I dunno man, kinda seems like a bad idea deciding to destroy the universe (which includes all your loved ones) just to save one of your loved ones... There's always the slight chance that it'll work against all odds but there's not a hint of an indication in the movie that it's even a possibility. Miguel and pretty much every other spider person seem convinced that it won't work, so clearly there must be a good reason, right ?
To me this isn't really a moral dilemma because there's only one right answer. The fact that Miles can be thought to be right is to me a manifestation of the insane american spirit of the individal overcoming all odds to achieve what they've decided, even the laws of nature, causality and everything else. It's a ridiculous tale for crazy people. The absolute consensus surrounding it is really amazing to me.
Miles is the ultimate ignoble, selfish character and yet everyone loves him apparently. All the characters in this movie are terribly shallow and the dialogue is unbelievable

I think one possibility is that the death of Miles' uncle could have already made a similar imprint to if his dad. One solution might be that the multiverse of spider-men share their experiences and knowledge instead of it being imprinted through a fatal loss. The fact that their society has spent so much time and resources towards keeping the canon intact and not tried hypothesizing other methods show their narrow mindedness. Imagine what could be done with all those minds creativity and genius.
However abandoning the first tactic with such great risk is premature. Miles' enemy in this movie is such a tight time constraint.
An actual solution might be for TVA to tell them the weight of each death to better determine wether it is necessary. Although it dosen't seem like an option from the movie since there are no indications that the spider society have met the TVA.
