So a lot of the feedback I got from my last Tiger video was how do I angle?
Angling is definitely more of an art than a science when it comes to doing it in real-world matches.
Terrain, cover, range, and player skill all play a huge part in deciding how much you can angle and if it will work or not.
This quick guide should give you the basics - but in the real world, practice is what will make you a king of angling and dominating in the Tiger ;)
Let me know what you think and if this was helpful!
Hope you enjoy.

T-34 (1940) is a beast, excellent armor and gun
@@tankonaut The only tanks you need to cover at 3.3 are the KV's and maybe a T-34.
Yes yes please 🙏 I am a new player and don’t really know the amour and how the mechanics work in this dreadful game
You know you reached peak performance when you reaction angle. Especially with Medium tanks its crazy effective to anticipate Hits and angle accordingly while he shoots. Very important for the Panther turret as its Mantled is a weak spot with enough armor to stop rounds if hit on an angle
100%
If you slap an 100mm+ shell between the hull and tracks you have an beautiful show of fireworks
I never shoot at a tiger’s mantlet because it’s extremely thick and will almost always stop an is-2’s shell for some reason. Also if you see a tiger angling, either hit the lower part of the hull side (right above the roadwheels and tracks), in the cupola or the barrel. You can also shoot through the sprocket (the wheel that is powered by the transmission to make the track move) as right behind it is where the armor will be angled the least, but like shooting the lower hull side it’s a high risk high reward shot
Tiger mantlet is judged to be a space armor, but can kill him shooting machine gun spot.
Funnily enough I can get through the Tigers Mantlet with 76MM M62 Shells
@@ManThatsMental Yeah there’s a small rectangle on the right side I believe (when facing it) that is less thick than the rest of the mantlet, but it’s really risky so I wouldn’t shoot there unless you’re like a T34 (heavy tank) in a downtier.
@@maplearrow1842 jumbo is a heavy tank that can take Tiger rounds, I’ve been in battles where such has happened, but I would retaliate by hitting that mantlet and killing their loader gunner and commander.

For the 76 jumbo users: shoot the commander hatch, but make sure that its the taller one, like the one in the video
Yep that's a good weakspot
It also works with 75 jumbo, the shell goes into the cupola at 800+ meters. @@tankonaut
Tiger H1 is so sad just because of the cupola sadly. Even if you move, its an easy target for the jumbo at close range.
I don't disagree that its a big weakspot, but I find people often panic fire at my mantlet or hull. Obviously I run into more experienced players who know exactly where to shoot, but that is just skill vs skill
@@tankonaut i agree!

When it comes to turret angling I found out the hard way that it is ESSENTIAL for the Tiger II because most tanks I encounter can pin the front turret armour.
Yes, it really helps! Angling is life ;)
The commander cupola:
Yep, a weakspot. That’s why you gotta keep moving and wiggling. Make that a harder target
Very underrated content.
Thanks bud! Appreciate your feedback.
@@tankonaut Subcribed btw. I don't really play warthunder because I only have a laptop, don't have enough space for it. Hope I can play it one day and follow these tips. Good day sir.
Be great to have you on board sir! Appreciate the sub :)
Yeah but when you angle against the 76 like this you most likely will get shot through this lower part between the hull and track on the side. Whenever i play the 76mm i shoot it there and it's way easier to do so since most shermans have stabilizers but yeah this might increase the chance on long range or smth
I don't disagree with this, but you could say that about a lot of tanks. However, I maybe die to these shots 1 out of 100 times. Most people instinctively shoot center of mass or turret.
the massive cupola with absolutely no armor:
at close range hitting the cupola isn't too hard IF the tiger is inexperienced. at longer ranges its not an easy shot
your entire tutorial after jumbo dumbell shoots the barrel: oh no our table it's broken
Yes shooting barrels and cupolas can disable the tiger - but these are generally close range tactics and are harder if the tiger is moving / wiggling between shots. It’s still always worth angling as a lot of people panic shoot the hull :)
This is why we shoot barrel first then tracks, and finish off the tiger with a flanking shot.
Always a good method
@@tankonaut it is. But for some reason, russian barrels never take damage.
I head that barrels have different armor values and that russian barrels have the most armor - I don't know if it's true or speculation
Ur gay
also helpful tip. dont carry a full tank of ammo. Like who even uses 81 rounds before dying. Having that much makes you a bigger stick of dynamite if you get ammo racked
Great tip!
I only take 20-30 shells with me. I am dead before they get used up anyways and like you said, less chance of ammo rack
One of the best things I ever did was only carrying 20/30 shells, before that I was always maxed out and would brew up with any kind of pen
The Soundtrack from T-34 fits great!
haha thanks :)
Cupola of the Tiger H1 aside, this basically makes Tiger Es a real threat
Yep I think the BR difference is what makes up for the cupola. Both are great tanks.
Where is the cupola?
@@aperson7266 It's literally on top of the turret. On the H1, it's basically the only thing you see on top of the turret and it sticks out quite a bit
As a jumbo player myself, I concur. The best way to play a tiger is just angle and wait for the opponent to reload.
Tiger vs jumbo battles are super fun IMHO :)
Commander: Did everybody forgot about me? Life is hard 😔
lol. Poor commander first to die too often ;)
Great content bro, keep it up.
A few extra tips I think a lot of tiger players will find useful:
1. Pzgr. Is better than Pzgr. 39, since it can overpressure it's much more useful. Difference in pen only starts to matter at >1k meters really.
2. Pretty obvious at this point but never take full ammo. 28 will do, 44 at most if you really need the extra ammo.
3. The Tiger E is much better than then H1. Faster, stronger mantlet, and no cupola weakspot. Plus you get rid of those grenade launcher things they put on your hull corners, makes the H1 unplayable for me. I've gotten at least 5 nukes with the E in full uptiers, mostly thanks to the Pzgr.
4. Always angle behind cover when facing russians, a good player will target your 60mm lower side armor with their pseudo-apfsds round. They're pretty harmless at range though, unless it's an IS-2 or 100mm.
Thank you boss!
Also, these are great tips! Really solid.
Every time a tiger does this to me I just aim for the lower hull, goes through every time
That's definitely a weakspot, yet I can't remember last time i was shot there?!
I dont get why people complain so much about the tiger. It's an unstoppable killing machine if you understand how to angle.
I think that its probably because it needs more micro-managing to be strong than other similar tanks - e.g. jumbo. I assume a lot of new players go for the Tiger, because I often see them sitting straight with no attempt at improving their armor angle, even when on reload. Just my experience.
They also forget about the one weak point sticking out the top of the turret.
The cupola is a big weakspot, so yes - you have to wiggle, move and do everything you can to stop enemies getting a clear shot on it
ST A1: you got no long life (showing HEATFS) 😎
That's a stronk tank! :)
no wonder i keep dying to 76 jumbos even if im angled
They are super dangerous so yes, movement, angling and going for that mg port, side skirt,, or barrel shot is the key.

Glad I could help - this isn't a comprehensive guide - it just gives you a basic approach. When you can hide your sides with cover, you can over angle the front to tank even bigger rounds :)
Tiger H1 Cupola: please dont notice me, please dont notice me, please dont notice me!!!!
lol - bushes exist ;)
@@tankonaut true, but most tigers players that i see dont use bushes =w=
The hatch in question
I mean Tiger players can bush the turret if they wanted to ;)
As some random feller who's spent too long being a tanker in WT, don't angle your turret in the Tiger 1 or 2, you can get away with maybe 20° in a left or right but it's better just to keep gun on target. Try to wiggle the gun around to prevent your barrel from being destroyed.
Angling is also quite iffy, as the armor behind your tracks is considerably thinner it's likely that if you come across an experienced tanker they will be able to take you out that way, too.
Simple way to avoid even needing the skills, be very up close and personal on urban maps, snipe with a good 40° angle on your hull on non urban maps. Avoid IS-2's, 152 anythings, and if neither of those are an issue beware 17 pounders. They hurt.
You desereve a subscription for explaining things so good even in text
Thank you sir! Appreciate the sub!
Wait until volume metric kicks in
I mean the Tiger actually benefitted from volumetric right? That drivers hatch / mg port and the side skirts are like unbreakable! ;)
U have less complication with a panther, just wigle turret if u wiff a shot and be scared of the is2
I agree the Panther is easier to play in many ways. However, I find the Tiger to actually be more versatile - maybe its just me, I am a heavy tank lover :)
Lol until he turns your commander to paste
lol
Lower sides will kill at that angle
Yes you are right, but anything more or less and it can pen your upper hull. The lower side shot is more risky and takes more time to aim - and most people shoot upper hull / center of mass. also, in country terrain your lower hull is often covered.
When I get my hands on this tank I’m going to actually have fun
Hey there! Not to dampen your enthusiasm but I thought EXACTLY the same thing when I was grinding to the Tiger. The Tiger is my favorite tank but grinding really hard for it and hoping that is when you will "have fun" is gonna be a disappointment for you. Not that the tank is bad - its super fun, but the game doesnt really change that much as you go up in BRs - there are SO many fun vehicles before you get to the tiger and I would recommend playing as many of them as you can and enjoying the journey to the tiger :) Too many people rush ( thats what I did! ) and then burn out or aren't ready to play at a higher BR. Take your time and enjoy :)
When I use my tiger.. I sometimes angle in cover because angling too much can kill you.. Shermans that have 75 guns and t34 85s can kill you above the side of the hull tracks. That is why I wiggle or if there is a building near me.. I only show up my front when angling.
I totally agree. That is a great tip. Using cover to hide your sides can let you over-angle the front to tank some crazy rounds. Great comment! :)
@@tankonaut Thanks and you're welcome
that is why you do not shoot the front or sides you shoot just above the tracks under the sideskirts
Definitely a weakspot but it takes a little time to aim accurately for it. That’s why I like to play aggressively in the Tiger. Pressuring people into making bad shots can really transform the armor protection.
Lower side plate: Hello
Shoot lower side of hull on tiger, very effective counter to this angle
Yes that is a big weakspot.
Lower side hull can be penetrated when angling
If you have a tiger and can't kill a Sherman by just looking at it, you're bad at the game. These things one shot me every time
Yes sir - Jumbos need careful aim and play but regular shermans should be dog food ;)

IS-2 never penetrates Tiger’s turret from the front.
Yes, the Tiger mantlet is pretty trolly and can bounce a lot of strong rounds :)
Gun port and capula is where I aim I love sniping gun ports it’s fun
Cupola is a better shot than the mg port IMHO - that can be a volumetric hell ;)

Yes, I agree - the Tiger gets put in a difficult situation - any less of an angle and the 76mm can pen your upper hull side/front. My best advice is to try and predict where you will be shot and angle for that shot. This allows you to over/under angle to maximize your survival chances.
