I came across this name Tom Mboya as a history student during my secondary school days in Anglophone Cameroon. He was a great man who was eliminated. There was this other guy Dr Robert Ouko,a brilliant kenyan minister of foreign affairs who was also assasinated in a despicable manner during the Daniel Arap Moi regime. I actually followed this story intensely on VOA in the 1990s when short wave broadcasting was the technology at the time as i scrambled through various frequencies to get international news from international broadcasters. The world turned upside down with the coming of the internet.
Tom mboya was a very brilliant man. He posed a real threat to the powers be at that time. He was the next big thing and this was unsettling to them. I have listened to many recordings of him, and I'd say Mboya was way ahead of time. Kenya would have been on a completely different trajectory had this man got a chance to be president. The best that Kenya never had!
Sufficient time has gone past that a full judicial review and independent investigation should be done to ascertain what happened to this brilliant leader and man of the people. Complete the story of his great life Kenyans, Africans and indeed the world are owed answers to how his murder was plotted and executed. Thanks to Kenyan Historian team for documenting this story.
Wow! Good job. Been looking for such. I really had a special connection to Case Files by Denis Onsagira and this gives me that vibe. I love who you narrate. Am here to stay. Please cover recent cases as well.
Tom Mboya's political ambitions should not be overlooked. He had just managed to have parliament lower the age requirement for presidentcy. He was sure he was on track to be president after Kenyatta. He was assassinated immediately upon arrival from Adis Ababa OAU meeting.
FACT: Mboya sponsored a number of students from Luo Nyanza to study in American Universities. One of these students was Obama snr. Dad to Barack Obama.
The shooter was taken to Russia by Oginga Odinga but by the time the shooting was happening the shooter was working for Kenyatta.Mboya was a threat to both Kenyatta and Oginga,he was slowly taking over Luo Nyanza and gaining more national popularity as well.
Pio Gama Pinto and Malcolm X were often in correspondence and were assassinated just days apart in 1965. Four years later, Tom Mboya met a similar fate. What these three figures had in common was that their political ideology seemed to lean more towards the USSR. It is, therefore, not a stretch to postulate that MI5 and the CIA might have been the ones who took them out, just as they did with Patrice Lumumba.
When you hear Dr.Oburu Odinga talks like that in Ogollas funeral,Nyanza people are always traumatized with all these deaths of their sons who are next to power, but why Nyanza people why 😢
Muuaji Njenga(murderer Mûgane’s neighbor) was cannibal Jaramogi’s mkono man.The big man he was referring to was his boss,Jaramogi who had muuaji Kamau’s permission to kill Mboya so as to inherit all Luos without opposition.
So why didn't Njenga deny the offence? Why did he pass on the blame to the Big Man? In any case it doesn't matter much who fired the shots. What matters is the one who sent him.
@@georgeodhiambo598 ...Njonjo was the one running government as an Attorney General...Jomo was very old and he was jst a signatory for any decisions made by Njonjo....so he will not do anything for Njonjo

We never know what would have happened...but I think you are right. He was a very sharp man.
Kenya always get the worst to lead them, apart from Kibaki.
Imagine he died in 1969.......weeh Kenyan game of thrones together with the CIA

❤️💔🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪
Not only Luo Nyanza but Kenya , including Wangari Mathai among others
I think the big man was Kenyatta himself, otherwise to whom did Mboya pose as a threat? Your narration is for sure quite unique, very intriguing

The big man was oginga odinga
Nah - Dr. Njoroge Mungai...
Great documentaries. If only you could talk slowly, add better background music/sound that resonates with the storyline. Anyways!
Slowly? No please. Kindly use your video settings to lower your speed of delivery.
Continue Resting In Peace Mboya!
Good job historian ...
Good kenyan vibe documentary
They should also have pushed for other accomplices who could have accompanied Njenga in his mission....
We will all stand before our maker one day!
MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE....❤️❤️❤️
insightful video

No way! Mboya did not lean towards Russia at any time of his life. Mboya's killing was due to local political power struggles.
Tom Mboya's political ideology was far removed from the USSR (of that time) - he and Pio Gama Pinto were in completely different political camps...
Splendid stuff
Rest well Jasuba
Superb work on this story

Ben Gethi is the one who shot JM Kariuki but not mboya.

Then why didn't his boss Kenyatta take appropriate action? The big man was Jomo Kenyatta. That's where the buck stopped.
