RNV POWER your way over exaggerating. Sports karate has been a thing for decades now and has had no effect on Okinawa karate and can never effect the way you practice your Martial art. If some wants to focus on the sport aspect of karate, there is nothing you can do about it and neither should you have anything to do about it. It people do want they want and you do you as it always has been and will be
Mario U perhaps the most unfortunate thing about point kumite is that it is what most people think of when they hear karate. That's why so many people out there dismiss it as an effective self-defense system. I think RVN is worried that this perception of karate will go completely global/mainstream once it enters the Olympics. Even amongst the martial arts community, karate can be a controversial topic. With the popularity of MMA and boxing these days people look to those sports as the pinnacle of combat, quickly dismissing traditional styles like they're ancient nonsense. Therefore I really don't think there's much truth in what you say about the sport not affecting the traditional world.
You're definitely over exaggerating. 1. Karate is already out of the games after this upcoming Olympiad if it isn't canceled a second time and likely won't be coming back anytime soon. 2. The average person doesn't even have a clue that karate will be in the Olympics. If the games do happen it won't be on daytime or primetime hours. It'll be shown at like 2am and not even the whole thing, just a random clip just like with judo and taekwondo have for the last few decades. Can you name any of the most recent taekwondo gold medalist without Google? I doubt. Whoever takes home the gold won't be the next Michael Phelps or Simone Biles. They'll barely be remembered. The US only has one person who qualified for karate and her chances of even winning bronze are slim to none. Olympic karate will have affect in the grand scheme of things for karate. The Cobra Kai show will have more global influence than Olympic karate.
Once the majority of society enjoys sport karate more than traditional by accepting it as an Olympic sport, the few traditionalists will be marginalised and die out, together with effective actual street fighting techniques. Many will compromise for Olympic glory. To not understand this negative effect is delusional.
RNV POWER sport karate doesn't focus on self-defense. It's just a fun game that was created to increase karate's popularity around the world. It cannot replace karate because it isn't karate. Don't give up hope just yet!
RNV traditional Karate has long since been marginalised, fifty to sixty years ago it began. a martial artist is somebody who is humble enough to know that just because you are a good athlete, does not mean you understand martial arts. so its time to call this something else, and let it have a life of its own. e.g. martial sport, martial athletics. etc.
Dont think Olympics will affect the traditional karate they will have to use European format to accomodate all the different styles. That is a sport based on karate and boring. In the old days when it was shotokan vs shukokai vs gojo...ippon kumite = that was exiting inspiring karate. Then came England vs Germang vs France vs South Americans.. However the format they have now of the unison kata and bunkai is great and the standard of the woman excellent...in my humble man opinion😊 Why is this so..cause the stcik to the traditional
Even in my country, India, the Great art has become a joke with sports style..many a times black belts got beaten up very badly on the streets by two or three thugs and even their sensei got bashed up when he came to the rescue, but 25- 30 years back, I saw four to five persons in hospital beaten by a brown belt in self defense, collarbone broken, shoulder dislocated, Concussion on forehead with uraken, damaged testicle etc. That is what I call " karate"
This the real karate , bravo Japan !!!
Olympic karate is the sun setting for traditional martial.

guy in beginning practicing with no ego. listen to his desperate screams.
Marvelous. Osss!
There is the spirit of Budo
OSS maester 👍👍💪👍
Why photography is fast and from one angle, please ask you to expand the field of photography until the movements and techniques become clear to us
you'd have to really relax to defeat them

Keisuke Nemoto Shihan seems like the japanese version of former italian prime minister Matteo Renzi.
👍👊
Oss
