When I go duck hunting and miss, my dog rises out of the grass and laughs at me. Is there anything I can to stop him from doing that?

Today I started working with him and he was just running around the yard and being stupid so I gave him a few minutes and I put him on the leash made him sit threw the dumbie and he went a gave it back to me I added the leash and he did perfect yesterday he didn’t have the leash and did it perfectly but he wouldn’t stay till the bird hit the ground he’d run as soon as he saw me throw it this really helps! This is very helpful and my dog is only a year old this month…thank you! Again this is VERY helpful

What in tarnation that is not a Texas accent, It may be close to a Texas accent in some of his drawn-out words but that my friend is an Arkansas accent.
I know that Texas has several variations of accents and I have the southeast Texas accent while my friends in Corpus Christi have a deep from the throat and chest accent with a Mexican twang that sometimes makes them sound as if they have a lisp. I didn't say all this to be a know it all or anything but he did say he was from Arkansas at the beginning of the video not Texas and I think the Texas Pride in me had to let that be known😂

I ain’t waiting no eight hours for a duck to come by. If I haven’t seen a duck in two hours I’m going scouting for the next day.
Haven’t had that happen though because I always pre scout my hunts.

My golden is 2 years old and I just started working with him. He loves to retrieve balls and sticks (playing fetch) but do you think it's to late to try to train to retrieve birds? Thanks for any input!

    • @SportDOGBrand
      @SportDOGBrand  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thanks for asking about this. Though it is always best to begin hunting training when dogs are young, every dog is an individual and some can learn later. We would recommend reaching out to a professional trainer to see how to start working with your golden to see if bird retrieval is something he can still pick up. We hope you both can be enjoying time in the field together in the future.

I love my dog Loki - but man is he rebellious .. (he was passed through 2 families / we got him at 9months - which is 4 days ago) but I’m not giving up on him I want him to be a good boy.. he barks at people, dogs , he pulls , he jumps on tables).

Got a question, please. If you're using pressure to keep the dog on the spot, then using pressure to introduce force fetch.. doesn't that second one cancel out that first one? Thanks so much, James

May I ask how old the dog is?
      1 Long line
2 Back away from the dog while your call them to u
3 one retrieve a day for 2 days if they dont lay down then move to two retrieves for a few days and keep building from there.
      I hope this helps

Reinforce your here command. Under no circumstances should they not come to you when recalled. Make sure to utilize the leash. Might take a couple weeks even but couple 15 min sessions a day helped me alot with that. Also reinforce the hold command to.

    Note to self:
    Work on stay.
    Challenge the dog.
Make them comfy keeping fetch object in mouth.
