks fantastic AND fun. And the music... The music. Something that can't be replicated.
The Wii u was quite popular in the UK, like me and all of my friends had one, plus Wii u adds were way better in the UK, like we didn't have the why we need a Wii u adverts, we had CGI animated ads for games like Mario

i think the eshop is different per country in europe, not just “european eshop”. i live in the netherlands and i don’t remember it looking like this, nor do i remember that breath of the wild tagline so that’s probably a uk thing since you have a uk wii u

I know I'm late but at 4:09 if anyone else doesn't know, VAT is Value-Added Tax. It's a ~20% (differs on the country) tax added to all goods and services. The 'inc.' just means 'including'.

Style Boutique, or Style Savvy for you yanks, is a good game! Really under represented in Smash, and in general tbh.
British guy hear, Inc. Vat means “includes V.A.T” which is our form of tax, but instead of it being added on as your buying something it’s always just included in the price itself. So in reality Breath of the Wild brand new only cost like £48.65 here. But then VAT makes it £50.
There’s also a physical copy of Mario VS Donkey Kong Tipping Stars on Pal Wii U

I think what you gotta remember is over here the first Mario football game was "Mario Smash Football" on the Gamecube, so "Strikers Charged Football" makes sense from that perspective.

It's funny seeing Dr Kawashima as a top seller. It was the cheapest DS game that could be used to install Haxchi, an exploit used to run homebrew on Wii U.

fun fact on the nintendo land/wii sports bundles. i bought the mariokart wii bundle in 2010. it didn't come with wii sports and i had to buy the nintendo selects version. in 2015 i bought the wii u splatoon bundle. it still came with nintendo land preinstalled on the system.
i think the reason the mariokart bundle didnt come with wii sports too is because it came with a wii wheel instead. an entire game was replaced by a plastic wheel
Can tell you this now - Europe gets nowhere near as good stuff as America, and especially Japan.
But we do often get the obscure games Nintendo deem too risky for a US release.
Like Freshly-Picked Tingle's Rosy Rupeeland on DS.
And we often get physical releases that the US doesn't get - like the Taiko Drum 'n Fun on the Switch.
So it's not all bad over here.
Eu gets a ton of weird games. A huge chunk of the simple series for example(mostly the ones with tits and ass) are pal and jp exclusive.
God we get absolutely NOTHING in india. Not even an official presence here, had to import my Switch from UK
Mario Strikers Charged Football was probably picked to help with sales. If they'd put soccer on the US case, people would've probably skipped it while browsing a store because its soccer, and not american football. For Europe, there would've probably been a higher chance someone would take it off of the shelf to read the back of the box due to the higher popularity of football.
