    I animated my summary of The 50th Law by Robert Greene.
    On top of my personal story of facing my fears & anxiety I share my thoughts on all chapters in this incredible, life-changing book. I don’t know where I would be without it.
    On Intense Realism,
    We live in an age of generalized anxiety. We fear not, if we’ll survive the next attack from an enemy tribe, if we’ll gather and hunt enough natural resources to sustain ourselves or if we’ll find shelter and warmth nearby a fireplace in a cave. While the intensity of the dangers we face lessened throughout human evolution, our sense of fear, an emotion that kept us alive, manifested in a different form, one that greatly limits our potential and our worries dramatically grew in number.
    Instead of real threats, we began to fear the loss of material wealth, worry about our status in society, about what the unknown future will bring, about illness and growing old, things as petty and nonessential as the uneducated opinions of people we personally dislike. Not until we have a near death experience or almost lose one of our loved ones are we reminded of what truly matters. And it’s at this point, when we live through a tragedy, that we are aware, that we see the world through our heart… for a couple of days, maybe even weeks, until we forget and get sucked back into focusing on our next promotion, social acceptance and superficial qualities.
    See the reality of the world you live in. Question the status quo. Knowledge is power. The more you obtain of it the better off you are. Remind yourself of what’s important to you and what isn’t constantly. We’ve been wired in a way that makes us pay more attention to the negative and black out the positive. You’re aware of this and you don’t let yourself be seduced by comfortable lies, constant outrage and wishful thinking.
    Key to living fearless / facing your fears (there’s no difference, it’s really just semantics) is knowing your environment like the back of your hand.
    On Mortality,
    We are going to die. There is no way around it. You fear death, because you fear life. If you were living life to the fullest, you’d be prepared to die at any moment. Like let’s imagine for a second, this was our final destination, I know it’s a scary thought, but bear with me. If we asked ourselves right now “Did I truly live the life I wanted and make the most out of it?” The answer for most of us is “No, not really.”, but here’s the positive. It’s not too late for us, we’re very fortunate to have opportunities that our ancestors couldn’t even dream up. You can start right now and if you’ve already started, you can keep going. Every morning you wake up is a blessing. You might not see that, because you hate your job, I’ve been there, but that doesn’t mean you hate life. Your job is the problem. It’s designed to waste your life, so the people you’re working for live all the memories & stories that you deserve. You want a reason to subscribe? I’ll go hard on this subject very soon, on how to make the system work for you, not the other fucking way around.
    Live an extraordinary life. Your days are numbered. You won’t get another chance. This is what you’ve got. You can play and win the game with the hand you’ve been dealt. It’s up to you how well you execute, no matter the circumstances you were born in. You might have to work harder than everybody else in order for it to pay off in the end, but you can’t expect anything, if you waste your time. Eventually, every second you chose to sacrifice for immediate gratification will accumulate and hit you hard. Value your time, invest it intelligently, know who to have time for and how much, appreciate every moment and you will see positive results. If you fuck up today, start again tomorrow. Not new year’s eve, but the second you wake up, it’s on. Break the devil’s cycle, before you become entrenched in it.
    Remember, life is precious, because it ends.

    I came upon this channel exactly 1 year ago today & this was the 1st video I watched multiple times absorbing the information daily until it became apart of my Mental DNA. I had already read the 50th Law many times B4, but something about this video made me look at myself & the book differently. I read it again & wrote down what I was doing wrong & right &improved my life by making Nihil Timendum Est my mantra too. Now I'm about to buy a house. I have a new car & I'm just a month away from getting my business up &running so I can eventually leave my job & work for myself for the rest of my Life. I Don't Pity Myself Anymore. Thanx for this video & all of the other ones that you use to break these very important books down. 1 Love from Harlem IntheBuildn. Peace!

    Illacertus, I just want to say thanks for this video. The first part of the video was so uncomfortable for me because I identified so deeply with it. As a young man still trying to figure things out and do right by me, it's good to get some direction and reassurance every now and then. I really appreciate your work. Looking forward to all your future pieces. Thanks again.

    Dear fearless warriors,
    When I told a friend of mine how The 50th Law has changed my life forever, he said *"that book sounds like cocaine"* and he was right, in 50's own words *"Reality is my drug. The more I have of it, the more power I get and the higher I feel."*
    And the reality is, among a wide array of very pleasant truths, that we are going to die one day. There is just no way around it. We fear death, because we fear life. If we were living life to the fullest, we would be prepared to die at any moment. My hopes are that you will develop a fearless sense of urgency. That you will see death in another light - not as the enemy, but as the inevitable outcome that drives us to make the most of every opportunity. *Life is precious, because it ends.*

    To your success,
    Nenad (illacertus)

    illacertus - you complete Boss. Keep doing this. This type of work gives me faith in humanity. Your work illuminates an otherwise dark and lonely world for special, critical thinkers everywhere that are grappling with rejection and dismissal, and aloneness. Floating in a sea of 8-figure-view videos that celebrate superficiality and promote apathy, your work alone justifies youtube's existence. Keep going! This is an incredibly powerful social service you are providing. Respect.

    I am inspired. I've been suffering for an injury for 4 some months now... I can't drive, meet friends, hike, workout, or otherwise live. Yet I'm running my business. In the past week I've doubled my income. I might even triple it or quadruple it. I will heal fully. I'm just waiting to get my last MRI. I miss life, and I hate how I complained about the most simple if things- it is an honor to be rejected by a woman, or to get nervous making new friends, or climb a mountain, or drive, or eat supper with friends, and road trip. I just want to be able to live- even if that means a bit of pain, cuz it's all about choosing what pain you can handle. when I heal my life will be so different... So grateful

    Wow! Thank you. I'm reading the book. Half way through it. What you put together is brilliant! I feel the same about our educational system. I focus on educating myself on a variety of things and training my mind to think, so I can teach my children to think. Thought is the corner stone of true education. You have truly exemplified that in this beautiful creation of art, thought and insight. Thank you.

      If I had to number them
      #1 Every Elliott Hulse video + Alexander Lowens books - Live my life on his principles and lessons
      #2 Rocky (All of them)(I know it's not a book but the movies changed my life more than anything)
      #2 Think and Grow rich
      #3 50th Law
      #4 Mans search for meaning
      #5 The rational male
      The War of Art, do the work & turning pro by Steven Pressfield were AMAZING for beating procrastination during college. However I don't think you need it - They just hit me at the perfect time and changed my life. I read them multiple times but I don't think i'll ever read them again - I no longer need motivation.
      Mans search for meaning -Viktor Frankl - also hit me at the perfect time - actually put me in a bad mood for days but then I re listened to the second half and it helped a lot - his principles are timeless and will literally help me for the rest of my life - look up the video [Finding meaning in difficult times (Interview with Dr. Viktor Frankl)] - it is so applicable for today
      Fear of life (and all his books) by Alexander Lowen
      The rational male - Rollo Tomassi + The way of the superior man by David Deida and the book of pook are all you need in understanding women - helped me a lot - complete mind shift
      Every Rocky movie (Counts as 1000 books in my opinion - all the motivation and inspiration I ever need)
      Lastly Think and grow rich - basically every self development book in one - rereading right now - It is my bible and I will look at it for the rest of my life
      These are what I would give my kid or recommend to anyone

    • @Illacertus
      @Illacertus  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +IHACKER316 Fairly interesting. Elliott's book King just came out, if you haven't checked it out yet. I've got to say I like your list & appreciate that you took your time to write it out in detail. I'm unfamiliar with Alexander Lowens - I certainly will check him out. Plus I might just need to rewatch the Rocky series. haha "Who's got the right to stop you? Nobody!"

    • @rockusrock
      @rockusrock 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      stasyszy I've been aware for a few years now. Unfortunately, I've fallen into what I call middle class mentality. What I mean by that is that as middle class we are taught at a very early age that once we have a "career" with steady pay and "great" benefits we are set for life and wait for retirement. Every time i take a trip anywhere, I stare at mansions, super cars and fancy establishments and wonder how did those people get there? I know the answer but I am too much of a coward to risk my "comfortable" middle class wealth.
      I think once people break that mentally and learn how to stop working for money and letting your money work for you, only then they can achieve wealth and happiness.

    • @stasyszy
      @stasyszy 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      wait for retirement? and lose the best years of your life.
      happiness is bettering yourself thru experiences not materials...
      Experience and start ticking things off your bucket list, no need to be drastic. Something each weekend/month you want to do/try, and you will hate your work less.

    • @Illacertus
      @Illacertus  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha, you're awesome, Jhae. Thank you for the kind words. I tried to put myself back into the situation I was in & remembered all the anxiety, how sad I felt, how angry I got & in some cases still am about the world we live in. My aim was to capture those emotions in the recording & then draw a video that would help visualize everything. I think I'm not the only one who's gone & is going through these feelings & that's why it's so relatable. You're not alone. Plus, I love your positive attitude!
