Best thing in Skeggy is that fantastic beach. No mud. And that smell of the sea in the air. You don't get that on the western side of England or in Wales. Miles of sand to walk and walk and walk. The pier's great too....and it's FREE.....sorry Weston super Mare! And the journey there is full of fantastic scenery, rolling Wolds villages or open bright Fenland skies for birdwatching. No boring old motorways. I can't wait to get Skegged up again! 🏴

I am glad you mentioned the plenty of room on the beach as during WW2 my Father flew Whitley bombers from Linton-on-ouse and one night coming back from a raid on Germany they ran out of fuel and just managed to reach the coast and had to land on Skegness beach which was in the process of being mined the following day after being refueled they took off down the tracks they made while landing to avoid setting off any mines.

Hello Neil l enjoyed your review of Raff55 and will ll give it a try we always go to the One Way cafe on the ringroad behind the Lumley and recommend the breakfast includes tea or coffee and also little Chippy opposite the Vine Hotel in Chapel St Leanards you did a review of your the Marine fish bar which was good but the Village Chippy is just as good
Not been to Skeggy since I was a young kid, miles and miles of sand and one of England's best bird reserves is not fat away, as is one of England's best food scenes. Skegness is great, looking forward to going there again (oh and Radio Caroline reception on 648 in Skeggy ain't bad either)
Yes, the only thing that spoils Skegness is the view from the beach, nothing but wind turbines, used to be a lovely view before they put those monstrosities there.
The lumley shopping plaza does close at 4pm in the winter and 5pm in the season, but skeg goes absolutely dead after 4pm in the winter, Quite a few of the shops close around 4 or around then, Apart from a handful most shops close at either 4pm or 5pm not 6pm.
I didn't go last year as I only checked street view and it didn't look great. Definitely going to get out and have a day out here after seeing this video, looks like a lot to do 🙂
Lumley road that change since 80s and chippy alley where Sir cliff richards signed Something religious While mods were fighting skins in tower garden. Omg its certainly changed. I used to live in skeggy. There one cafe on lumley road which was called copper kettle, couple doors up from barclay bank
I can't believe the hair dye and perfume shop has closed down 😢 I was planning on going when we come in April because my daughter gets her hair dye whilst we're there because they did the bright colours she has for great prices. I'm glad I saw this video or she would have been devastated when we got there
Great video, we used to spend two weeks every year in Skegness and had a great time. We always stayed in one of the sea front hotels but last year we were unable to because the hotel was housing asylum seekers that had come over on their rubber boats. I’ve been told they have now vacated all the seafront hotels but the hotels are now in a poor condition so it’s unlikely we will be coming to Skegness again
@bigdog4865 ... Well lets be honest, that's the only way many seaside hotels can stay in business, The British people never stayed enough to keep them going so the "boat brigade" as you call them is like manna from heaven for these hotels.
They used to do some pukka mixed flavoured milk shakes in Lucky Strike as well as ice creams. The milkshakes were mixes of ice cream and different chocolate bars blended together, delicious.
Any information welcome we will be visiting Skegness very soon hubby and I are not drinkers but really enjoyed a game of bingo/entertainment in the evening from 18.00 onwards is there anything in Skegness that provides this please,
Hi, there are a couple places to play cash bingo Roman Bank and North Parade, also The Embassy theatre is great, there’s also a few bars around Skegness have live music . Enjoy your stay 😎🙏👍
For me the problem with Skeggy is not the town its on a par with other seaside towns its access to the town, i live on the east side of the UK but i can actually get to Blackpool faster due to its good motorway connections, skeggy needs a better road to there either a motorway or a dual carriageway.
Will never happen, the population for the whole county of Lincolnshire is just 778,000 thousand people, and Lincolnshire receives hardly any tourists, the population of Lancashire is 1,266,000 thousand people, that's over one and a quarter million. Lancashire also has far more tourists and far more cities Lancaster, Blackpool, Blackburn, Preston, Burnley, Leyland, Chorley etc, etc, and is close to many other large areas like Merseyside and Greater Manchester. Lincolnshire on the other hand is close to nothing, it has rural counties situated at both ends of it.
I live just down the road (for the past couple of years) but only go into Skeggy for shopping. I recognised everywhere you were going but learned a lot. I didn't realise they were building a new McDonnalds (but I never use McDonnalds anyway). Do you know if they're going to close the current McDonnalds when the new one opens? I wouldn't have thought that Skegness is big enough for 2 branches.
