    It's weird to me that only now people are praising Tom Cruise like he hasn't been in the zone for nearly forty years. The man practically spit out every award-winning film in the 90s. He may be a total weirdo, but he's a solid act when he needs to be.

      I think ita because when he was at his very peak was also when he was at the most unhinged, so his reputation is muddled and messy. But now that he doesn't seem to be as problematic, it became easier to like movies and him in extension.

      people went to see his movies. We’re they just not saying nice enough things? It just feels like a take thats set up with a premise that isn’t exactly true. It’s just a feeling you have. Did everyone else forget about Tom cruise. No. Did they stop seeing his movies. No. Are People are stand offish with him in real life because he’s a cult leader. Yes but other than that he seems to have gotten plenty of praise and support.

    I think 1 thing about this installment that definitely changes the vibe and not everyone will appreciate immediately is how they're now more proudly tributing older action movies and old spy thrillers, which is a thing that's been happening since McQuarrie took over directing. MI1 and Rogue Nation were the ones that felt most like old spy thrillers instead of straightforward action movies but Dead Reckoning takes it to a whole other level. The subtle tension building and emphasis on all the disastrous things that COULD happen if the mission doesn't go well instead of immediate physical stakes is really cool. It boldly rests a good amount of the suspense on characters and the way the actors deliver the scenes. Cruise especially (obviously aside from attempting crazy death-defying shit that's worth all the headlines) delivers imo his strongest dramatic acting in an MI movie ever. You can feel him channeling his covid production stresses into how justifiably extra-frantic ethan hunt is in this movie.

      @amartyakejora5451 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel Dead Reckoning part 2 will be more like Fallout though. More balanced between being a bombastic summer action movie and old-school spy thriller. These 2 movies might be similar to how Rogue Nation was more subtle and set up a lot of things that later come together in Fallout, going more all out on explosive action.

      I see where you are coming from, but to me Dead Reckoning felt more like what you’d get if you threw Final Fantasy & Metal Gear Solid into a blender. Seriously, throw some magic, Crystals, Chocobos & Moogles and this would be right at home as the story of a Final Fantasy game.

In fact Thanie Newton from the second one and Maggie Q from the third one were also offered to come back but also turned it down, mostly due to schedule conflicts.

      In Mission Impossible 2 (2000), Ethan Hunt is assigned a new mission by the Impossible Missions Force (IMF). He is tasked with retrieving a deadly virus called "Chimera" from a rogue IMF agent, Sean Ambrose, who plans to sell it to the highest bidder. To accomplish this dangerous mission, Ethan teams up with Nyah Nordoff-Hall, a skilled thief and former lover of Ambrose. As Ethan and Nyah delve into their mission, their relationship becomes more than just professional. They face various obstacles and challenges, including a high-speed motorcycle chase through the streets of Spain and a thrilling showdown on a cliffside in Australia. Their daring and resourcefulness are put to the test as they race against time to prevent a global catastrophe. While the mission progresses, it is revealed that Nyah has been infected with the Chimera virus. This adds an additional layer of urgency and personal stakes for Ethan, as he must find a way to save Nyah's life while also fulfilling his mission. The race against time intensifies as Ethan and his team work to infiltrate Ambrose's stronghold, engage in heart-pounding shootouts, and outwit their adversaries. In the climactic finale, Ethan confronts Ambrose and engages in a thrilling hand-to-hand combat sequence. With his skills and determination, Ethan manages to defeat Ambrose and destroy the virus, preventing it from falling into the wrong hands. Mission Impossible 2 is known for its stylish action sequences, including John Woo's signature slow-motion gunfights and adrenaline-fueled stunts. The film combines high-octane action with elements of romance and personal stakes, showcasing Ethan's unwavering dedication to his mission and his willingness to go to great lengths to protect those he cares about.

      In Mission Impossible 3 (2006), Ethan Hunt has retired from active field duty and is engaged to his love interest, Julia. However, his peaceful life is disrupted when his former protégé, Lindsey Farris, is captured by an international arms dealer named Owen Davian. Forced back into action, Ethan assembles a new team, including computer expert Luther Stickell, field agent Zhen Lei, and IMF director John Musgrave, to rescue Lindsey and prevent Davian from obtaining a powerful weapon known as the "Rabbit's Foot." Ethan's pursuit of Davian takes him from the Vatican to Shanghai, as he faces intense shootouts, thrilling chases, and mind-bending espionage. The mission becomes personal when Davian kidnaps Julia, forcing Ethan to make difficult choices to save her. In a dramatic final confrontation, Ethan manages to rescue Julia, eliminate Davian, and secure the Rabbit's Foot, which is revealed to be a container holding a deadly virus. Mission Impossible 3 showcases Ethan's relentless determination and resourcefulness as he faces seemingly impossible challenges. The film delves deeper into Ethan's personal life, exploring the sacrifices and risks he must make to protect his loved ones. The dynamic between Ethan and Julia adds emotional depth to the story, heightening the stakes and raising the tension. Directed by J.J. Abrams, Mission Impossible 3 combines intense action set pieces with a character-driven narrative. It explores Ethan's vulnerability and humanizes him as he balances his commitment to the IMF with his desire for a normal life. The film serves as a thrilling continuation of the franchise, reinforcing Ethan Hunt as a resilient and iconic action hero.

      Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol (2011) finds Ethan Hunt and his team facing their most perilous mission yet. The Impossible Missions Force (IMF) is disavowed after a terrorist bombing destroys the Kremlin, leaving Ethan and his team-comprised of computer expert Benji Dunn, field agent Jane Carter, and analyst William Brandt-on their own to prevent a global catastrophe. Their mission involves tracking down a rogue Russian nuclear strategist named Kurt Hendricks, who plans to initiate a nuclear war. To stop him, Ethan and his team must retrieve launch codes and prevent the activation of a Russian nuclear missile. The pursuit takes them from Moscow to Dubai and ultimately to Mumbai. Throughout the film, Ethan and his team face numerous challenges and thrilling action sequences. One of the most memorable moments is the exhilarating climb up the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building, as Ethan battles both the elements and skilled adversaries. The movie showcases a balance of high-tech gadgets, intricate plans, and intense physical feats. As the mission progresses, the team uncovers a larger conspiracy involving a mysterious organization known as the Syndicate. Ethan learns that Hendricks is merely a pawn in a much larger game. With limited resources and under constant threat, Ethan and his team must expose the Syndicate's true intentions and prevent a devastating global catastrophe. Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol emphasizes teamwork and camaraderie as the team members rely on their unique skills and unwavering trust in one another. With their ingenuity and perseverance, they overcome seemingly insurmountable odds to bring down the Syndicate and save the world from a nuclear disaster. Directed by Brad Bird, the film delivers a mix of heart-pounding action, suspense, and moments of levity. Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol showcases Ethan Hunt's determination, adaptability, and unwavering commitment to completing the impossible missions he undertakes. The movie sets the stage for future installments in the franchise and cements Ethan Hunt as one of cinema's most iconic action heroes.

A certain character gets reduced whilst a charming replacement is given time to shine but it just felt cynical. Im not sure whether this was done to create stakes or just because the actor was done! Ultimately Im not sure what I still want from this franchise. A stunt spectacular? A character story?? 5 & 6 managed to be both but this one feels lesser
