- The youngest surviving 4200, and a staplehold of the home-fleet at the Dartmouth Steam Railway; 4277 "Hercules" recently made a return to steam in Devon, after the completion of its most recent overhaul. The locomotive had been withdrawn in February 2018, upon the expirey of its boiler ticket, after a visit to the Churnet Valley Railway. After many hours of tiresome work, the locomotive emerged complete from the works at Churston resplendent in BR Black.
After some test runs, the GWR heavy tank was reintroduced on passenger services. Rubbing shoulders with 75014, 4277 would help deliver the DSR's Orange timetable, as the pair battled very unforgiving heat throughout the day. 4277 currently appears nameless, due to the nameplate brackets still undergoing fabrication.
Locomotives:
BR Standard Class 4MT - 75014 "Braveheart"
Ex-GWR 4200 Class - 4277 "Hercules" (name not carried)
All footage filmed on Thursday the 14th of July 2022.
Excellent video!
My wife and I took a return trip on this line in 2019-pre pandemic, of course.
You’ve captured it beautifully!
It’s nice to see 4277 make a welcome return back to service
GWR 42xx fantastic design and workhorse
Was down there last week in June but never had the chance of intense linesiding like here. Full credit to you in filming a gorgeous part of the country. Who needs to go abroad?!
Well filmed too.
Every line with steep gradients needs a Great Western 2-8-0. They're the most capable engines known to man
What an absolute gem of a video!!! Brilliant tracking and framing. Lucky you to be spending the day in such wonderful locations. You next challenge, filming from a kayak perhaps?!
Thanks very much! It's days like this, you realise that there are much worse ways to spend your time.
Who knows, maybe...
Great videos....we were talking to you as you took the first video at Oyster curve...i have sent a link of this video to both drivers..will look forward to seeing some of your other videos...cheers John
Thank you
It was a pleasure to meet and speak to you!
Excellent video, was on it Wednesday 13th ,never fails to please!
Cheers
Great video are you going to be at the RH&DR on Saturday to see the 95th for when the railway opened.
Thanks Jake!
As much as I would love to, with fuel costs the way they are, I just can't justify it right now.
🚂 ❤️ Your videos are just top ❤️ 🚂
That's very kind of you, thank you
@@TheSouthernerYTChannel ❤️ gladly.
Awesome stuff my friend!! 💯🔥🤛
Thank you
Beautifully filmed. I hope you don't mind me asking but what camera do you use to get such lovely results?
Thank you. Panasonic HC-X1500E.
@@TheSouthernerYTChannel Thanks for the reply. That looks like a mighty bit of kit. I'll have to settle for my Canon Legria HF R66 for now lol.
No worries. I spent ages using a HC-V770 (very good for the price tag), until it failed beyond economical repair. The X1500 is a beast of a unit, but very much worth the investment with the use it gets.
Brilliant video my friend like and Greetings
Thanks very much
Super great video :)
Thank you
Amazing ❤🚂❤
Thanks
Oh to be a fireman . . . then again perhaps not!!! Grease caps off to these fine bunch of people👍🏻 Excellent shooting as usual, I'll let you off the content🤣🤣🤣🤣
I don't envy them in this heat, regardless of how fantastic the job might be.
Thanks very much, Bob!
Think about on dartmouth railway in Devon we’ll remembered him for really short footplate steam rides and test around each Station because of due to boiling weather conditions or lineside fire
They needs replace by Heritage Diesel service are able to run
🔥🥵
Hercules buried? Oh joy!
