Labs are God’s gift to undeserving humans! I have had four over my 76 years. They all lived to a ripe old age. I don’t think I ever met four people I could honestly say we’re better than those dogs. My current Lab is continuing that tradition.
I’ve had three labs in my 61 years and I’m spinal cord injured of 46 years post injury. My last lab who just passed away last week Rufus train service dog, best friend, and soulmate. He’s so dearly missed. I’m looking for another male lab to take his place.
"Speak kindly to me beloved master. Revel in my unconditional love, and give me every minute that you can spare, for my time with you is short" - Labrador Retriever
Just put my dog (14yo) down a week ago and this made me tear up again. I use to be a pro dog trainer and my dog was the first dog I learned to train on. He was my hunting partner, my companion, my best friend. I miss him dearly.
Lost one of my best friends a couple months ago to ITP.. 5 year old chocolate lab named Jasper. This video did the same to me. I miss him beyond words too man.
Your story is the same as mine. I'm 49yrs old and just put my boy down. Training him was such a joy. Hunt test were our passion. He's gone and I'm lost. I have another 4mobth. Chocolate I'm working with. I can only hope she can give me the joy my partner Decoy gave me.
You definitely get my passion. My five year old doesn't have a pedigree. He probably will never win any kind of field trial. But he's never missed a mark and he would give the heart from his chest just to hear me say "good job".
I had a 14 year old black lab, Winnie. This choked me up as well. They definitely leave a mark on you. The narrator said "family members for the next 12-15 years" and I know he was referring to their living years, but the truth? They stay with you forever.
I'm thankful that my first dog was a lab. There's a reason why they are the most popular dog in America. They are beautiful animals. This film is an amazing homage to the best breed in the world.
our 13 yr old yellow lab passed a month ago. Absolutely the best lab i've had. It's going to be a long time to get over him. Allot of people don't understand why I would be that broke up over just a dog. He wasn't even a dog. He was friend and a companion. I know he's with my mom up above at his own lake, with unlimited things to retrieve. God bless our 4 legged family members.
To those of us who have' had one? We understand completely. Really sorry to hear about your loss, all I can say is that it does get easier but you never ever forget.
Great video . I have a rescue lad My wife and I received from a human society. Besides my wife and our two sons she has been the greatest gift i have ever been giving. She is my angel from God!
Each man is entitled to one good dog and one good horse in this life. And i always feel sorry for those other dogs and horses that have to live up to the memory of that one.
Watching this innumerable number of times is absolutely priceless! Rightfully said, Labs are just not part of our journey in life. They engulf an immortal story within us.
I just lost my lab at the age of 7 from a vehicular accident Two days ago. She was taken early from me….a love unmatched and probably never will be. There is just something about them that taps down deeper than most emotion will ever reach. I lost my baby girl.
Have to admit, that made me tear up. Have had labs my whole adult life. Now I have Daisy. Love her just like all the others I've had. Her second year starts soon.
Beautiful dogs......have 14 yr old english and while its toward end she has been the best thing in my life and such an awesome creature.....everyone she meets wants to take her home........she basically trained herself, so so smart!
Labs curs and catahoulas that's all myself and my kids will ever have. From herding our live stock to guarding and protecting the family. Working dogs are for working families.
As a retired USAF military working dog handler, trainer, and kennel master. This .... this is why they are mans best friend. Rip Durban D250/ Ate J241. Just say when... thanks sitka for that.
Well, my brother's lab hunts with us all the time. Howard (the dog) really loves watching these videos. No joke. He goes crazy when he sees dogs on the screen... and ducks.
My black lab died few days back . Not only he was extremely intelligent ,but was a sweetheart too! He being a family dog was the one who bit others twice just to save us ! Labs dont bite easily man! But he just nailed it. I miss my bruno ,my life seems so dull without him ,he has left a void in it i hope he could just see or hear me now and decides to come back in his next life ❤
Great video, as my lab enters her golden age I remember when she would jump into the water chasing Canada geese, well frankly we both would for fun, I am not a hunter. I love the breed, best family dog ever, loyal as hell, and she has never needed a fence to stay in the yard. Walks 10 feet behind me as I cut the lawn.
Having dealt with Barton through social media, I can say this man is dedicated to his craft beyond belief and a great all around guy. SOK is an awesome company and breeds the best pups in the world.
Love our heelers to death... not hunting dogs like labs but they look at you the same way... unconditional love... wouldn't trade that feeling for anything. Awesome video and good luck with your dogs and hunting!
Awesome ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I have a lab ( Jase ) he is always so obedient and loving I’m not a duck or waterfowl hunter but I enjoy watching videos of hunters using dogs to retrieve wild game so amazing to see a Lab having a great time outdoors. Thanks for sharing, enjoy and have a Great Friday !!! Danny
I'm always fascinated when someone has that certain passion that's makes them the very best at what they do. I know nothing about dog training, but I value and respect the level of consistancy this guy has for getting out there every day and doing what he loves. Awesome video👍
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Lab ❤️!! I knew I was gonna tear up as soon as the video started. My 4 yr old lab, Rocket, just got some tight hugs and he looked at me like,”What’s up?”
Working and being a relevant person in society is the most satisfying, Congratulations Barton R, extraordinary video, you see the great passion and ability to train these great adventure friends. I follow your videos and am enrolled in southern oak kennels.
One of the best vids I've seen in a long time. Watching the dogs work has been one of my favorite things about waterfowling from the beginning. Finally getting to run my own dog has taken it to a level that I didn't even know existed until now. You guys nailed it!
Rescued a Lab-Mastif (Mastador), ended being a great all around outdoor dog, runs rabbits, hounds deer, fantastic flusher, a little jumpy for ducks though. She knows when I start throwing stuff in the truck its on, and she just goes crazy. By the way, the filming and music were phenomenal, I felt like I watched a short film, but yall really captured the feeling of the bird dog and connection with the hunter and the environment. Fantastic!
Eh. E collars are great for training. Once trained and seasoned, they are pointless on a good dog. I use to put one on my dog while hunting, but 95% of the time I didnt turn it on or the batteries were dead.
Miles Newton Exactly my Chesapeake has to have one on every time we go out hunting or training. Because if she goes out like 50+ yards for a retrieve, and does something like drop the training dummy for example. By the time I get there she won’t know what she did wrong. A e collar allows to correct on the spot.
Awesome video! The group I train with and hunt with uses labs for upland hunting as well. My pup (only 8 months old now) held a point on a chukar for over 10 seconds on his very first bird exposure. He seems to have a natural knack for ducks, maybe even more so than pheasant, quail or chukar, but like you mentioned in your video, I love every second with him out in the field, whether its training or hunting.
Jeez, if only I could produce a video half as good as that ! Stunning. Next to my kids my pair are my world, I am in Scotland training for and working on driven shoots , pheasant, partridge, duck, grouse with the odd rabbit. Again stunning video and content .
wow, what a video, chills watching it and the dogs....... next level breeding there. keep grinding, hard work pays off on all those cold wet miserable morning when its just you and your dog.
I have a couple GSP puppies. Not a Lab but I loved this video. Incredibly uplifting and inspiring. Looking forward to the training.. and specially the company of a loyal gun dog.
Incredible video. My dog Hunter just turned 10 weeks old. Since day one, we have been working on retrieving and him learning how to get down and using his nose. For now, we will focus on dove hunting. I may start waterfowl hunting now, though. Labs are just the best
Our first dog as a married couple was a Lab/Weimaraner cross nearly 40 years ago. Got him at 5+ weeks (yes, way too young). Hand fed him baby cereal and milk for a couple of weeks. For nearly 15 years, he was our constant companion. I cried like a baby when we lost him. I'm sitting next to another Lab/Weimaraner cross right now. I will cry like a baby when his time comes, too. There were a couple pure Labs and Weimaraners in the 25 years between, but there's just something about the combination.
They are definitely a part of the family and such a tough loss when the time comes. We are sorry to hear of your loss but hope you have many days left with your best bud now.
@@SITKAGear Thanks. My Lab/Weim is only 7, I also have a "papered" Weimaraner that's 8. I should have at least a few good years with them. Just finished a 2-mile walk with both of them. Fall is coming!
I raise puppies for a non profit Org that provides Guide Dogs for blind people at no cost. Only about 30% of the dogs make it as a Guide Dog because it takes such a special dog. I have two labs that I ended up adopting after they were career changed. I am a single older man and these two wonderful labs are my family and I feel so loved with them sleeping on each side of me every night.
I have loved the 2 Labs I’ve had ,but I’m a water spaniel guy , but take them down to the lake and the difference is pretty amazing, the labs loved routine, yard work then retrieving, the 2 curly knot heads would do the yard work and about 10 minutes of retrieving work and get bored,if it didn’t have gun fire ,and feathers they weren’t interested , and the labs would retrieve until they damn drowned. But all 4 of these dog were like an extension of my arm ,I miss them
Labs are God’s gift to undeserving humans! I have had four over my 76 years. They all lived to a ripe old age. I don’t think I ever met four people I could honestly say we’re better than those dogs. My current Lab is continuing that tradition.
Superb sentiment
Best dogs on the planet
I agree 100%
We made dogs

Sorry to hear that it must be rough.me and my 9 month old GSP are just starting our journey i hope its a long one! much like yours!
Sorry for your lose pal. I know the feeling well. Keep your head up

my lab just died last night. He was an Amazing hunting buddy gun dog and companion. Such an endearing dog. This video is so awesome.
He will hunt in heaven
So sorry for your loss
Danny Brunt hjuuhhjuuuu
I’m sorry man.
May his soul rest in utmost peace
You definitely get my passion. My five year old doesn't have a pedigree. He probably will never win any kind of field trial. But he's never missed a mark and he would give the heart from his chest just to hear me say "good job".
"some of my favorite waterfowl hunts are just me and the dog" that is how you know a true dog man.
When you and the dog take the gun for a walk.
"I'm looking and thinking 'I wouldn't want to go in that'."
"You just tell me when".
There truly is nothing cooler than watching dogs work. I love it!
One of the best lab dog videos ever
Glad you enjoyed it John!👊
Labradors are the best dogs hands down, the way they care and work with you is second to none! Good boy!
I had a 14 year old black lab, Winnie. This choked me up as well. They definitely leave a mark on you. The narrator said "family members for the next 12-15 years" and I know he was referring to their living years, but the truth? They stay with you forever.

Sends chills running down my spine. Only a month away!
First time in my life as a man I cried....was when I had to give up my Lab...Worst and best decision I have had to make in my life. R.I P. Tobby.
Each man is entitled to one good dog and one good horse in this life. And i always feel sorry for those other dogs and horses that have to live up to the memory of that one.
my current lab is having one hell of a time catching up to her older brother xD
Labs are just The best
Working dogs, hunting dogs and just overall great family dogs
Watching this innumerable number of times is absolutely priceless! Rightfully said, Labs are just not part of our journey in life. They engulf an immortal story within us.
Whoever edited this video did an amazing job!
Gosh I love this so much, I love watching dogs being put to work, doing the jobs that they were bred to do.
I just lost my lab at the age of 7 from a vehicular accident Two days ago. She was taken early from me….a love unmatched and probably never will be. There is just something about them that taps down deeper than most emotion will ever reach. I lost my baby girl.
God bless you brother. May your heart be healed. She will always live in your heart and mind
Have to admit, that made me tear up. Have had labs my whole adult life. Now I have Daisy. Love her just like all the others I've had. Her second year starts soon.

That’s an enjoying life for a man and his best friend. The video is simply amazing. God bless!
Magnificent piece of video. There is nothing more beautiful than a working dog doing well what they do best.

A Lab is truly man's best friend.
Our Lord thank you for the gift that is our dogs.
Incredible film. Gives me chills that’s for sure. There’s nothing like the bond between a hunter and their dog.
I can just see one of these good doggo`s getting home from a hunt and nodding off in front of a warm fire thinking to itself "BEST DAY EVER!!!"
Extraordinary Labradors and very suitable scenarios for that quality training, congratulations
Wow. I felt every second of that video as a waterfowl hunter and dog lover. It simply gets no better. Well done sirs.
Well said
One of the best if not the best video on TH-cam. Love the dog work. I get it

Awesome video-presentation! There is no greater bond between dog and man than the bond established between a man and his dog that he takes afield!

Can’t wait. I’m in line to pick one up in the summer!!!
This is a ridiculously bad ass video and great story telling!
Awesome video. Looking forward to more
these dogs are awesome!
A beautiful story. Thanks for sharing!
Animals are AMAZING as are those that LOVE them.

Love the no shock collar approach
Eh. E collars are great for training. Once trained and seasoned, they are pointless on a good dog. I use to put one on my dog while hunting, but 95% of the time I didnt turn it on or the batteries were dead.
Agreed. E collars are for lazy people who can't/ don't want to dedicate more time to educate themselves and the dogs.
Depends on the dog and level of training. The problem is to many people don't know what their doing with one.
Benoit Girard E collars should only be used to fine tune what the dog already knows, and correct behavior at a distance.

Great video...obviously a great trainer! Dedication to the max.
I miss our chocolate lab so much after watching this. He was a great hunting dog it helped that his grandfather was Storm's Riptide Star.
Beautiful Labradors.
Looks like hard but incredibly rewarding work. I would love to do this for a living. Awesome video.
Love it! Great video! My gun dog is 6 now & enjoying every step of our journey together! ❤️🐾🐾

Milton, my chocolate Lab, is 12 years old and still running like a puppy! Stairways and all. I’m so lucky.
Jo In I’m so sorry for your loss. No matter how long we have them, we’re not ready for them to pass on.
What a great video.........Thanks!
God gave us dogs to show us how to love.
What a brilliant video.
Stoked you loved the film, Phil. Thanks for tuning in. 🤝

Beautiful. Yes, I understand.

Bad ass video boys! Make more like this please 🙏🏼
Nothing like a Lab. I love all kinds of dogs, but to me, my labs are, and have been special :)
Gave me chills, bro.
Incredible footage
This is a beautiful video.
the production on this is fire!!!!
This is the best thing I’ve watched this year! Good one boys!
this video is on point ... best hunting dogs in the world
Labs are the best.Great video thanks!
Awesome, and inspiring, labs are true warrior dogs, nothing seems to faze them!
