I love DC-3s... My favourite classic aircraft... but as a pilot, I wouldn't do well with taildraggers... especially large taildraggers with radial engines. :) It's a whole different level of flying. It HAS to be flown by the numbers. You can't just cut and add power like you would with your everyday pistons. Additionally, differential thrust and braking to taxi, the whole rudder dance that's a lot more intense than with non-taildraggers. It's why I have so much respect for those DC-3 pilots.
A beautiful plane and an interesting flight above the colourful flowers' fields. I wonder how long does it take to make such a plane perfect? Hats off to the crew and the ground team who make this DC3 fly. Thanks for sharing 😊!
When I was working at the airforce in Chile, just graduated from the school, it was an old C47 (DC3) and it went on a test flight, myself and another friend went on board an authorised, to only be found by the chief mechanic, of course we were up in the air, all that he said was…”and you how did you get on board, if the pilot knows that you’re in here you’ll be severely punished, when we land open the door and run for your life” and that’s exactly what we did… But it was a beautiful plane, this C47 had not seats only a bench type on each side of the plane.
very tidy and clean interiors, awesome…… in 1984 i was on Medan to Jakarta flight and there was still board sign “smoking and no smoking” during take off/landing
2024 is going to be her final Year. She's 80 Years old and deserves a retirement. So I would be very happy to fly with her once more, to say goodbye. I'm sure she will find a nice home, hopefully AvioDrome in Lelystad so people can still visit her once in a while, I'm sure she would love it..
We flew at august 4 with this aircraft after along time not flying on a DC-3. We enjoyed it very much and it was an emotional day for us as the DDA ( the operator of this classic airline) will stop operations flying the DC3 after this flightseason due to several NASTY reasons. I hope that the aircraft will stay in the Netherlands as is was a gatekeeper for several decades in front of one of our aviation museums and before that it was our first government aircraft flown by our Prince royal at that time Prince Bernhard. Due to regulations within the civil aircraft operations we lost several beautiful old aircraft like the PBY Catelina. ( we flew onboard that too). Sad time for historical aviation. We are thankful that we had the oppertunity to be able to fly onboard these aircraft.
Those are some lucky pilot's to be able to fly such a historic aircraft. None of the modern glass cockpits and fly by wire connections and computer based flying. This is why pilots had to be pilots, navigators, and engineers all at the same time, constantly monitoring gauges and instruments throughout the flight to ensure the plane is flying correctly and within the stated limits of the aircraft and it's powerplants. Those historic yokes from the 30's look incredible. Flying with a steering wheel essentially. Now they fly with a joy stick on the left column on most new aircraft.
after hearing they will stop flying this beauty of an aircraft after 2024 , i booked a flight this year , always been a dream of flying in a WW2 era C47/DC3 , just wish it had the D-day colors tho 😅
The first time I ever flew was in 1959 from Decatur, Illinois to Miani, Florida. Ozark Airlines and a DC 3. I would think the DC 3 and the C130 would rank up there with the most successful airplane in history. I wonder how many are still flying?
Very nice flight! It is so sad that they have to stop their activities after the end of this years (2024) season. Wonder where the Dakota will go to...
my first trip on dc3 was in 1973 last about 2 and a half hours - there is a free fall last about 30 seconds or more , quite scary , may be bad weather or in a vacumn- quite noisy
love seeing the dc3 in action after all these years
This plane will be retired from service end 2024
@@EurofilmsAviation NOOOOOOOOOOO PLS NOOO UR JOKING RIGHT??
I remember flying on a United Airlines DC-3 from Oakland, California to Ukiah, California around 1958 with my mother, and what a pleasure it was.
so great !!!
I am from Caracas, Venezuela.... This type of aircraft is a true piece of aviation history. The sound of its piston engines is truly music to my ears.
yes you're right

looks fun and safe.
Thank You
one of the greatest things on a DC-3 flight is the purring of its two PW engines.
Thanks for your comment
...I agree, that lovely droning noise, those great radial engines wandering in and out of 'sync',...I love it !...🙂🇦🇺

This DC3 looks better than the ones I flew in back in the 1950s 60s and 70s. Awesome video.

very good. As a young pilot I flew DC3s for Ontario Central Airlines out of Gimli Manitoba in late 1970s.
SO NICE ! you are lucky
Yo también amo mucho a este avión desde que tenía 7 años de edad... siempre he querido viajar en uno de estos
I'm so glad I flew on her in 2015 during Sail. It was a great flight! Too bad she has to stop flying!
yes will be retired this year
Sencillamente fenomenal!!!
Historia pura en el aire. Todo un privilegio volar en este tipo de aeronaves.
Gracias por compartir. Saludos 🇨🇷

I was a passenger in Zaire many years ago flying from Kinshasa to Moamba in a DC 3. It was quite an amazing experience.

Yes the flight included a flyover of Keukenhof

Is it a DC-3 or a C-47 Dakota? I see the double doors and I assume it has the strengthened floor and other upgrades.
I'd guess it is a C-47 ^^
great video...thanks...jammer dat DDA ophoud te bestaan met haar rondvluchten
Thanks
😮😮👍👍👍
Thanks
What! no cockpit shots?!
nice DC3 and a nice passenger interior. that cabin isnt much different then a modern airline, just with fewer seats

Do (did) the Dakota pilots make less money than the jet or turbo fan pilots on payday?
I don't know ;-)
got room for one more? 😎
Wat 'n beenruimte had men toen!
in feite niet dezelfde definitie van comfort.
That’s real piloting , real pilot, 👍, but 3 mn on the left wing …I burn this video
