once again, very simple yet very cool. I would add a couple of LEDs to the bottoms of the acrylic rods to make it light up, these would be amazing prop shelf items
Very nice. I also did this making them a bit more handheld size. I used clear acrylic tube for the outside. Crazy straws for the helix. back then i used near boiling water, for my second set I used colored acrylic rod. for the caps my first set were a pair of old brake caliper pistons from an older yamaha motorcycle. For my second set I used aluminum curtain rod ends.
War Robots reminds me of the place called Virtual World. You go to the place, sit in a cockpit and play robots like the Mad Cat, Thor and others. You can choose the armor and weapons. Most fun I have had playing a game. :)
Seems like it would have been easier to soften and coil them both on the same rod, possibly one after another, in order to make them line up better. Possibly with something to keep them in that configuration put in place before taking it off of it.
When I looked at the thumbnail I thought you used silly straws. I didn't know what this item was.. a reference picture would be nice in the future. Great job as always Odin!
Just a tip to anyone planning on doing this: The reason some parts of the double helix look uneven is because when bending the tube by hand, each twist comes out with slightly different spacing between the levels, which becomes very apparent when you put the two helixes together. You can avoid this by keeping a spacer (For example, a block of scrap wood) between the twists as you're wrapping the tube around the pole. This should ensure that both helixes come out identical. Good luck :)
I like it! Darksunrise is right. A spacer, or even a line on the wooden pole would help. Practice does too, I was happier with the green one (the last one I did) than the others. The real prop I got to look at earlier this year, and it was wound by hand and uneven!
A cool non movie addition that would be cool, install a low power aquarium bubbling tube hidden in the bottom cap between the double helix. Design a part that mount to the top cap and acts as a air vent and hide the tubing in a cut out under the table. Reinvent the prop. Make the water have a yellow tint.
Could even take it a step farther, since the tubes are hollow you put in for the T-virus, you could inset a small LED light in the top of each tube and have the batteries and wires hidden in the cap that you made for the vent. I too make sci-fi props.

Hey Odin can you do a mini series of builds being the original Power Weapons from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. These would be the Power sword, power bow, power axe, power lance, and the power daggers. Then maybe if you can find a way to make them combine to make the Power Cannon.
As far as ads go, this is the first one im not really mad with. It's how you went to start it, it was smooth and ok. Still an ad but if I saw people do it like this, is be more likely to check them out, as I'm an person who strongly stays away from anything that's been on these ads, as my own personal boycott of what has happened to youtube.
